  • Only 1% of golfers get to that elusive scratch handicap. So what do they do at the driving range that helps them keep that handicap low?
Hannah Holden runs through some key components of a good golf practice session as well as giving you some games to try and a framework to improve your practice this winter.

This is honestly the best "how to practice" video that I've seen on YT, absolutely brilliant video Hannah, thank you! :D

Great video Hannah, I struggle with just beating balls over and over, as well as allowing myself to slip into the UA-cam spiral of golf tips and techniques without a plan. My desire for instant gratification keeps me from sticking with anything long enough to determine its usefulness in my game. Hoiping this winter to really isolate my true swing and identify practice goals. Thanks

I'm really enjoying the content so far. It's one of my favourite videos to date. Really made me think of my range session. I am such a happy Gilmor when it comes to range sessions and get bored. Gonna start to plan and make notes and see if I make any gains over the winter.

Super video Hannah! With snow on the ground and the courses just closed in Wisconsin, it is time to hit the range. Thanks for starting me on a practice path for 2024.

Lots of good stuff crammed into this video. I do plan to practice a bit at an indoor facility a few miles from my home. All the courses and ranges are closed for winter around here, which is just south of Montreal! Love your hat!

Love the content, Hannah and team! I know it’s cold where you are right now you’re bundled up like a toddler! 😂
I’m fortunate enough to live in Phoenix, USA, so I can practice AND play year round. I keep some older clubs in the trunk (a driver, 5, 9, 52, and a putter) to practice with and the range I go to has Trackman for the bays as well as the grass lanes. Using the older clubs makes hitting my main set so much easier for me, and my HCP has come down a lot over the last year thanks to consistent practice and a lesson here and there!
Keep up the great work! Get someplace sunny and warm ASAP! ☺️

Brilliant video, so tempting to just smack balls at the range, but as the saying goes: “a little bit of intelligence goes a long way.”
You can tell the successful golfer by the one who practices their short game more than their long game. It’s not as fun, but if you’re serious about bringing your score down, that’s where you need to concentrate.
Thanks again Hannah for another great video, please keep them coming.

Best tip: practice slow and exaggerated without a ball. I know I should but never do so I am going to write it down ( oo, was that another tip).😊

Love your thinking. Have a R10 and changed path from outside to in and also increased attack angle. Important to have data but equally step through bag and finish on 54 degree 50 yard shots

    Nice vid.
Tip 7: warm up before hitting balls. Sometimes I’ll practice when it is 40 deg F or even lower. I’ll usually do some “jacks” or jog around the practice green for a few minutes before the range.

Great tips, love the variation and imagination. Ive been guilty of just blasting balls at the range too. This winter I'm going to make much better use of my PRGR and Rangefinder to dial in my wedges -half shot, 3/4 shot and full shot with each. The aim is to feel comfortable at distances and know I have a stock shot. Love your channel, all the best.

    • @hannahholdenNCG

I have more lessons in winter! It’s the perfect time to make swing changes and get better before the season starts.

    • @andrewjohnston5942

Oh I wish I could practice on the range more. I get bored too easily. I’m currently using a TopTracer range, bit more fun.
I tend to only use the range before the start of each new season, or if I get a new club(s) mainly to check my distances before season begins. Great video.

Do you or would you suggest to play a shorter tee box during the winter when the ball doesn’t fly as far? My handicap always seem to go up quite a bit in winter. How do you keep your handicap going up in winter? Is there a handicap index adjustment for weather & course conditions?

    • @hannahholdenNCG
      @hannahholdenNCG  7 місяців тому +1

Yes I would move up a tee box, we always tend to do that at my course. I also swap to a firmer ball that flys abit further!
