Good and noble work! A little off topic but I can never think of the Farallones again without thinking of that woman who swam all the way there from Fisherman's Wharf without a wetsuit all in one go. Here is a cut and paste of the details: "On the early morning of May 11, 55-year-old grandmother, Amy Appelhans Gubser, entered the water underneath the Golden Gate Bridge and swam 29.6 miles, making it just off of the coast of Southeast Farallon Island at 8:31 p.m., meaning she swam 17 hours, three minutes and 11 seconds."
It not only takes a special kind of person to stay on the Farallons to study wildlife but also to brave the VERY haunted Houses! I can highly recommend reading the book "The Devils Teeth" by Susan Casey.
I read that book ,she said in one chapter when she spent the night on a boat offshore she woke up and there was blood smeard all over the deck in morning.
I stayed in one of the houses on the Farallones for a night and the only haunting I experienced were the rampant mice that had taken over the building. They were everywhere! Creepy yes, but I didn't sense that they were haunted.
My parents got me a book about Farralon Island around 2009or 08 and have been more curious about everything since then 🤔 just so amazing what is in the middle of the ocean
MrDBcooper77 .. read Susan casey book. " The Devil"s Teeth.. Tarathate talking about The House there in FaRALLON iSLAND IS Haunted its almost a hundred yrs old..
I love spending time on islands and I work very hard everyday to do so. This island however looks absolutely terrible. Not sure why anyone would want to spend a minute out there with all those shit hawks.
I have a new found respect for nature and our need to preserve our planet.

I read The Devil's Teeth years ago and have wanted to live there ever since 😍
How cool! One of my favorite professors, Dave Lindbergh used to tell us great stories about the Farallon Islands. He was a big time bird guy.
If you immediately thought of David Lindhagen....
An amazing piece of nature right under the nose of the big city
Wow I hope I can work in an environment like this one day
What an amazing island White pointers seals elephant seals Albatros and everything else just amazing 👏
Nature doesn't need to be managed, humans and their impact does......
But it does need to be studied and protected.
Ah yes, humans “managing” other humans on behalf of nature - what could possibly go wrong?
Any bars out there?

It really is. One thing that amazed me is that it's a part of San Francisco city which is something I did not know.
@@sugamai yea on a clear day you can see it really well its only a couple miles off the coast from SF especially from Ocean beach you can see it.
I did a boat tour to see these beautiful island I’m so happy it’s close by SF Bay Area I wanted to land on the island and walk around but we couldn’t

Safest place to live in San Francisco

Some people have it made
Went out deep sea fishing from Halfmoon Bay Harbor to the farallon islands ! Did ok with the fishing. Note if you get sea sick easy DON'T GO !!!!
How long was the boat ride?
At about 2 minutes he mentions stuff going down the toilet bowl. Where does the stuff go? I'm sure no city sewer?
How do they get phone service and internet? Can't be cable. I have gotten cell coverage out to the Farallones on my boat. Internet via Starlink?
Doing the old way, digging the soil to make a septic tank
I'd love to work here ❤
There's gotta be good waves here
It looked like it but see 05:30 in the video..
They dumped thousands of barrels of nuclear waste just off the coast of this island.
What about the supposed haunted house?!..
MrDBcooper77 .. read Susan casey book. " The Devil"s Teeth.. Tarathate talking about The House there in FaRALLON iSLAND IS Haunted its almost a hundred yrs old..

@Polymer Tools I just heard a long time ago from a friend that it was supposed to be Haunted
If I went there, I'd never want to leave!.
Whoever sits at the top with authority probably just wants enough money and anyone can visit. How much are they being paid?
Let us on the island.
Nerds counting birds.
Heck yeah! :)
I love spending time on islands and I work very hard everyday to do so. This island however looks absolutely terrible. Not sure why anyone would want to spend a minute out there with all those shit hawks.
What about the rats?
Great place to catch the bird flu.
so you are saying your job can be cut to save the tax payers money. got it. lol too much government overspending
Necessary?? The only necessity for the well being of the island's inhabitants is for you and everyone else to stay off the island.
0:38 lol
FORTNITE GUYS
I would do this for free!

I want to move here and get away from everyone...
And yet we can't pay teachers a decent wage.
