You're a good man Derek.. A trip of a lifetime for these folks.. That boy will remember this for the rest of his life. You just enriched a boys entire life.
I went to a monster truck show with my dad when I was probably 10. Something about it being trucks (he was into wrenching) made it one of my favorite memories I have with him. Couldn't imagine if we got to do something like this for a week together. You're 100% right, this will impact the kids big time.
Thank you for the kind words
@@jerryantaya1266 I hear you brutha. My pop and I are into airplanes, an every summer we went to Arlington Washington EAA and 4 times to OshKosh EAA (Once we flew in), and here I am 40 years later, and I remember it like yesterday.
@@ViceGripGarage You are making something happen for these people, after Covid and all the garbage that has been handed to us over the last two year. You are making dreams come true, and kids will never forget this, or you Derek. You and your Family are amazing people.. and before I start crying, I'm gonna stop here.
The BOY has his OWN truck people. This guy has this truck to himself for the week. LOL
I've been trying to get my Dad who isn't really too knowledgeable in the UA-cam atmosphere to check out one of your videos because I knew he'd get a kick out of your sense of humor and all your hilarious quirks. This was finally his first one and it was a complete success! He was laughing the whole time which was very enjoyable for me. Thanks Derek for everything you do and I hope you have a great (and well deserved) Father's day.
I got my 76 year old dad to hook his peepers in the show a few months ago and he instantly went back to the first video and binge watched a couple hours a night till he caught up and told me it reminded him of how I taught and continue teaching my kids I told him it's how I remember being taught except I was taught on a dirt floor barn so for major projects tarps were laid on the ground the projects were rolled in all doors were closed and tarps were put up as walls we built them so we could take each wall move it out of the way and next time we needed them the floor was laid down and side and back walls put up when the project was in the last wall was moved and secured into place
@@davidwoermansr Awesome story. I'm glad you have those great memories to pass on
@@ryanshadders750 best times of my childhood was in the shop with grandpa till he died too soon and dad it's why I bought a salvage yard and several small farms around it when I got what I call differently abeled the government said disabled till I didn't need their help anymore I built a big shop and started fixing vehicles antique tractors and farm equipment and selling them instead of cutting them up and crushing them my kids also have plenty to work with for their race and derby cars and local kids know my shop is open after hours and weekends to anyone with a project but no one to guide and teach them and they can pay for parts by sweeping floors doing oil changes and running around the yard pulling parts or helping on the farm or in our gardens
You are a class act Derrick, the world needs more people like you.
you got that right
I wanted to say the same thing, but you said it well enough, I love Derek!
My exact sentiments!
They're out there and not really hard to find when you get over the fear and division the media has created
As a disabled US Army Veteran who does not drive any longer, I just want to say that I never miss these events because of this channel and the content that you provide. Many hours have I spent watching you fix and repair these vehicles and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your service and everything you sacrificed
There just isn't anyone else on UA-cam like you and your family Derek! You all enjoy what you're doing, and it shows.
Thank you Jason
In the world, everyone is totally different.
You may or may not be an idiot, ( nope,, not an idiot) but you have a heart of gold. That's why people love you Derek. you keep us all smiling and for a few minutes of crazy car capers, we are transfixed to your world. What a diamond you are.
just when a fella thinks the vgg family cant be any more better you come outta left field with this content...awesome.
Does he have a jack
@@ps1983 on PowerTour everybody will lend you theirs and help you !!! best people in the world
I don't think there's another channel on UA-cam as down to earth and as true to who they are as yours is. I wish you and your family all the joys life can bring. The act of giving to those in need is one hell of a high and it's good to see you're an addict! Nice OG Ice Cube shirt too btw!
Sonny from best ever and Steve from Steve Wallis channel are truly good people just like vice grip..... they haven't let fame go to their heads like o let's say whistlindiesel he is a prick that really needs nevermind.
Utmost respect for you and your family, Derek. The level of love for our country and especially for people is unmatched. Kudos, sir.
Thank you Dr.
@@ViceGripGarage someone replied toy comment that I had left earlier saying I won so I think someone is trying to create a scam
@@dlyall26 It's a SCAM! There's a ton of scam bots on UA-cam now.
@@johnnyv1125 yeah and UA-cam is claiming they are removing all these bots but you know they are not
@@dlyall26 Yeah, UA-cam is infested with them. I think VGG has the links turned off so isn't too bad yet here but other channels it's getting pretty bad.
Between this and the GTO for the Veteran, I don’t know of anyone more Humble and willing to give back to the community. This is why I am such a VGG fan. Derek for President.
Seen a few comments stating "Nope! I would never let a stranger drive my truck!" And this is what makes Derek, Derek. It's just a truck, we can't take them with us when we leave this earth. Derek gave that father and son beautiful memories, that will far outlast that truck. Thank you Derek, you and your family are a bright light, in a dark world. Love the content! You don't post a bad video! You will hit 2 million subs in no time! Stay safe, keep up the good work, and keep doing what makes you, you!
yep! it's just the ladys you need to watch out for driving your truck 😂
You always give back . That's a sign of a good man with a good heart. You boys have a great role model of what a real man looks like.
You’ve got a huge heart my friend, thank you for going way, way above and beyond to help fellow enthusiasts make the Power Tour.
Thanks Norm, appreciate you
I’ve said it before but it bears repeating, you are one genuinely solid and generous guy, Derek. God bless and have a fun and safe Power Tour!🙏👍🏻
No worries about the revivals they will come in due time, I'm happy to see you wrenching on those oldies.
Thank you for understanding Matt!
@@ViceGripGarage hey you are also busy with the shed update and family stuff. I appreciate the time you take to make these videos and I get a good old chuckle too so well worth it... 👍👍
So, its been a rough couple weeks at work, hot, humid, nothing going right. I needed this video, always so funny and informative. Derek has so many classic lines. My favorite this time- " Safety squint engaged" Thanks man !
Derek, you are the definition of class act, salt of the earth. Keep being great!
There are hardly any words for your generosity.... You Sir are what most people miss out on when downing this great country of ours... A true Patriot, a true American, last but not least a giving, kind hearted person. You inspire me with your passion and your way of being a true American. Just so giving and thoughtful. Amen brother and God Bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
While I love the revivals and that is how I found your channel, that is not why I’m still here. You encompass what a car/truck guy should be and the wrenching on stuff already saved and progressively doing some a little at a time to each one is necessary to keep them around. Some people don’t understand that if you keep buying and never work on them the cars are no better off(speaking from experience, I have a buying problem😂) then where they were sitting. I enjoy all aspects of the Channel(s)!
I cried my eyes out immediately when you told us you helped a father and son pursue their passion with just a spare truck. I bet they both just love your channel and being able to use your truck will be a lifelong story they will share at every opportunity. I started watching your channel for the Norske flavor and humor (I'm from NoDak), but soon realized your are also a great person, father, and husband. You proclaim how great the automotive community is....I think you are the ambassador!
Exactly why I watch Derek he’s %110 good people man! Awesome job brother!
YAASSSSS! 100%
Derek, My family has had the ABSOLUTE PLEASURE of meeting you and Jess a few times and We’ve been watching since probably 200K or so. Hell maybe less. You’ve been an inspiration and a role model. If this world had more people like your family, this would be a better place. You are an incredible human being. Your family is absolutely amazing. Also, side note, do not care if it’s a revival or working in the shop. Or on the track, WE ARE WATCHING! It’s your channel, you do as you want. Can’t please everyone. Maybe someday I’ll get lucky to be in your shop someday.
It doesn’t matter what you do for content, I love to watch and live vicariously through you!
Thank you Kindly
@@ViceGripGarage I agree with Top Cat. I love all your content, and the variety is great. I never understood why people only want to watch one type of video.
Minnesota nice in Tennessee......
More content more content more content!!!!
Same here from the UK, Derek and his family are the best
DEREK.. if everyone was as loving and caring as you, we would in no doubt be living in a wonderful world. you are amazing. God Bless.
That's step 2... "A wild Steve Wallis enters the chat"
This is awesome of you Derek, helping a father create some memories with his kid.
You and your family are salt of the earth kinda folks ! That’s awesome that some fans/folks will get to join the Power Tour in this way! Thank you for your vids and the help you provide for fellow man! Absolutely awesome !
Tried to sneak one in on me huh🤣🤣. Just happened to grab my phone one minute after it posted. Made my night!
Ty Derek. Ty for good ,clean fun!!! Ty for content. I got a junkyard and love getting greasy 😂
Whether you believe it or not, your actions don't just affect the USA. Your videos and attitude to others have spanned several continents. You and your family are an example to most, and as an Englishman i am proud of you. Great content and heartfelt sentiments go a long way.

Monday morning VGG episode with my coffee? Yes please. And Derek, you’re an example of what we need more of in this country. God bless you and your family
Thank you for the upload. Cured my Sunday blues :)
Saw this guy's post about this in a group on Facebook. You are a great fella. Thank you for all you do.
You've a big heart Derek, these people will remember this .Good on you man totally enjoyed this 👌
You just see and show goodness in your heart and soul. The love you show in the way you go about doing things is I think why your channel has done so great. Your love and compassion for your family is first and foremost in your life and that is what it is all about. That is one of the main reasons I love watching your channel.
Derek, I don't care what you do in your videos, it's always entertaining. Thank you for all you do
I just wanted to say most negatively stems from jealousy. If your getting negative comments it's because they hold you higher than they do themselves. You show people how to improve and some folks just can't take that. Keep doing what your doing buddy anything you create turns into gold. Thanks for everything yall do for us BTW.
Man this is why you are the one person I want to meet you are a down right genuine man run a great Channel with great things to learn and family friendly and all the kind thing you and your family do for others even my 2 year old son comes running when he hears the intro to your videos👌🏻
Thats awesome Derek , Helpful tip doing drum brake wheel cylinders . Remove the drums , put on the parking brake full extent. (no need to remove the springs or shoes ) then replace the wheel cylinder. Release the parking brake and install the drums, and blead the brakes.
Been subscribed for a few months love the longer videos what’s great is right when a short fella is taking a break for the weekend on the road driving a semi enjoy all videos posted!
I like the diversity of the channel, yeah revivals are what we all love to see but at the same time the channel needs to grow and I enjoy all the different content Derek creates for our viewing pleasure. keep doing what you do man it's by far the best channel on the tubes you don't need to justify content that ain't a revival us die hard fans know you'll never forget what brought the channel all the success and you'll fit in a revival wherever you can.
Amen
Vice Grip at midnight on sunday? Well I just cant believe it.. but I mean, I got to. I'm lookin right at it.
Perfect vidya for in the garage while I work on the goin' to town rig 👍
Theres not many folks like you and your family out there. Your continued generosity to those less fortunate to you is outstanding. You are one of my heroes Derek. I hope i get to shake your hand one day. (Phoenix, AZ)
Thanks for another episode so soon Derek, your spoiling us .keep up the good work you do and being a stand up guy ,you and your family have a great power tour .
We need a "Not Rod, No Power Tour." You have to tow your non-running rig from junkyard to junkyard, pick parts, and get it running.
Loving all the content! Not just the revivals. This is one of my favorite channels on UA-cam! Thanks for your hard work for our entertainment!
Right as long as it's vehicle relevant he's entertaining and educational at the same time something that's hard to do some try too hard to be funny and it ruins the show you can tell Derek isn't faking the humor it's just who he is so it's just natural
I will never complain about watching vehicles being worked on, more so when you are helping someone out! And love that old shop truck.
By the by, still enjoy your videos and look forward to every one. Little Grip and Vice Lodge too. You and your family deserve every good thing and sucess that comes your way. Great job Dude.
Derek, you make me feel better about my fellow man! Thank you for all you do! Thank your wonderful wife and boys also!
You guys are amazing people, makes you feel proud to be a Patriot and a good human-being.
I like the different things you do Derek - it keeps things interesting. A fellette has enjoyed watching every episode (believe me I spent quite a bit of the months of April and May watching from the beginning plus the other channels you have - yes I have no life). After spending my high school and 1st marriage years wrenching most weekends it's nice to watch someone else do it -- it's easier on my body!! Keep doing what you are doing!! Kudos to you and your family - you're all a class act!
I have total respect for you, Derek. This channel gets better all the time! You have a heart of gold. All the best to you and your family!
Derrick, what you’re doing is out of the box and over the top! In other words . You being you. Windshield time with a father and son is a memory that lasts a lifetime. I spent the day here in Memphis . Looking forward to the rest of the long-haul hope to meet and greet more hot rod family this week!
Windshield time with other car crazed people just makes it better
Wow what an experience that would be! Meeting Derek and then trying a fellas rig out!!! Big and warm hearted, love you all! Great stuff 👍
Thank you for the hours of awesome entertainment. I have laughed, I have shed some tears. You see I am a 20 year US Air Force retired veteran, your patriotism is simply outstanding. I was you 30 years ago on car. I was also a 20 year Fighter Jet engine Technician. Boy what fun that was. I hope someday to meet you and your family. When are you in Florida next. Keep up the great videos.
Love seeing the varied content you're putting out! Would be all over watching a transmission rebuild video. Enjoy Power Tour.
Ur just naturally a good guy man we need more people like you in the world that father and son will remember that for ever
“It’s a walrus; it’s no longer a seal”
This sort of comedy is why I subscribed and why I stay subscribed
Absolutely awesome, I totally respect you for what you have done for this father and son.Omgoodness Derek, your animations and sound effects are priceless
Thats pretty awesome bud. I’m sure he’ll be telling the story for years to come. You’re a good dude. Have a safe power tour!
That is so awesome. Lending your cars out spreading the joy of hotrodding and small towns. This is what keeps me watching
You know Derek, you just never fail to make a guy get the warm and fuzzies. I can just tell by the way that It is
Derek does stuff like this, well, because that is what Derek does. You have a great heart sir, and thank you.
Straight onto some new content from a guy I thinks is stupendously awesome 😍👌💪✌️
Thanks Derek....l am Veteran in my 80's ans l love watching you do your excellent stuff....Shoe🇺🇸
Dude! Amazing thing to do for a viewer, freaking amazing. Especially with the miles and the weather we are all battling this week. Kudos to you Sir! Looking forward to Hot Rod Power Tour with ya this year!
I can now say I've watched 99 percent of your content and I have nothing but pure respect for you and your family. To put up vehicles so others can enjoy the Hot Rod Power Tour is almost unbelievable unless a person has watched a lot of your content as you've shown us how a proud and true American goes about living.
Thanks to you and family for taking us along this awesome journey.
What a great truck!
She’s a keeper for sure! I’ll take good care of her and bring her back soon, but she’s gonna have a few miles racked up! 😎
See you on the road Derek! You and your family have an awesome time and keep hydrated! Gonna be a scorcher🔥

Your a genuine gentleman if I'm ever in the USA I will definitely look you up borrow something
What keeps me coming back to VGG is no fancy machines I don't own. What I learn is mostly doable. 👍 No frills repairs. Great Show. Thanks!!!
Very generous of you to lend out your truck and other vehicles ! First time you ever mentioned transmission maintenance and oil change intervals. I always wondered if you ever serviced your transmissions .
This channel is the best. Thanks Derek for showing us that there is plenty of good people out there.
As usual a role model. Thanks Derek.
I started watching your videos a month or 2 ago and I'm pretty sure I've watched almost every one of them. We use to find old cars and trucks on backroads outside my home town for dirt cheap and make them run and drive. We rescued probably 20 or so 63-87 chevy trucks and a few 68-mid 80's fords in a couple year period. We'd leave em rusty and haggard looking but drivable. After seeing all the ones that you bring back, it makes me wanna get into doing it again. It's an awesome feeling to make something that hasn't been on the road or even out of a field in 15 years run and drive again.
Sitting here, miserable and ill with covid, and I burst out laughing a few times watching this. Cheered me right up!! thanks Derek
get well quick
I'm gettn over covid myself
mighty nice of you Derek. mighty nice of you, that boy will always remember this trip with his dad..That's just cool of you to be so generous.
His boy would probably remember the trip with his dad a little better if he was riding in the truck with him rather than driving his own.
What a guy!
This old world needs more folks like you and your family!
Best of luck on Power Tour, can't wait to see those videos!
The world has alot of people like that the media just stopped reporting feel good stories and only report negativity to divide us and control us with fear I make it a point to get to know my fellow man especially if something in the tree row catches my eye on the back roads I stay away from interstates and major highways or something in the backyard in towns or cities during my alley cruises I've had a couple farmers didn't want to get rid of what caught my eye because they wanted to fix it someday because it held more sentimental value than it was worth they just needed time and money but had other goodies they'd make a deal for and they didn't know whether to trust me or not till I invited them to come check out my shop and closing in on 100 acres of projects and parts I have to call a salvage yard for beuracratical reasons and my son just finished tech school for auto body and collision repair so we'll even be able to spray a good paint job on if they want and I'll do their project for other goodies sometimes just an old iron pile sometimes just to see an old man happy or a broke kid I'll have him come learn in my shop because he didn't have anyone to teach him
@@davidwoermansr I know there's still good folks out there. I used to be that guy, that worked on co-workers crap cars, just asked them to buy the parts, I did they labor for free. (Sometimes when it was a single mom, struggling to make ends meet, I'd find a way to "accumulate" the parts, ie new, or junkyard, and not charge a thing. I'm not tooting my own horn, just saying I fully understand.
I can't wrench too much anymore, but when and where I can, I don't hesitate.
It just warms my heart, because as you stated, this world is perceived as... all evil.
@@rexkean I've actually found mostly good people in my travels I've also stopped watching the news as much as I use to because they just want people to be scared nobody reports the good stories anymore and seem to exaggerate the bad every station seems to follow the same script almost word for word

God love ya, Derek. I wish I could go this year, too. Project Sy-Ko AIN'T gonna be ready. Ugh. Maybe next year. Thank you for doing this for a guy. I went to HRPT last year and met you in Dayton, Oh... This seems to be the kind of thing a feller like you would do. Be safe and keep it up! -Vic
I have enjoyed watching your videos, but sometimes I don't have a hour to watch a show, but me and my family enjoy your 20ish minute videos. Your heart is awesome to "loan" vehicles out for power tour. Dad always wanted to take us boys, but never had a ride to do it.
