Had a look at your Patreon, Astonishing that you can work full time having such low Patreons. I guess the dollar is a pretty good value for you. Super nice man! Your tuts are really great, i also really like how diverse tuts you make. Perhaps a bit fast passed, but i like that. Though.... sometimes i do miss the detailed info i get with longer tuts. But depends on how people want to learn stuff i guess
this tutorial is AMAZING, i just have one question. How do i make the page seem full because after the magazine is closed it looks super flat. do i just need more pages?
One thing i missed is how you tackle z-fighting. I didnt really notice it, but i also didnt see you move each page up a very tiny amount so they are not touching
Hey. I'm battling the Z-axis right now. Also when I move the whole thing to another location or rotate it, then all the pages lose their positions. Rombout, do you know anything about how to fix this?
@@welkeidioot i have the other older one saved on disk. Let me try to find it's origin. That one is from a book and and it's 2-3 hour tutorial if I remember well. It much slower passed and you learn more from that one. The same technique is used with the bend mod and empties
Hi. Thanks for the tut. It's a good one. I only got one thing that I don't get to work. If i want to rotate the Empty Box (so you can control the entire thing), every page is starting to trip. Then it's unusable if I want to animatie the Empty Box. Any suggestions?
Do wonder if the CG cookie method has more control and is easier to adjust. With that one you bake the action i believe then use mesh cache to control the other pages. Plus side is you can adjust the frames offset and all. With this method each page is an action and thats a lot of tweaking. But its is a super fast method
Just tried that MDD approach and its petty nice and easy, you need just a single page animation, export a mdd cache, then use mesh cache on the other pages. THen you can animate the offset.
amazing thanks! is there an easy way to also be able to rotate the finished book using an empty without it messing up the pages? I can translate the position but if I try to rotate everything 90 degrees the pages get messed up. Thanks!
Hi... first of all thank´s for sharing this tutorial. It really helps and it works pretty good as a mockup animation. How did you rotate the first page with the center of the empty object as a pivot? around min 2:05 - 2:12
One issue i keep having is due to we duplicate only the page and not the empty. When it playes, the more pages which get delayed, the moe freaky that page turns flips. Not sure how you solved that. Guess i used wrong duplciation method, i believe driver should update when duplicating EDIT Well the driver did update. Not sure why the other pages look weird when flipping
Its actually the twist deform causing it, its intersecting with the lower pages as soon as the page starts to turn. In my case the page bends downwards first in the first couple of frames of the rotate animation
Its due to the empty in the first page, all the other pages reacht to the same empty on page one. If the turn of that page is to far, the bend freaks out. SO to solves this, the pages needs to be duplicate along with the empties. Not sure how you got by this one, in your video i hardly noticed the effect
How did you light the scene used in the video thumbnail? After I follow this excellent short tutorial I will probably waste 6 hours failing at lighting.
Can be done in many ways. I think, im no proper cycles or blender render user, is to render with white background and than add a vignet in the post processing. If im correct there is a vignet node. Otherwise see if you can do something with a mask and a blur node. Its really not that complicated. Other wise render using a gradient in a backdrop or add a plane as backdrop and add a gradient to that.
I put the images on the pages but they overlap, i don't now what to do. The animation it's right, the images are the problem... i don't know if i did something wrong or if exists a way to fix this... Thank you!! :)
Using the nodes in your video, one side of paper is totally mirrored and face the wrong way. When I rotate the image texture, the other side now faces the wrong way, because the double-sided paper is on the same plane. How do fix one side, so both image textures face the right way? :(
@@navaneeth_easwar thanks! I also found that with his nodes, just ad a "MAPPING" node to one of the picture, so the rotating wont affect the other picture
@@mangadonburi9893 Thanks! That's informative and do you know how to fix the simple deform modifier? After the render process the bend and twist is not working properly. I don't know how to fix that.
Baffled you could fit this in a 11 min video. I remember this old video of, i think a French person, which is really long. Though he also shows book back and it even adjust when flipping. Its very very detailed. Here's that link for people interested. its 8 years old, but you can still follow along. @@pratsk9724 Guess it would be even better if you make one big texture with all page sides and then use offset per page orso. Then you can use a single material on all those pages
It has the perfect balance of education and execution, at least for me-with only months of experience with Blender.

Very nice, thank you!
How did you do that the faces dont crash into each other? You didn’t show all steps to your animation with different textures.

how do i export it with 2 sided material? The .glb only shows the front side material on both sides of the plane :(
Did you animate camera for circle motion or book itself

just move object with simple deform to collection by right click/click and then choose move object to collection.
