Please do a Between the Buried and Me song. I'd recommend "The Coma Machine" It'll have everything you love, mate.
Both the guitarist are playing an 8 string guitar by the way.. The lead guitarist is very different with his playing style than most with all the fluid finger tapping and picking..
Tosin, their lead guitarist, is a damn savant. He plays bass like lines with his thumb while finger picking and tapping the guitar like lines. The man blows me away every time.
Two eight string guitarists produce all of the guitar/bass sounds, amazing!
not true though. they have bass guitar on all the albums
The lowest string on an 8-stringer is not low enough for a 4-string bass guitar.
check out some of their brain melting live performance... just 2 8string guitarist and a insane drummer to keep it all glued together.
Ha! Love it! Animals as Leaders are addictive, musical perfection. No one else like them.
There are a few bands in the same vein though none quite compare to their level of songwriting
no one else has the humility they have its why they are so good if you get the chance to meet them, you'll see for yourself they are capable and they know it but humble beyond their age and humility is quite lacking in most others exceptionally talented musicians not that they don't possess any just not to the degree these guys do.
I love these guys. They’re just amazing.
That snare sound!!! SNAPPY, thanks man much love
They usually end their set with this track, kind of their "hit" song as much as a prog metal band can have a hit track, "Red Miso" is another killer track from their latest album Parrhesia, a classic AAL track to definitely check out is "Wave of Babies"
Dude, Tosin Abasi was elected best guitar player of the decade by Guitar Magazine... not for nothing obviously ! 😀
And the actual drummer is just a beast... best drummer amongst the best, let say.
Check "Monomyth", it's huge !
Peace !
And this is their old drummer. Matt Gartska is their drummer now and yeah, he is in a league of his own, just like Tosin and Javier.
Their guitars have 2 extra “lower” strings (8 string guitars), which basically provides all the bass they need!
Tosin was on Rick Beato's channel recently with John Petrucci and Devon Townsend, its worth a watch (Rick has interviewed him a couple of times another time with Tim Benson was pretty good too)
I love CAFO. Guitarist definitely made a deal with the devil for those skills.
Yeah just like the character that portrays the real blues guitarist Tommy Johnson (that was supposed to have sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads) in the movie "oh Brother where art thou"..
Tosin Abasi is your favorite guitarist's favorite guitarist's favorite guitarist.
Some other artists in the same vein of instrumental prog metal: Scale the Summit, Chon, and Polyphia. I like Animals As Leaders the most but all are stellar bands you should check out, with Polyphia being the CHOPPIEST
Also ... Myth Of I & Arch Echo
Brilliant group of players. If the Grammy award was given for musicianship they would have a wall of them lol. Physical education another great track from them
When you are playing an 8 string guitar, there isn't a need for a bass player. Animals As Leaders is an instrumental band. Loved your reaction.
These guys are on another level
This song is undeniably impressive🙌🧙♂
I saw them live about 8 years ago, and I was super impressed. my sons turned me on to them and i’m an old guy that loves prog stuff like Rush, Tool, King Crimson, Mara Volta, blah, blah, but these guys killed it live. no bass. no singer. and it didn’t matter.
This drummer wasnt the same drummer as tooth and claw. The new drummer is matt garstka and he is extremely highly regarded.
Haven't even watched it yet, and you get a thumbs up just for your enthusiasm.
The Woven Web and CAFO at Brutal Assault 21 is a great live performance of theirs from 2016
It's tosin Abasi, we know it.... Brilliant live, he's hendrix of our day
They have a perfect record in my opinion. Every track and album is perfect. Amazing band.
For reference, a CAFO is a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation, a.k.a. battery farming.
I've seen them live and it was phenomenal! Tosin Abasi is a master guitarist! You should check out Song of Solomon EMG Studio version
🔥AMAZING🔥😎🤟
Best live video IMHO are the guitar center videos or the Dunlop sessions 🤘🔥🎶
Next song The Woven Web (live)! Love this band bro , it’s amazing working out with this music
Live from these guys is like another level, they play these songs perfectly and then he messes around with the songs for fun but like a solo just as good as the part on the studio version but live. Don't be afraid with AAL to go to any song they have in your mind will be blown. Go to Matt garstka drum videos too.
My God do the bonus tracks the first album nobody does those reactions and they deserve it They are on UA-cam, kalimba and orea.
More bonus check out the rhythm guitarists Nashville sessions and his other band called mestis.
Triple bonus, go watch the lead guitarists videos where he tours with all the greats like Steve vai's axe tour with tosin is his name, and right now he's on tour with Mike petrucci of dream theater and Devin Townsend. I think all three band members of AAL are virtuosos.
Yeah Abasi tends to look after more of the treble aspects of their sound, and Reyes more of the bass aspects, but both guitarists have the full spectrum at their disposal.
Kind of in a different direction, check out the band Thank You Scientist and their video for the song FXMLDR featuring Blue Coats. I just saw them live a couple of weeks ago and they sound amazing live.
Saw these fellas open for Dream Theater about one month ago. Wonderful musicians
Saw Animals As Leaders live with the Dreamsonic tour this year Tosin Abasi the lead guitar player is definitely an S-tier legend. And he definitely could be playing it live here.
Bro, you should check out some old Sepultura. Ball busting Brazilian metal band. Start with Refuse/Resist or Roots Bloody Roots 🤘🇦🇺 🇧🇷🤘
I left a comment on the other video. But you'd like Blotted Science too. Cretaceous Cavern. Techy goodness.
AAL is next level and leads you from here pretty much into fusion after a while. Virgil Donati power fusion stuff, like Red Air...
Also there's Sarah Longfield, she did some great 8 string stuff.
[old man waffling noises continue and fade]
Javier, toisan, matt. Ooft ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Broooooooo.... if you didn't get here it was comin direct from me! Youre on a helluva a path!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Your evolution has been swift ❤❤❤
Damn Navene K looks so young in this video
You should check out some of their playthroughs. Matt Garstka the drummer has many. Lead guitarist Tosin Abasi has a few as well. “Wave of Babies” is great!
Ha, i knew it. I knew you'd do this one next!! 🤘🤘
Had to come back for more 🤣
@@sevsimo oh, absolutely. And btw, thank you for making me get into espresso lol. I've been doing a double shot every morning. I love it 🤘😎
@@sevsimo Please listen to all the songs of them XD
💪🏻🤘🏻
If you want to check out some of their newest stuff, I'd highly recommend Red Miso, preferably the drum playthrough bc it's absolutely stellar.
Ooor if you want to see more of this drummer, have you seen Entheos, yet?
Awesome will check it out! Nah no Entheos, will have to check them out too cheers man!
@@sevsimo The World Without Us is my favourite of theirs, would definitely recommend to check out that one.
Have fun :)
You need to hear a thumping section, so i'd go for The Woven web. For something lighter from them, try my fav song of theirs The Brain Dance.
2 eight strings with loops and a bass in the mix
Saw them in april sydney. Fuck my life it was amazing
Oh that would have been sick man!
tosin abasi and the boys lay that shit down. His eight string provides enough low end no bass needed
It's 2 lead guitars and drums. No vocals. The second guitar is tuned down 8 string so it can provide base notes without actually being a bass
May I suggest Porcupine Tree, “Anesthetize”, more excellent progressive rock/metal.
That's another one I was going to suggest. So good
Saw Animals as Leaders open for Devin Townsend, Monuments opened for them - nice small venue, The Pheonix, in Toronto - show was a blast, these guys live is a sensory experience - almost overwhelming
That would have been awesome!
Both guitarist are playing an 8 string guitar by the way..
anyone else think he might be ready for some ARCHSPIRE?
Already done my man 👌👌👌
checking it out now-saw them liv e couple months ago fukkin stellar!@@sevsimo
My brother... if youre here now.. look up Toska. Worth your time
Saw them live in Gävle, Sweden back in 2019. Together with TesseracT, Freak Kitchen and Jinjer.
They forced the whole audience to clap in 13/16 FFS!!!
Or, 13/8 perhaps... can't count...
ANIMALS AS LEADERS - Monomyth (Matt Garstka Drum Playthrough) i bet you will like awesomeoness
BTW you ever lissen to the band Haken
Lol I just finished your other video and you drop this one 2 minutes ago XD ok watching
Haha enjoy my friend thanks for watching!
Both guitarists use 8 string, so they carry the bass line too.
Guess why I just had to get myself an 8 string?
Monomyth
No bass necessary. Two 8 string guitars carry the low end well
If you like interesting bands, also check out Coheed and Cambria.
@sevsimoreacts if you want I know an incredible choppy music named The Dreaded Mystic Abyss by Shadow of Intent. 10 minutes of pure magic without a voice, only instruments 👍.
awesome will check it out thank you!
Tosin might be the most innovative guitarist since, I dunno, Greg Howe.. Pick someone at that level. Listen to Greg Howe too. Fuck.
You arent wrong though.. They smile while performing live. Check one out, there is nothing lost. Also Matt Garstka, who's been on drums for them last 8-9 years, is top 3 drummer all time imo. Big fitness guys as well. Red miso would be my next AAL suggestion
An instrumental band. Hmmm.
