Kiss "Alive" was the first record that my parents bought for me in my life. At 10 yrs. old in 1975-'76 when Alive was new, (1975) I chose the album strictly for the pictures of the concert on the back of the album. I saw the sea of people who were there to see the concert and it made me want to be there... lol. As soon as I heard the opening crowd roaring in anticipation and the music started with a bombastic explosion at the beginning of "Deuce", I was hooked from moment one! My Kiss days lasted until I heard "I was made for loving you" and gave them up on the spot for going disco... lol.

I am confused why you are confused. As a person ages, the vocal chords elongate, dropping range from the register of the voice. It doesn't matter that the person is a professional vocalist. Voice lessons can preserve some of the range, but not all of it. Nearly every aging artist that attempts to cash in on the early success of their career, by playing live shows, gets exposed for having lost their range, think David Lee Roth, Geddy Lee, Sebastian Bach - Axl Rose - as just a few standout examples. Age is coming for everyone and if you drink and smoke - or spend a lot of time in those environments....it has the same deleterious effect. Paul's voice is a classic example of someone too proud to take voice lessons and also of laziness. It is clear from these clips that he isn't taking time to sing, that he isn't practicing his instrument.

He's in his 70's it's obvious why his voice has changed it's because he's old now, why scrutinize him for aging? if you are a fan appreciate that he is still performing however expecting him to sing like he did in his earlier years is as stupid as expecting Catlin Jenner to win another gold metal

Paul blew his voice out many years ago. On his Live To Win solo tour, his vocals were solid and he was hitting notes that were jaw dropping. But it was during the latter part of that tour, his voice was showing signs of cracking. Once the originals put the makeup back on in ‘96, his voice was frequently cracking and horse. His age and dehydration damaged his vocal cords beyond repair. He is still a legend frontman and vocalist.

What I have an issue with is his utter shameless hypocrisy. Chastising other bands who used back up tapes and saying years prior that when you cant cut it on stage anymore(he was talking about Ace and Peter) then they dont belong there because the stage is 'sacred ground'. Obviously that doesnt apply to him. They stopped getting my money after the Psycho Circus tour.

Hey Killer King, the clip from Australia you showed was from a performance at a Football Grand Final (AFL) and like a lot of performances from Sporting Events many bands lip sync to control the sound in an open arena like that. Also the venue (Melbourne Cricket Ground) hold almost 100,000 people. KISS have actually only done 2 Farewell Tours, the first in 2001 when they decided to finish up due to conflicts with Ace and Peter during the prior 5 years. 12 months later they reformed with Tommy Thayer taking the Spaceman roll and did the Symphony Show in Melbourne Australia Feb 2003 with Peter on Drums again and continued touring that year through Japan and back to the USA. Peter was again let go and in 2004 till Dec 2nd 2023 they performed recorded and toured with Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer deciding at the end of 2018 to do one final tour called the End of the Road which, because of COVID, was extended and subsequently ending on the 2nd December 2023 at MSG New York. Paul's voice sadly isn't what it was before but he still is the best frontman in the business. There were some backing tracks etc being used in their live shows on the End of the Road but there arent many bands nowadays who dont have some sort of electronic aid. Regardless I was lucky enough to see 4 of the End of The Road Shows here in Australia and for me they were the best I have seen and I am a fan since 1979!! Anyway all the best mate, give Monster and Sonic Boom another listen as I think they stand up.

Way back in the 90s at friends listening to the radio and KISS is doing a Pepsi commercial and Paul's voice was totally fried out, but not Gene's. I told him Gene is singing better and my friend said no way Paul can sing falsetto. I told him meat and potatoes through your chest the voice is going last longer than somebody screaming through their throat. To me, Paul was always a shouter. He always seemed to be just shouting rather then singing. I was born in '68 and the first band I was really introduced to was the Beatles. When I was 8 or 9 I started listening to Kiss but I was really only interested in the songs where they all harmonized, or songs sung by Peter. Peter had a fantastic voice with more texture and variation. He was underutilized in that band. He could be shouty at times too, but the gravel in his voice made it more pleasing.
Paul shouting all those years had a bad impact on his voice. Had he taken a few singing lessons and been taught how to sing properly he would have been far better off in his later years.

I think their last good album was Asylum (1985). Revenge is way overrated. Psycho Circus was a huge letdown. Monster and Sonic Boom are not even worth mentioning. Kiss died a very long time ago then were resurrected briefly in 96 for the Reunion- but they couldn't keep it together. The normal shows were just partly lip synced by Paul (for example Detroit Rock city every secon line was fake and every first line was live). All of Genes vocals were live. The Stadium was 100% lip sync cause it was afootball pre show and in a stadium lip syncing is very common because of the echo. I saw them last year in Munich. It was teriffic!!!!!
But I kinda understand the people that don't like it.
For my part I really don't care.

Do you really expect Paul to sound like he did pre love gun?
If you think you can do better step up.

Did he lose his voice? The entire show has been lip synched and prerecorded since 2018.

Sadly you are probably the last man alive who's been aware of the suck fest that is KISS, let alone Paul's 'woice" as you call it.

I fuckin love it, because Karma is a bitch!!!! You have bashed Peter and Ace forever and now the good lord 🙏 is giving him everything he deserves!!! Peter always had by far the best voice in the band, so Stanley should be used to it and get over it!!! Lol 😂

you have to ask? Yes, he lost it after the 2004 Tour and resorted to backing tracks. Had he been honest about it, he'd have retained some credibility. But rather than admit the obvious and be graceful about it, he lied, deflected and became little more than a well-rehearsed lawyer playing Menudo every night on stage.
