No chance when 1986 had Master Of Puppets, Peace Sells But Who's Buying, and Reign In Blood! I do like a lot of the albums you mentioned. The 80's albums reign supreme!

Of course those three albums are all time classics, but '86 just didn't have the next tier down of albums to put it over the top for me.

I love Divine Intervention! I think it has many of Slayer’s best riffs and grooves.

Was glad that you put Corrosion of Conformity on there. I also would have put two of your honorable mentions in the top 10 Helmet- Betty and Testament- Low but good list overall.

Someone else mentioned Betty to me as well. I do like Helmet, but Betty never really did it for me. Meantime, now that album I've listened to a million times.

I would agree with this. Betty is great.

Wow! That is quite a list. What an amazing year for music.
I have always thought Divine Intervention was under-appreciated. It's one of my favorite Slayer albums.
I know you are not as big of a fan as me, and I am not saying it should replace any of the albums you do have, but Pearl Jam's Vitalogy is a fantastic album from 1994.

Divine Intervention is the pinnacle of avant-garde solos.
Also, Vitalogy just missed the cut for making the list. If it was 12 albums instead of 11, it would have been included.

My top 10 for 1994 would be:
    1. Danzig - 4p
    2. Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
    3. Dio - Strange Highways (U.S. release)
    4. Queensryche - Promised Land
    5. Megadeth - Youthanasia
    6. Soundgarden - SuperUnknown
    7. Mercyful Fate - In The Shadows
    8. Bruce Dickinson - Balls to Picasso
    9. Virgin Steele - The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Pt.1
    10. Prong - Cleansing
I would contend 1990 was a bit stronger than '94:
    1. Judas Priest - Painkiller
    2. Megadeth - Rust In Peace
    3. Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
    4. Danzig - II: Lucifuge
    5. Riot - The Privelege of Power
    6. Samhain - Final Descent
    7. Hellion - The Black Book
    8. King Diamond - The Eye
    9. Alice In Chains - Facelift
    10. Annihilator - Never, Neverland
    Other great years: 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1988.

A suprising choice of year, I would rather say 1970, but hey, I don't listen to HM, only to hardrock, blues and jazz.
Favourite album from 1994 is Soundgarden - Superunknown.

I had all these that year but deliverance (i liked coc ) and 1st korn record.
Superknown is a masterpiece and i remember buying my copy the day OJ was on the run.
And 94 delivering far beyond and futher down was almost mind boggling ...those 2 albums were brutal. Great video. Takes me back and if i had to do it all over id stayed away from rock music and been more into sports to got more vagina back then. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I do lie the AIC ep's though I like mixing them with the songs from teh box set, Sap with the early demos and Jar of Flies with song slike "Get Born Again" and the Last Action Hero songs based on what fits.
Never been a NIN fan, not into industrail, though no hate for those who like it and I get it was a landmark release.
Soundgarden on the other hand I am a fan of. Them and AIC make up my favorites of the Seattle scene from the late 80s early 90s. Like PJ but not as much as those 2. And Superunknown might be my favorite of their's. Badmotorfinger might have something to say about that though.
Didn't love Far Beyond Driven. Like dCowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display. But this album onward was more hit and miss. 5 minutes alone and I'm broken were great as was Shedding Skin, think that was the name and Becomming. But after that I couldn't really get into that one.
I'm kinda hit and miss with Machine Head and Rob has really soured me on the band since 2018. Don't think he's a bad guy just he needs to leave his politics out of things. Heard a liberal even say this guy was a bit too much.
Not really a big Slayer guy, though they have a few good tunes.
Wow C.O.C. is a blast from the past. They have some cool tunes, many on this album. I think Wiseblood was my favorite of their's, but Deliverance is probably number 2 for me.
I remember Cantspeak being the first Danzigsogn I ever heard. Man I kind of miss Zrock, national rock radio station in the 90s. Left my city shortly after I started liking rock and metal.
Not a huge Korn fan, but their debut is probably my favorite. a few good tunes on that one.
Ohh Youthenasia was my second Megadeth album. I really like that one. Lots of nostalgia.
Awake is my favorite DT album.
PJ's Vitology was my first labum from them to get into.
Is it weird I consider Pride and Glory and Zakk's solo stuff just BLS albums?

Hard to argue with that list... just missing Troublegum by Therapy?

According to my media player, the winner of best year of metal is 1987 with 28.3 hours of metal ripped to it. However, 1994 does come in second with 27.3 hours ripped. 1989 takes third place with 26.6 hours of metal ripped. Honorable mentions goes to 1992 with 25.1 hours ripped. God job 1992, but not enough. Sorry, I don't stream anything. I still buy CDs and then rip them.

That's a really cool way to evaluate the years. 1987 definitely has some heavy hitters: Among the Living, Appetite for Destruction, Garage Days Re-revisited, Schizophrenia, etc...

It cannot be metal's best year without a Metallica release, so it definitely has to be one of the 80s!

Ot even close... metal was all but dead by 1993. Bio hazard was around foe years before the 1990s. grunge is not metal. The grunge Era was a temporary death sentence for metal...Pantera perhaps Anthrax were about it.. Slayer, God bless was at their lowest point. SLAYER gets blasted to this day for detuning during the grunge...Koen always always alwas.sucked. Danzig get mention amd deliverance was step up for COC compared to theory previous album...they were around fir ages by.then anyway
