  • “I just kind of do things my way,” says makeup guru, Bobbi Brown, whose appearance on today’s show proves that we are all the masters of our own destiny. Lindsay shared to Instagram that interviewing Bobbi for the podcast was next on her bucket list. Not long after, Bobbi responded saying, “DM me,” proving that when we put what we want out into the world, we can make it happen.
Bobbi shares how she built two majorly successful makeup brands, Bobbi Brown, and later Jones Road Beauty, by following her own lead and being herself. She talks about how it felt to walk away from her first business, separating her brand from her personal identity, and the importance of relationships.
    Top takeaways from this conversation:
*A lot of entrepreneurship is just making stuff up
*Even the most successful people, like Bobbi Brown, suffer from imposter syndrome. You just have to put yourself out there
*Bobbi utilized her expertise and personal brand to teach and build authority-and so should you.
*The importance of spending as much time on your family as you do on your business-find the hacks and shortcuts
*What feel like mountains really aren’t-break things down into actionable steps and figure out what you need to do to move forward
    Quotes
    • “So much of my career is connecting with people. Now, they call it networking. It's just being myself.” (13:27-13:37 | Bobbi)
    • “I'm an upbeat and positive person. Which I think you need to be in order to be a good entrepreneur.” (19:55-20:02 “ Bobbi)
    • “Bobbi Brown the person became a brand, apart from Bobbi Brown the brand.” (33:40-33:46 | Bobbi)

I spent part of my career working for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and loved it more than working for any other brand. Bobbi was still involved in the company during that time and was always such an inspiration. The company changed a lot after she left, and I left a short time after that, as did many of my colleagues. I love Bobbi and her philosophies and am so excited for her new venture with Jones Road. Wishing you ALL the best, Bobbi! xoxo, Jennifer S.

It's so inspirational how she runs the show. Every founder should aspire to care as much as she does.

This is all so beautiful! What a great conversation between women. I'm glad I came across this video. My mom is always telling me about BobbiBrown and how she loves her perspective on life, I think she read her book. I get advertised Jones Road all the time. I just graduated cosmetology school and love makeup as much as I do hair so I want to do both full time in my career.

Lindsay that podcast was amazing. Thank you for showcasing Bobbi Brown. I haven’t had the chance to really listen to her story. So many take always. So positive and uplifting. I just started using Joan’s Road and was so curious about this story. As a 60 year old and first time grandmother, Bobbi’s wisdom really resonated with me. Thank you for sharing your talents in the interview. What a gem.

I have just purchased miracle balm in dusty rose 🌹 it’s truly a miracle ! I am 53 and have lots of dark spots and red splotchy skin due to having mixed connective tissue disease. Suddenly as I’ve grown older I’m finding it really difficult to find a foundation that looks good with my problem skin . I was sceptical of the miracle balm , my skin is so problematic. I know use it as my foundation it’s the perfect shade for my fair complexion. My very expensive search for the holy grail foundation is over and my bank account thanks you Bobbie x

Great conversation. Enjoyed so much. Thank you. I too use Jones Road products but what I just discovered from Bobbi is we share the same age and both became a grandmas with a granddaughter recently. ❤️

I love how Bobbi quit her first college that wasnt serving her and created her our path to educate herself. Then entered the workforce , working hard taking opportunities to learn rather than just "doing her job". I feel so sad of young people sitting in expensive college lecture halls to get a piece of paper, They then wonder why the world didnt open up for them after they took classes and are unfulfilled.

Teach women around her age about clean makeup, market to us, focus on reaching us, create products that suit older skin! Just because we are older doesn't mean we don't want to look our best.

Some of the products are better than others, but just as is the case with any line---some will work better for others too.

Your new product, $60 for some wax with color. Highway robbery and not being an advocate for women.
