Car camper kitchen sink faucet comparison: Testing 4 different battery powered water dispensers

- In my original car camping kitchen video, I showed a simple setup with collapsible sink and USB rechargeable faucets originally designed to pump water from a 5 gallon bottle as a super simple kitchen sink. This is a follow-up from my full car camping kitchen setup video ( • SUV car camping kitche... )
Unfortunately, the one I used dripped when the water bricks were too high above and I dropped it and messed up the touch sensitive button so it doesn't turn on and off reliably. I bought 3 new faucets from Amazon, ranging from $10-16 and tested them out to see which is best.

Like the idea of a rechargeable faucet as seen on your first review. This video is worth its weight in gold!!
was rooting for the toilet paper roll, glad it got an honourable mention!
I still like that little guy. Feels indestructible.
Hey Todd - that video is brilliant. I'm about to build a small Camper in New Zealand and I found a pump like that in the supermarket. So I started doing research and nowhere I could find information if that would actually be able to pull water up like a meter or so. Except for you video. So happy I found that. Thank you so much - I really do appreciate it :)
Thank you for your time and effort’s to show us this can be done
I bought 2 of your original water pumps. I will install mine as part of the water bricks. Thank you so much for your build. I love it and will use parts of it in my own build.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hello Todd, I think the only option here is to fit an inline isolator between water brick and faucet. That way it won't matter how high the water brick is. Just an idea. Keep up your good work and vlogs. From the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you! This is tremendously helpful to those of us planning a conversion! 👍
Glad it’s useful! I needed a replacement and figured others would want to see how these things compared
Loved your idea and already built mine to mimic! One suggestion. Instead of a roll of tape, I actually got a 2" pvc plug (non threaded) at HD which actualy formed a nice snug fit to the bottom of my faucet (like your original one). I drilled a whole in the pvc and it's a nice clean install. I was even able to put the magnets on the inside of the cap so it's just a nice smooth surface! Thanks for the idea and reviews!!
Great tip!
Thank you for the testing.... saves a newbie time and money! Good idea to have a back up too! 💚💛🧡🤎 your videos!!!
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words
@@todd.parker Outstanding video, all the things I want to know before purchasing. I just looked at Amazon reviews, every one star review has the same complaint, it turns on by itself - there's quite a few of them. How has this worked for you over these months?
Thanks for the thorough review. I bought the “toilet paper” faucet and married it to a Reliance Aqua-Tainer cap via DIY (cut the Reliance faucet and retain the threads, then marry with a lucky-to-find PVC pipe fitting and some epoxy). Great improvement in my overlanding water system.
Cool to hear. I got a flip style one fur my minivan build that I really like
With the Dentist Office version you can simply spin the silver faucet 180deg to where it will face straight up, completely eliminating any dripping. I've actually been using this version extensively for over a year, and it's been sitting in my Jeep on a Reliance container, full time, being hammered down bumpy forest roads, 4wd trails, etc. It has 100% surpassed my expectations for reliability, performance, and the charge lasts an incredibly long time! I've never used the others, so no comparison for me.
You are so awesome. Love all the testing. So cool and insightful :)
amazing review. thanks so much! The four button model is updated design. Hoping it does well. Great test!
Hey thanks!
Wow! Thanks so much. Can't tell you how helpful this was Todd.
A couple of years ago I bought a Coleman camp kitchen. I set the sink up with one of those rechargeable camp shower wands. It works great for cleaning up, I'm not so sure about the drinking part though. I just pour the water straight out of the jug.
Thanks for this. I have seen other you tubers install these pumps on a piece of pvc tubing to make them taller. I like the one with the metal spout best so I think I will do that.
Yeah, in my latest build, I used some PVC pipe and it works great
I have the metal spout and have it on pvc pipe now, but yes they are all made to sit on a 3-5 gallon jug, not a table top.
Nice, informative, and thorough... great video dude🤘
I didn't know I needed one of these until I seen your video 🤙
Thanks! 👍
Nice test.... solution to dripping.... CUT OFF VALVE on hose.
Solution for small faucet.... build a metal stand for the height you need... metal bottom for magnets... top has a lip and sides so it can rest on top and not fall off.
My "dentist special" type easily has the metal tube get knocked out. Easy to put back in, but annoying. It also started to not work on my last trip intermittently, so I bought a back up that happens to be the four button. I also use a water storage that has its own spigot to have a back up to a back up. I have been using my set up as a pandemic/allergic to scented hand-soap hand wash station that is always with me.
Thanks for your comparison. I did test out my sink faucet, I used your idea with modifications to work for me (I’ll share next camping trip). Thanks for sharing your idea. Same as you the original fell and stop charging. I ended up getting the dentist as a back up coz we had another camping trip the next day. Love the original design got another, but also kept dentist for backup.
Funny you dropped yours too. That touch sensitive button is just too fragile I think. Glad you had a backup!
Hi Todd- modified so my faucet doesn’t fall down and break again 😩 - here’s my sink thanks for the inspiration!
instagram.com/p/CE8ultIDTLX/?igshid=85rj6va8kv3o
Nice review! I also like the 4 button one. I think the 8 ft test is a bit flawed tho since water can easily continue to flow once it started already so if someone actually installed it 8 feet above it might not work.
Great video and super helpful in picking one for our camper.
I bought the same faucet as your original - per your build - I loved the idea. I haven’t dropped it (yet) and it seems to be working great. The splash is a bit excessive but manageable. My issue is creating a good magnetic attachment to insert into the base of the faucet. Mine works but it’s a bit sloppy. A closer look at how you did your attachment would be super helpful. Thanks!!!
Great to hear it's working well for you! This is what I used but I may try the larger ceramic magnet for the 4 button when I notch it out. The weight of the tubing can cause issues since it can pull it away.

Thank you sooo much loved you vid..the only one I could get was the dentist one in Australia but a tap like these camping can't complain to much.
The dentist one is quite smooth and quiet, even if the design is a bit quirky. Glad it worked you!
Zombie comment... thanks for the reviews! Based on this I just ordered the "four button" one (which only has two buttons now, but looks identical). Also, the size of the tubing was SUPER helpful. I've been looking everywhere for that information!
So happy this was useful. Thanks for watching
Thank you! Great video! I plan on getting a van soon and I was thinking of turning a small desk I has into a sink so I thought getting one of these faucets would be cool. I think I’ll go with the dentist special lol
Cool. In my minivan camper video I’m using one I like even better if you want to check that out
You do comparisons, the way I do comparisons. I subscribed.
Super obsessive? Yep.
@@todd.parker No doubt, you know of "Project Farm" here on UA-cam. I think you're right there with him, but on a smaller scale. That is a compliment, by the way. :-) ;-) :-D
@@bentnickel7487 I love his videos, he's so methodical. My wife thinks I'm nuts watching those but I love applying a bit of science to reviews and comparisons.
Thanks for the comparison. I'm going to modify one to fit directly into the cap on a Spectre jerry can. The "dentist's office" style strikes me as best for my use, and I like how the spout is removable for compact packing. The mini might work, but seems to have too little overhang for easy use filling water bottles and cooking pans.
Good idea, I might try something like that too
Dentist special! Hehe. That was helpful. We are looking at using one of these for a vintage truck camper renovation.
Cool. See my newer minivan video for another one I like even better
This is brilliant perfect for what I need. And I can attach it to the outside of my van when I need to shower 🚿
Great shootout review!
Only one thing is missing... The Drop Test. Obviously this will cost more but that would show the true winner since the 1st one ( sci-fi design ) failed the the unplanned drop test.
True! The 2 I recommend are both super light so I bet they wouldn’t crash as hard. The short one is probably indestructible
Best video ever thank you for sharing. I prefer a black color, but I love the way you put the video together really good job.
I had built a similar setup a few months ago with the “dentist office” style pump. I chose it since the tube can come off and store more compactly, and tube height was not a concern. So far it works well, and would agree the power button is probably the weak point. I used the larger single piece magnet which works very well. If I replace it, I’ll probably go with the toilet paper roll style based on your video. Thanks.
That's great to hear your experience with this setup. Do you experience any dripping or is you water supply lower than the pump?
Todd Parker it didn’t on my initial test, but when I filled the tank to full, my connection leaked at the tank, so the rest of the time the tank was lower than the pump.
How did you attach your circular magnet? I bought the magnet and a circular metal washer today and am looking for simple solutions.
@@pjju2519 I epoxied the magnet to a short PVC pipe section that the faucet will friction fit on
I believe these are all made for the "water cooler" type bottles, correct? I guess that could explain why the manufacturer didn't worry about syphoning, or the height of the dispenser nozzle. In any event, this was a very thorough and informative review. Thank you very much!
Yep, exactly. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! I’m 70, a total novice regarding anything DYI and was wondering how these worked and the setup!
Glad it was helpful!
Вот это тест. Спасибо большое за ваш труд. Вы сэкономите много времени другим людям. Спасибо большое от нас всех.
Thanks for watching.
Translation: "Thank you very much for your work. You will save a lot of time for other people. Thank you very much from all of us."
Really great and helpful post. I’ve been using the manual Walmart hand pump version but it’s really kind of a pain in the behind. Thanks to your post I’ll be going with the 4 button version. Also ordered the FG tubing u suggested. Where did u get the magnet with hole. I really like this idea as it’ll keep my tablet clean looking. My set up to now has been pretty wonky. Look forward to more helpful posts from you😀
Thanks! For my latest build I used one large magnet like this: CMS Magnetics Powerful Cup Magnets 80 LB Holding Power Dia 2.65", Large & Strong Ceramic Round Base Magnets with Mounting Hole, 3 Pieces www.amazon.com/dp/B0195UQBFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W40KWXHKGYH3Y2RS20CV
THANK YOU thank you thank you for that video!!! It save me a lot of worries and money!!!
Great video! Extremely helpful, thank you.
Great test. Thank you.
Dentist special for me! Going to wrap the stainless tube in a black heat shrink so it’s not so ugly
Thanks! Short one could be mounted on a piece of wood. Can you follow up with the four button to see how accurate the measurements are? Would like to see a test of foot pump faucets.
Great ideas Todd, I’m borrowing 😬
Thanks for the video, it has been really helpful 👍
Glad to hear it!
This is a really useful video. Thank you!
I was looking at these types of water taps quite a while ago and didn’t end up getting one because the prices were all over the place, but didn’t seem to be a good indication of quality.
Now I see that Dometic has one, and I’ve pre-ordered it. Much, much, much more expensive than the ones you got, but I hope that the quality is there and that it’ll last.
I’m curious how the Dometic faucet is, let me know how it is!
@@todd.parker I’m stupidly excited about it and can’t wait for it to arrive. LOLOL! I’ll be doing a video on it once it does. I did a review of the Dometic water jug which arrived this week. It’s also amazing.
@@todd.parker It arrived, and I’ve tried it out and I love it! I’ve done a review of it that’ll be published in about 24 hours from now. I also mentioned your vid in mine. 😊

Awesome video, thanks for the info.
Nice job dude
Thank you for your video...it is very useful! Truly inspired with both the portable tap and the collapsible sink. Can you please share with us in general, where did you get the sink? It looks more than practical enough for our usage. Thank you and best regards...enjoy camping! 🤩👍
Thank you! Links to products are in the description
Great! Great! Great review 👏🏾
Great content, good work!
Much appreciated!
Awesome video. Thanks for doing all this research
Glad you liked it!
these pumps are designed to be above the water brick so in a camper or van it should be fine
If you want to get him for free, you can contact me
Do you know any heavy duty ones ?
@@happyhusky4283 not particularly sure, but if quality is a priority the just get a normal sink tap.
After watching all of these I've decided to just pour water out of a one gallon jug by hand into a dish pan so my challenge would be to get the water from a water brick to a jug.
While traveling and living in a car for long days even small(conveni) automation will be very relaxing and stress relief.
I purchased one like the dentist special and it started leaking so the seller refunded my purchase fee. Bought a second one a year is so later and the charging port fell inside the unit after 5 charges. So I would look for a better quality unit for RV use. Maybe I just had bad luck?
Great idea what kind of tapenis used to seal the hose?
Really helpful video, nicely presented, thanks. Can any of these be attached to a worktop?
Sure, I used magnets in the bottom to connect to by a metal ring
Hey there, super useful video! Thanks for making the time to pull it together. Do you have the link to the 4 button faucet you ultimately recommended? The one linked in the description looks different (the reach of the pourer looks shorter). Thanks!
Hmmm. They might have redesigned.
Great reviews thanks
Could you make a video on how you made the water brick hose and sleeve? Looks clean!
It’s pretty simple. I just bought some plastic loom and pushed the silicone tubing through then added shrink wrap to the ends
Have you tried any new pump comparisons since this one? I'd like to see comparisons with the newer faucets, especially the ones with the folding spigot. 😁👍
I used the folding style in my newer minivan build and it’s my favorite by far: ua-cam.com/video/wMMYf7pREcg/v-deo.html
thank you for this video. Question... what to you use to glue the magnets to the bottom of the faucets? In the video, showed the 6mm ID tubing but I saw a green and then a black more web looking tubing? Is that a cover for the opaque silicone tubing? or some other tubing used instead of the 6 mm tubing you mentioned? thank you
I have some webbing over the silicone tube’s because they’re sticky and get dirty easily. To attach the magnet, I added a block of wood in the base and screwed the magnet to that. Check out my minivan camper video - I show it in detail
When begin do kitchen box, i think those pump, but in taobao have many kind of pump 60W can shower and very cheap use 12V. It only 60RMB for pump and shower, very cheap if use it with 12v car output, for safety, you can bring more lipo battery 14.8v for start car when car battey empty
Thanks for the post, I really like your narration tone and tenor, very soothing and professional. Do you have an estimate of how much water the battery can pump per charge, and how often you have to recharge it? I'm thinking that it might be just as easy to plug a 12 volt pump into a cigarette lighter, if I have to worry about keeping the battery charged, as there does not seems to be any charge indicator on any of the pumps. I assume that they all use a similar battery, is that true? Also, do you know the battery chemistry and whether or not the battery can be replaced on any of the pumps? Lastly, it would be great if you could update with any durability information. I'm trying to decide if these battery powered units will function adequately compared to a 12 volt dedicated pump system for RV hand/dish washing sink.
I think these all use lithium cells but smaller ones. They claim to pump quite a bit of water so seems you'd need to charge them weekly at most? On their Amazon pages, you'll find specifics.
have you put a hose on baby pump,
very good review
Hi
What fitting did you use on your water brick cap to connect the tube? How did you install it? Thank you
Watch my SUV camper video - I show that in depth
Thanks for the info 👍👍👍
How did you secure these to the counter for the end use of the keeper? Are those earth magnets glued to the underside?
Yep! I have a metal ring on the counter and attached a ceramic magnet to the bottom of the faucet. See my minivan camper video for details
Great video!!! So I want to do something like this in my semi truck so I can have a sink/water to fill dog bowl and for dishes if needed. Can you advise how you set up your water brick with the hose?
Sure, I cover that in detail here: ua-cam.com/video/-lnrjXyIWL8/v-deo.html
Thanks!
Hi mate,
nice video. Been looking at taps to go on a large open mouth screw cap bottle, I know these are not made to attach to one. I see you adapted one, so if I drilled the right size hole then use silicone or glue to adhere a screw cap (airtight) for the bottle I use is there any reason you think this will not work?
Cheers,
Brian
Seems like a good idea
I've been using one of these in my camping setup, any ideas how to clean and sanitize the faucet and hose between uses? My hose got funky (mildew?) and I'm sure the faucet has as well.
You could run bleach water through it. If you see mold, you should definitely replace it and consider doing the same for the faucet
How did you mount these faucets on the countertop ? Also are any of these outdoor rated ?
Check out my minivan camper video where I show how I built a magnet mount that works great. These are not outdoor rated unfortunately, Check out the Dometic Go faucet - it might be more rugged but is 10x more expensive.
Unfortunately, the four button model is currently unavailable
Nifty ideas thanks
They stopped making or providing that 4 button one on Amazon. Bummer!
Very GOOD video.
Thank you very much!
question- how does the tube go into the water brick? I am a total novice.
I drilled a hole in the cap and pushed the hose through. Not 100% leak proof if you tip it over but it's stored vertical in the car
I have one usb chargeable pump installe on my van table. The problem is that is leaks from down, at the bottom. So I have to dry my table every time I have used the pump. Not nice.
Anyone has a pump that does not leak/have holes or gaps in the bottom? My water backet is on the floor, so dripping from the hose is not a problem.
I wonder if the 2 smallest faucets are meant to sit on top of a sparkletts type bottle?
They are for sure.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
Do any of these actually screw onto the 5 gallon water jug for a seal? I'm a trucker and want to be environmentally friendly but things jump around
It’s a loose friction fit but I bet you could wrap some tape around the top to make it tight and strap the bottle down so it doesn’t tip
The dripping got me thinking to just have a gravity fed system. Two tanks on roof. One insulated for cold water, one black for hot.
Putting water weight on the roof of a car is a bad idea
@@6foot8jesuspilledpureblood82 Not a "car"... A very sturdy cargo van with extra reinforcement roof beams. The tank will be only inches in height, but width of entire roof... for even weight distribution. 5-10 gallons of water, 40-80lbs... less than two bicycles w/rack.
Hi..do you happen to have a link for the water brick and the collapsing sink?
In my car camping video there are links to all the products I used
Where can I find the magnet holder in the video?
I just attached some magnets to the bottom with hot glue
problem: it isnt universal for all 5 gallon jugs especially the blue ones... mine has a screw top and the faucet i ordered doesnt fit.
I think these are intentionally loose on a 5 gallon container so there isn't an airlock
Ty sir
Could you please explain how the slide under board build?
Watch my earlier car camper video for the dull details

@@todd.parker thanks for your info.
So if water is stored under the sink none of those would leak?
Correct. In my minivan build I moved the tank below and it never leaks
2:42 lol wasn't expecting malay here, it's Indonesian instead of Malaysian.
If I connected a water heater, would it be safe to use these with hot water?
Good question. I’d think it would be fine since hot water for washing really isn’t too that hot.
Did you do any reviews of non-usb pumps?
I hate usb anything. They eventually lose their charge capacity so they only work for 30 seconds.
I prefer solar or just hand-pump.
Sorry, no.
My father's class b used a marine foot pump which was nice because it keeps both hands free for washing dishes or yourself
@@raymondclark1785 Yes! These are great.
For the dentist one, couldn't you just turn the metal rod up to stop the dripping?
I tried that and there is just too much pressure behind the pump from the tank to hold it back. The solution is to make sure you water talk is below the facet and there's zero drips.
@@todd.parker Good to know, thank you!
Oh and can it handle warm /hot water dispensing?
Good question, I haven’t tried that
try putting a check valve inline with the tank hose
I was looking into that but the problem is the water is flowing in the direction you need it to go with the pump on. It’s not a reverse flow issue, it’s a back pressure one.
@@todd.parker yeah but a little spring pressure once the pump has stopped will help with the dripping
or you could make a weighted valve
All good ideas. In my next build I’m going to have my tanks below the surface to avoid the issue but not everyone can
I've watched a couple of your videos and you got a new subscriber today. Let me return the tip, hope you read your comments! I do tech support and the amount of people that get their accounts banned from Amazon for too many returns is a real thing... Wouldn't want you to think you can just buy and return stuff willy nilly like that as it will catch up with you sooner rather than later. My .02 watts.
Hey thanks. I actually try to avoid returning things to Amazon now that I know they throw away the majority of products. So wasteful.
Whats the best way to mount it
Watch my minivan build because I show some details on how to do it
having a tough time figuring out how to attach ... with magnets etc!
Basically you want to attach a big magnet on the bottom then attach it up a piece of steel you bolt to the table top. You’ll need to cut a pice of wood to fill the bottom of the tube on the faucet to hold the magnet
@@todd.parker okay I am now going to dream up a design! my camp kitchen build is slightly different so I am going to create a modular piece .. when I post I will check In to have you take a look :) thanks for the inspiration!!!!!
Did you find a reliable way to mount this style of faucet to a counter top?
A 2” PVC pipe fits in the base. You could use a flange or I wedged in a piece of wood and bolted a big magnet on the bottom. I’ll cover it in a future video
@@todd.parker that would be awesome, thanks!
@@todd.parker Can't wait till see, I have a couple supplies now trying to figure out best way to mount with circular magnet and metal washer. Thinking i need to cut out proper sized circular wood plugs. Or create a pvc riser since my dentists special needs more gets anyway...
@@pjju2519 I wedged a 2x2 piece of wood in the base of the PVC pipe (was pretty tight, had to lightly round the corners for it to squeeze in) and added one countersunk screw through the PVC and into the wood to made sure it wouldn’t slide out. That gave me a flat piece of wood at the end of the pipe and I used that to mount a large ceramic magnet to the bottom - it had a hole in the center for a screw. On the surface, I just took a circle of steel, drilled a hole in the center and screwed that down to the wood top. That’s it.
