Ambush Island produces the PERCH at Hordle Lakes

- It's mid February and not a frost in sight as the mild weather and rain brings the Carp and Skimmer Bream on the feed despite BIG PERCH being the target. With patience, prawns and lobworms the temptation is too much as the Perch finally move in around Ambush Island when all seems lost. This episode of Fishing Tail Films is a 3 day road trip adventure at Hordle Lakes in Hampshire with Perch the main target.

Hi Russ, very enjoyable and a lovely roach to go with some cracking perch, that last one was a proper warrior 👍🎣🎣
Thank you Alex, was a very enjoyable trip to Hordle with some nice fish including that warrior 🎣🐟
Great vid russ really enjoyed 👍
Thank you Luke, pleased you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching 👍

Thanks Iain 👍🍺 thank you for watching
nice video and a pleasuer to watch
Appreciate your comments Brian, thank you
Hi Russ, nice film. Given me some appetite for a perch bash. All commercials contain some good roach, very few fish for them or the perch. They get fat and largely ignored by the casual and match anglers. Carp, carp, carp! My problem is, there are not too many commercials near me. As you know I live in gravel pit carp/tench/bream city heaven. I used to visit Royal Berks when I was 'Hillingdon' based, had some nice stripe's there too. However, If it's not within an hour or so, I no longer bother. I do however have a smallish very deep semi commercial heavy stocked day ticket water nearby. Some real good roach in there! Now, I know it contains perch, lot's of little sergeants, I would be surprised if it did not have some big'uns in there on the shallow near shelf. The middle is very open, no islands, so it's going to be the margins. It was good to see Keith in the film, I really enjoyed guiding him on the BW. We really must catch up some time Russ. Crispy, Chris G.
Hi Chris, pleased you enjoyed the film and that it gives you the urge for some Perch fishing soon. Royal Berks is on my list for some Perch fishing at some point. Be good to catch up for sure 👍 Thanks for watching the video and carry on catching, Russ
Hi Russ love the video and the mention , we met on day 2 and I was in the swim you were in on day 1. Great little venue for good sized perch and roach. Maybe see on the complex again ! Maybe try long lake next time big perch in there too!
Hi Paul really pleased you enjoyed the video and I enjoyed our chat on the bank. I will give the long lake a try next time as well for sure and hopefully see you again. All the best, Russ
Nice there eh mate,it all came good in the end I reckon for you and your mates, certainly wet underfoot everywhere, enjoyed that mate .
Hi Paul, it certainly did. Managed to find a couple of decent Perch around that island. I shall look forward to a return in the near future. Thank you for watching, Russ
Well done, very enjoyable watch.
Thank you Mark
Great specimen fish , does the lake allow spinners? Great video buddy.
Thank you David pleased you enjoyed the video. No spinners are allowed at Hordle also they ban the use of live or dead baits as well. I saw a huge Perch slam a silver right in front of my swim on day 1 chased it for about 8ft until it I assume gobbled it up.
Thank you for a nice video, was that the darent valley 11’ 0,75lb rods?
I’m thinking of getting myself a pair for Roach, Perch Rudd and small Crucians
Thank you or liking the video Marcus, I was using the 1.25tc versions but the 0.75lbs tc will be perfect for the Roach, Perch Rudd and Crucians. They are fantastic little rods and a great price as well. 👍
Thank ypu sir!
Keiths fish was the same one you had on day one. Same half tail and spot near dorsal fin.😂
@@chriswhite-zv6ou You are right Chris, when I looked back at the film footage for editing I saw the same little growth near its dorsal fin. It weighed 1 ounce more for Keith. Well spotted 👍
Try a live minnow
Hi James, I believe live baits are not allowed at the fishery but I kept thinking to myself a live would produce.
@@johnh5660 I love my river fishing as well John but over the years had some great Perch fishing from a few commercials and looking forward to some more winter perching this year 👍🐟🎣
@@johnh5660 Sounds great and good luck John 🪱🍤🎣 cheers Russ
