My review of the Motorola ThinkPhone after six weeks of use. I'm really loving it more and more each time I pick it up. I understand where people might have doubts with Moto burning so many people with software updates, but so far, so good.

And don't forget about that security software as well!
Used to have a moto phone as a work phone and loved it. Have used nothing but Samsung for personal for the last 10 plus years and am ready for a change. I just picked up the Thinkphone for $399 on Amazon and am excited to give it a try.
How's it holding up after 5 months?
@@therealtech833 Love it! Zero complaints so far. At $400 If I get 2 or 3 years out of it I'll be more than satisfied.
This phone is reminiscint of Blackberry z10 . It's been flawless and regularly updated. Motorola is a whole new company this year .
I hope that keeps up! But so far, so good.
More important to have 4/5 year’s of security patches, than being updated to the next Android version, will Motorola actually keep their promise of reasonable quick security updates?.
Tht might matter for you, but Android updates, coincide with the reliability and functionality of apps ,security updates. As long as you careful, haven't rooted your phone etc. Aren't really that necessary they aren't PCs
Got Android 13 on the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, their flagship, after almost 1 year that OS version launched. The upgrade had been smooth, no bugs, but... It didn't even come with better camera app, nor with a better Ready For, etc. I get that they might upgrade those apps and functionalities separately, but one wonders what take Lenovo/Motorola to make users wait for so long, especially with their almost stock Android skin. I'm sticking with this phone for now, but I sincerely hope Lenovo/Motorola improves apps and software experience. Because right now, hardware is a little bit the same wherever you look at.
I think ready for is distinctly thinkphone.
Have been burned by Motorola too many times. Until I see real world updates & security patches from Motorola I will not be returning! That's why I went back to Samsung. Got the a14 5g & having no issues with it. Got One UI 5.1 update the day I bought the phone!
What did you have before?
On sale at Lenovo Pro for $599 as of 19JUNE23.
It that the 100 off for signing up with your email info?
I had the OG razr flip phone, then a moto slider, then moto droid turbo (FANTASTIC PHONE) then my lg v30.. Now im looking back to moto.. theyve never burned me before.. I keep my phones about 4-5 years
Nice video but Motorola still "burns" people with it's software.
Me and my brother used Edge 30 for 1 month and we were happy with it.
But the moment we received Android 13 they ruined a basic function like the brightness control slider, the slider acts all shakey and its impossible to control the brightness properly.
We tried factory reset, set up the device as new and the problems still persists.
We were lucky that the phones were still in the return policy so we got rid of them, yay !!
Samsung and Apple have been known to mess up features with updates too
this or the edge+?
I’m facing the same dilemma, did you ever make a decision?
Yes motorola does indeed "technically" update their phones, though from all previous experience said updates feel like a GSI rom with moto stuff tacked on just enough to "work"
Well these phones are getting updates now my thinkphone is killing it people wake up Motorola the granddaddy of them all is back🎉🙏🏿👍🏿💪🏿
WHO CARE ABOUT UPDATES?? Im literally using android 9 havent had an update since 2020 going just fine
Totally agree. Been using my pixel 3a since it came out without any problems with updates. Cracked the screen this month and replacing it with this phone at $345. Going to miss the compact size but hoping this screen holds up better. Had to replace the screen twice before this last drop.
Are you getting security patches?
Agreed! Don't know why that is such a deal breaker for people.
@@jstdun I ended up getting the think phone and I've gotten plenty of updates (of which I could care less). Also the camera is excellent my iPhone having gf is jealous of it! Another fake complaint. Best phone out there IMO great battery too
@@bc454irocz89 just arrived in the mail yesterday. Look forward to diving in. Been using moto phones for almost a decade.
Thank you for the video! Ordered one. UA-cam deleted comments with promo codes for some reason. But if you use google, you'll find good deal for the Thinkphone
Definitely! I think you'll enjoy it.
Looks really good but i'm goinng o wait till the Zenfone 10 drops later this month .
Nicely done! 😊
I never use AOD on my phones as it just takes one screen tap to wake the phone. I was leaning towards the Edge+ but I prefer the flat screen.
The flat screen and aramid fiber back is really nice on this.
Wow! I have been looking for something to replace my Galaxy S20 FE 5G (which I still really like) and this could be a contender. I need to do a comparison. The price is about the same too.
This should be better, longer, than the S20 FE at this point.
@@StevealiciousTech I did the comparison and found a few tradeoffs. S20 FE has a 3x telephoto lens and an SD card slot. The Thinkphone has twice the internal storage, a bigger battery, faster charging, and a faster and more efficient processor. If it had the telephoto lens, I would say it's a no brainer.
Does it take an eSIM?
In the phone app does it have call screening available under its Google phone app settings.
Goes with Micro maçhines upgrade update and The Android Update and get Security Suites That Antivirus and Internet Security like Esset Antivirus and online security these people who give advice it great Business man phone with Compatible with Lap Top Computer especially Lenovo up and coming Computer Company I Love this phone by Moto
2k or more are overrated. They may look gorgeous, but what's the point when most mobile service providers cap streaming to between 480p to 720p even on $70+ plans.
What's the SOT on this phone and how many days do you get out of the battery?
This phone reminds me a lot of my Oneplus 10 Pro phone. I've been spoiled with a 50w wireless charging which I wish this has.
This has 68w
@@Princeton_James When wired it's 68w, wireless is only 15w.
How's the 10 pros camera? I liked the 7t camera I had, but don't want to spend a fortune!
Did it end up getting Android 14?
I want to replace my S8 Active. My main concern is the screen; my S8 Active has horrible OLED burns ALL over the screen, it's horrible to watch any content on it. Has the OLED technology improved? I don't care about 144hz, in fact, I'd set it to 60Hz to save battery. But I'm afraid of pixel burns.
I don't know why...it's only 6 years old 😂
@@wlonsdale1 there are OLED TVs older than 6 years old without pixel burns...
My Moto g stylus 2022 is still stuck on Android 11. I love Motorola but waiting for updates!! I want android 12!!
Yep, no defense for the older devices. They absolutely have stunk with that.
My Moto G Stylus 2022 Got Android 12 a Whole Month Ago
@@UwUAveythyst Just say a month. You don't need to say "Whole".
Android 12 was a flop, better to get on Android 13 at least.
Would you recommend this, an S 23 fe or Oneplus 10 pro ot 10t? I miss fast charging from my 7t but want a good camera. Currently have a Pixel 6a but hate the poor signal, heat and unpredictable battery drain.
Cameras are pretty good on this. It isn't a flagship device though
@@wlonsdale1 I'm still tempted by this phone but may just scrape up enough pennies for a OnePlus 12. I swear my pixel only works well when I threaten to replace it! Thanks for the reply!
When will it come to india?
Thinkphone is an interesting concept but the screen is too small on it and the edges are too sharp- The audio is loud but distorts and is all high end without any bass tones very disappointing - The canera is awful as well Moto used to make good cameras on the phones- In addition the Thinkphone is slippery in your hand where it can easily slip out and drop- It is ok if you intend yo use it strickly as a business phone not for personal use at all
is it a flat screen? the Edge + 2023 had a rounded edge and I didn't like it, text flowed off the edges, and any tap on or near the edge took several attempts to get it... I'm sticking with flat screen phones for now...
It is a flat display, yes.
I have this phone and Motorola has been keeping up with the security updates.
How's the camera? I have a pixel 6a and the camera is good but everything else is a dumpster fire. I use it less because I hate the phone, but love taking pics of my kids. I had one plus 7t before and thought it was a good camera.
@@bjperez9076cameras are really very good. Not pixel level but that's not its focus
Can the red programmable button be used as a shutter button for the camera?
Good question, I don't know actually.
No, it can't sadly. But it can do so many other things, including launching any app you want. I use it to pause/play music. I love this one. Very solid build and very responsive. Extremely fast charging. At this price point it's a super bargain. I was lucky and got it for $629. Btw, i follow you on Instagram 😁
I just checked and volume keys can be used to snap pics or start/stop video recording
@@jeffchandler3390 Great information, thanks so much!
This or edge 40 pro?
