Marvellous. No one plays like Valentina, giving so much expression to each note. Genius. Valentina, I listen to you playing Schubert every day. You have been giving me many hours of sublime musical pleasure. Thank you!
I am 56 years old and I am buying a baby grand to start playing because of this lady. I don't care if I never play well I just need to learn more about what's going on with a piano. My mother was an excellent piano and organ player. I am starting right at the beginning...chopsticks I think? I Just RETIRED So I have 12 to 14 hours a day to spare! HaHa!
Joe: You need to read "Piano Lessons. Music, Love & True Adventures", written by one of NPR's hosts Noah Adams. It's about a 50 year-old man who decides to start playing the piano.
You are never too old to learn how to play like this. There's a lady whom my piano teacher tutors that plays outstandingly and she's in her 70's. And I absolutely admire how far she's come. When you put your heart and mind into it, anything is achievable, regardless of age.
i have listened to these Improptus many times performed by Rubinstein, Horowitz, Dinu Lipati, Brendel, Kempf... and I cherish them all, but Valentina has totally stolen my heart! She is a sublime pianist, plus the recordings have wonderful sound and camera work. Schubert must be delighted in Heaven.
what I love about her: she's not pretentious, the focus of her perfomances is on the music and not her, and every movement she does seems to be out of real emotion.
I may be 11 years late but oh well. This is very true, I think. Many people say that you have truly become a great player when you learn how to incorporate yourself into the music. I think that you become one when you fully remove yourself from it. But who knows? I am sure that they have reasons why they think that the same way I do. But either way, this playing is gorgeous. I agree with what you’re saying
I'd actually say the opposite, shes on the fairly show off-ish, bombtastic side of pianists. It doesn't really show much in this video, because this particular piece is not the most virtuostic. But even still, this performance is more out there than other performances.
I just have to say that this incredibly gifted lady inspired me to learn Chopin's Minute Waltz about 20 months ago after I heard & saw her video, & now I'm also posting videos. I certainly have a ways to go, but I'm so grateful & thankful for Valentina & the others who have devoted much of themselves to this remarkable expression of LOVE!!! Thank You! I want this piece played at my wedding!
What make her incredible is that if one was blind, you could hear her passion and talent in her music. If one was deaf, you could SEE her passion and talent in how she plays. And that is what makes a pianist great
whoever says this is not natural doesn't know what they are talking about. your hand movement on the piano is the most relaxed and natural that i've ever seen. it looks effortless and of course gorgeous. it was amazing; simple as that. i loved listening to you. keep playing ♥
Merci.
Thank you Valentina, and Happy new year. I hope you'll achieve all your dreams. Many Shubert's lovers are awaiting artists like you. There are so much happiness, a mix of joy and tears, and strength and serenity in our friend Shubert's heart I would like you to share with us. I wish you'll make your life a wonderful journey. Philippe
it is longtime i am falling in love with that superb amazing pianist....cela fait deja un bon moment que je suis tombe en amour avec cette merveilleuse pianiste,je la voit presque dans ma soupe...sans blague je suis moi meme pianiste depuis 40 ans et je suis un critique dur et sans passe droit ni pitie, mais Valentina me fait des papillons dans le ventre!!!! jeu brillant, intelligent, puissant, expressif, precis, respectueux de l'auteur,et en plus elle ressemble a un ange!!! BRAVO!!!
As an amateur pianist and a classical music lover, I'm always drawn to Schubert for some reason (and Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff and Chopin, of course). Always love Valentina's performances. Such a beautiful spirit. Thank you for sharing.
Soberbiamente, Magistralmente interpretado!!!!.Sensibilidad extrema, delicadeza contenida, manos envolventes. Mi tema favorito. Gracias Valentina por este REGALAZOOOO.Admiradora incondicional.
I loved the way you put that. Music is that which cannot be put into words and can no longer remain silent. When the days are bad and my spirit is conflicted, I find music to be the one place I can float to, that tell me, that Love does truly exist and that everything will be okay... cheers,
Stesus. You are absolutely onto it as far as this lady goes. I have seen some pianists in my 70 years on this earth but not one to hold a candle to this one. A heavenly creature with an amazing brain when it comes to the piano.
Valentina could read the phone bookout to me from A to Z and back....I would adore her even if she got stuck at the letter H....nothing rimes to that...love your,Valentina
I had other inspiration when I learned this beautiful Impromptu by Schubert (Artur Rubinstein). And later I was completely blown away by Krystian Zimerman! :D
valentina, you are my idol.. you've inspired me to learn piano as good as you are... i've just started taking piano lessons for about a year and there are times when i felt so frustrated because i'm already 22 and i'm only at beginner's level... how i wish i have a 24 hour piano teacher at home...
This is the most beautiful rendition of this impromptu I have ever heard. Thank you, Valentina. I have a student who will be working on this soon. This will be a great inspiration for him.
I really like most of the studios Valentina records in, they are usually very good. The close up sound of this one allowed you to hear the true tones of the piano.
Valentina was in Brazil about 2-3 years ago, in Sao Paulo, playing. I think it will prolong a considerable time to her come back here. ( I live in Brazil too )
Buying a Shubert's CD 9.99$ Going to a Lisitsa's concert 20$ .......... Lisitsa playing Shubert's impromptu is PRICELESS Thanks for this amazing piece, it made me cry BRAVO
Using arm motion helps get to you next note faster. When I started playing the piano I thought the same. But 7 years later I saw Valentina play in her unique way and it helped me pronounce the notes in a greater way.
Valentina, your Chopin is... i have no words. I love this Schubert melody. You are from another Galaxy! I love your playing! thanks for your lovely music Esteban
Beautiful music and and an atmosphere that lingers around long after the piano went silent: Thank you Valentina, for creating such a dreamy atmosphere! George.
Schubert estaria sensibilizado!!! Grande domínio técnico pianístico!
Just amazing. I could listen to this all day. At times it looks like you are stroking the piano. A lovely interpretation of this piece. Thank you for sharing it with me.
I love this impromptu, and hearing it played so well. I think it represents the apex of Schubert's achievement in keyboard works, why I can't really say. It seems so comprehensive in its inclusion of the many vocal styles that are found in his works, but so unified and structurally sound. It is almost the perfect composition to my unsophisticated ears. The other impromptus all have their various tonal qualities and technical quirks, but this seems to have it all. And a beautiful theme foremost.
man, my dad used to make me practice this for a long time... brings back fond memories... NOT! I'm glad there are great pianists like you that allow me to enjoy the music without having to play it myself =) thanks for sharing.
@Tubztele- Many thanks for the tips. I loved Yuja Wang playing Gretchen am Spinnrade. But could not find videos of K.Zimmerman playing Schubert, only audios. Except now I've become addicted to watching Valentina's beautiful hands... Her videos are so well made- the cameras, editing, the lighting, everything is artistically done, so watching them is much more pleasurable than just listening.
i have Uchida's interpretation on the Schubert impromptus in my car now for one year..yes she play it with passion...very nice...i wrote often about that..

Have fun and enjoy! :) From germany.
I envy your Passion. I hope your wishs come true in near future. Thumb up~!!

Valentina's interpretation of this piece is rich with emotion yet sacrifices nothing to precision. This performance is sublimely beautiful.
I love the old Lisitsa videos like this: single shot, not over-edited audio.
i have listened to these Improptus many times performed by Rubinstein, Horowitz, Dinu Lipati, Brendel, Kempf... and I cherish them all, but Valentina has totally stolen my heart! She is a sublime pianist, plus the recordings have wonderful sound and camera work. Schubert must be delighted in Heaven.
I've never seen any pianist who's fingers danced quite like yours. They're almost as enchanting to watch as the music is to listen to.

Genuine joy for the music
Her hands are so fluid. It's mesmerizing.
What a waste of movement! This is not good Schubert! I do not know which composer this style fits.

I LOVE her playing--period. She looks like she was BORN to play the piano--and play it brilliantly.

Her playing is absolutely beautiful. You can see she really puts her heart and soul into the music
I was so happy to see your recital yesterday..I shedded tears because the recital was strikingly beautiful. Thank you. I love for you to play piano.

I become a dream feeling by admiring the movement of flowing , supple fingers and the sound of a gentle piano .
Schubert is my favorite composer..I learned to sing his Ave Maria, and I fell in love with it.
Look at how she flutters her hands gracefully! Thanks for the music.

It’s wonderful for such things. I find it very nice to refer back to because it helps with the character.

One of the best melodies played by the best pianist!

The ease of Valentina's playing reminds me of Horowitz and Rubenstein. To just caress and ease the sound out with no apparent effort. Wonderful.
This is amazing. Thank you Valentina L.
One of my fav pianist !!!!!It is extremely amazing !A beautiful melody!Good technique!!!I love it so much>
Quale musica, tale interpretazione ! Brava, bravissima !
This is the most beautiful rendition of this impromptu I have ever heard. Thank you, Valentina. I have a student who will be working on this soon. This will be a great inspiration for him.

Listen to it again in 2017, and still touched me a lot
Every time I listen to this I find it just as incredible as the first time. I use it to lift my mood in these troubled times.
Got Me waving my hands like I'm in church. OMG'oodness! Those triplets near the end are so impressive!

Truly wonderful. Gracious, reflective, yet strong. Lyrical, but a hit of wit. Goodness, a beautiful performance. Wonderful to hear and see you play!
Such passion, such sorrow, such beauty...
Val, this has to be my all time favorite rendition of this masterpiece. Thank you so much for uploading this.

I know im not the only one, bud Valentina, you are my IDOL!!! Love You so much!!
Please come to Europe!!
Without any doubt, Mrs. Lisitsa is a very good piano player. Franz Liszt said to a female student: "Liebes Kind, tun sie nicht so wackeln!"
!!!!!! Блестяще, Валентина!
@ValentinaLisitsa
Lovely when a pianist plays from the soul without any ego. It is divine music then.
Whatever you play.. here Scubert would feel happy
Schubert truly became as great as his idol Beethoven. Fantastic playing
