DJI MINI 2 firmware cannot be downgraded anymore...

If you are one of the unlucky DJI Mini 2 or Air 2S owners who are suffering from any sort of issues such as the poor connection attributed to firmware updates. For example, the latest Mini 2 firmware version 01.03.0000 does not prompt you to update automatically. Even if you just want to roll back / downgrade to an earlier firmware version - in this video I show you how to fix DJI Assistant 2.
►Steps for Mac are below:
Go to the Applications folder... right-click over the DJI assistance 2 app, show package contents, click on contents, MacOS, you will see the file "defaultsettings.ini" then open it with the TextEdit app and modify the settings to 1

got the Air2, and been out flying and came home and not sure what DJI have done with their latest FW but the footage fidelity seems to have taken a downturn with a lot of pixelshinning / blinking in the grass and distance..
so hopefully you can downgrade your fw and get back to scratch.
I really hope that aint a tactic DJI uses in trying to undermine older models in some rancid way to elevate newer models.
You can downgrade using dronehacks. I've got a video about it

I know this dronehacks are lubricating many social media channels where the moral bar aint to high' so they can sell these licenses.. I was viewing this video trying to see if it would help me in solving a problem I started having with my RC Pro Controller and my Air 2s. I shoot a lot of sun rises and sun sets and stream my flights on restream to Facebook and UA-cam while I am shooting. As you know in the Pano Mode the Air 2s will shoot wide angle and 180 as well as others. Up until the middle of June I could see each indivual live shot that was being taken in the pano mode for later stitching. About the middle of June, once I switch from regular photo mode to Pano Mode the feed to Facebook and UA-cam becomes horizontal color bars. The Pano mode shots are clear on the RC Pro controller but the transmission to Restream and ultimately to Facebook and UA-cam is not. Prior to this the streams from the RC Pro to Restream were fine on Facebook and UA-cam. I was thinking that a firmware update may have caused this and I was going to downgrade to an earlier firmware. Any suggestions? Enjoy your channel.
Hi there. I've never streamed while flying, but I can definitely say that flashing your same existing firmware or downgrade to an older version would be high on my list to try.
I have the same problem with my Air2s. Restream worked fine untill a few weeks ago.
Suddenly does nothing anymore.
I have to use the stream url from youtube itself now to stream only to youtube.
I did not find any fix untill now, and restream doesnt know what i am talking about when i mention drones.
They suggest i reconnect youtube and facebook and try again .... wich i already did 10x but didnt help at all.
The Air and air2s are on ARB (Anti rollback) software and you can not downgrade anymore.

@@boixaderafacundo8061 If depends... if your firmware has been locked by DJI then there is only one option and thats to purchase a license. If your firmware version has not been locked yet, then downgrading is free using the dronehacks application. (steps in my dronehacks videos)
Any news about the latest Updates on air 2s? I've heard a lot of problem regarding air2s. All of a sudden the drone fell from the sky. Can you find out more about this issues thanks.
I would use dronehacks (take a look at my dronehacks 1.31 video) and downgrade and unlock the nfz and altitude limits as well as enable FCC mode.

Sorry man I do not. There is special firmware required that is not to anyone outside of dji...

I have the alternative way to upgrade firmware video. You can try that. But it does sound like you're on a version that does not allow you to downgrade anymore... There is no way around that. Only option is to send to dji

Yeah, dji has locked it out... I have another video called "Alternative way to upgrade firmware" that shows you how to do it using dronehacks.
I got the latest Air 2S update which included Remote ID. Even though transmission is not necessary until next year, DJI did not provide an option to turn it off. I regret my decision and DJI made it virtually impossible to downgrade.

Whoaaa, I’d heard this before at some point. THAT stinks. MY question..”HOW FAR” does a person go with the ‘LATEST’ updated firmware BEFORE realizing it’s TOO LATE..and you can’t reverse it? For instance, I haven’t updated my A2S in a WHILE..months. I STILL keep checking it (obviously) making sure it flies and responds with all the corresponding telemetry..even though I don’t fly a lot..

How do I downgrade the Mavic Mini 600 firmware?
You'll need a Drone-Hacks license to be able to go to a lower antirollback version sadly. But then you can enable fcc mode and disable nfz and alt limits which is totally worth it.
Drone is connected but dji assistant isnt picking it up. Just shows the display from 2:36. Help please

Hi there, Check out my latest video. It shows you how to downgrade even a fully updated Air2S. Dronehacks 1.25 update. It means you can use the mode an all Air 2 and Air2S drones regardless on firmware version since you're able to downgrade. Remember to never update your drones firmware.

You can't downgrade sadly because dji put an antirollback lock in it. You'll need a Dronehacks license that costs 40 euro to hack your drone to be able to. Sorry man.

I only want to get the damn thing a few metres in the air in my back yard under big gum trees, but... red zone and all that :)

your video shows dji assistant 2 for mavic supports mavic air 2 (my drone) but when i go download page and select dji assistant 2 for mavic the air 2 is not on list anymore. anyway i tried both v2.0.14 and v2.1.17 and none of these will update my drone and remote. so i guess its over :(

Dji has updated their software to block it. You can use Dronehacks to update/downgrade your firmware. I have a video on how to use it. Just search for Dronehacks 1.25 or Dronehacks 1.26 :)

If dji assitant 2 for comsumer drones does not give you the option to downgarde its because the antirollback version was updated :(

@@InfinityDronesYou are lucky ... there are new Europe´s rules since 01.01.2024 according to altitude limit. 500m works on older FW versions but after the update to newest FW no chance.

It is possible to downgrade the air 2S. As per the video, check the Dronehacks birdmap. There you will see that it is possible.
Does this work on the newer current firmwares? I read that DJI made it so we can't downgrade?

Hello friend. I downgraded my mavic mini from 0.600 to .0400. I wanted to be able to manipulate the parameters. My mavic wants to update the batteries as well. It sees them as new. Should I alow it to update. Thank you.

for me i baught just a used mini 2 which is bound to an account and has latest firmware how can i get to see the old ones to downgrade and is their a possibility for me to get it unbound?

Briefly I finally decided to get a DJI drone, Long story short I heard about the v 01.04.0000 potential issues some people are having after updating. I went out of my way to buy a used mini2 with firmware v 01.03.0000 that's installed on my mini2. So seller knows I don't want it updated and why, he's I suppose unbound his association to the drone and shipping it to me, so.. my big question..
I've already installed the DJI fly app on my Samsung Galaxy s6 tablet and my LG G8 thinQ device and everything is set up with my registration as far as installing and setting up the app on my devices. I'm waiting for the mini2 to arrive. When it does arrive and I am ready to link everything to get flying, then what process should I use to get flying without risk or potentially being forced to update to the firmware version v01.04.0000 most people are unhappy with and cannot be downgraded or rolled back? Remember I'm a newly registered DJI customer never before affiliated with the use of any DJI products, now registered in the fly app waiting for my mini2 to arrive with the last known good, able to be rolled back v 01.03.0000 firmware. @@Roboticdoughbull3k Thanks for the sub! With regards to your question. If your mini 2 is on the latest 01.04.0000 firmware then you cannot roll back or mod the drone. So it is key that you do not update the drones firmware. If your mini 2 come standard with the latest firmware... then you're out of luck i'm afraid....
nice video but unfortunately it did not solve my problem. I have an display model Air 2s that will not take off, and is giving me "incompatible firmware version: code 30224". The DJI Assistant program detects it, and allows me to downgrade firmware, except the whole process takes too long, and the drone runs out of power at about 50% transmission. Any further ideas??
Hi there! Have a look at my Dronehacks 1.26 video. You don't need to buy a licence if you all you need is downgrade the firmware.
However, check the Dronehacks birdmap, you might be on a firmware that does not allow you to downgrade. In that case just flash the latest firmware again and see if that fixes your issue.

Yes you can disable the altitude limits on the mini 2 - BUT you must not have upgrade past .300 firmware - if you have then it is not possible anymore.

hello and congratulations for your video, I have a brand new air 2s with firmware version 02.04.2150. I'm thinking of hacking it but I'm not sure yet.. but before that I'd like to check the drone board by doing an upgrade.. I connected the drone to the assistant but it only allows me to upgrade to the latest version which basically locks the possibility for hacking.. ..so is there any way to be able to upgrade to a version before the last one for example on 02.04.2190 ??? i m very confused..
Hi there. Dji has locked out the option... But you can upgrade to any version you want using dronehacks. Just stay away from the latest firmware version.

Sorry man, only advice I can give you is to install Windows on it (as a virtual machine) - I've never worked with iOS sorry... but there is a much simpler way. Watch my dronehacks videos (especially dronehacks 1.27) for tutorials on how to it. Dronehacks makes it so much easier... but you need Linux or Windows.
So .... Does this mean I'd I buy a brand new Mini 2 that I can downgrade the existing firmware to a older one ?
You just dont know what firmware it was shipped with. Chances are very good that it would still have firmware on that you can mode, but there is not guarantee

When I plug in my mavic mini more than just the log expert pops up. Simulator and firmware update also appear, but nothing to downgrade. When I follow the rest of the steps to allow this downgrade I later find out that I can't find the correct files. Even the local disc file which first pops up for you is not on mine. Why is this?
Did DJI make this downgrade harder to do now? Maybe this is beyond my reach, but I really want to figure this out so I can make the changes to my drone. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

I recently did a few takes and noticed something that caught my attention, in the 'brusque' movements there is a 'lag' that I don't know if it's some framerate setting or similar.
I recorded in 4K 30fps, I just don't remember if it was marked in H.264 or H.265.
The drone is a DJI AIR 2S, is there anything that justifies it?
After this video I did other takes, but none with the fast rotation movement.
I reset the camera settings and it had no effect, I solved it on a palliative basis by changing the FPS to 60.
My memory card is a LEXA 1066x U3 V30 A2 64GB
I performed the test in two ways, with the memory card and without the memory card, and the result was the same. (IMAGE LOCKING WHEN ROTATING AIRCRAFT AXLE)
This problem started to happen (at least I started to notice) after some firmware updates, as before these problems didn't happen (it even worked very well at 30FPS with the same memory card).
Do you have a video or the issue? I'm not 100 % what your issues, but looking at a video might help.

@@SkyWalker-wj9bq the mavic mini is not supported by dronehacks... only to enable CE boost mode (10% more range). Sadly you'll need to move up to a more powerful drone to have access to the mods.

Quick question, will the downgrade firmware help to remove the geo zone lock? I updated my mini 2 and now every time i want to fly it I need to keep asking for permissions to DJI which is becoming very annoy.
no it will not... you can remove the nfz (geo zone lock) by using Dronehacks. I've got a full tutorial on how to do it on the Mini 2.

@@InfinityDrones Too bad you have to pay to downgrade... my drone stopped sending a signal to the control, I tried the control with another drone and it works fine but with mine it doesn't but if I leave the control touching the front leg of the drone it takes it but it does I remove the connection is lost and the only thing they tell me is that it may be the update and they recommend a downgrade. Too bad this friend, what happens with something so expensive.

Where are you trying to fly? City? Are you close to a wifi repeater, cell tower or power lines?

If you've updated to the latest firmware... then DJI has locked you out...
If you havnt updated your firmware to the latest version, you might still have a chance.

@@InfinityDrones So, I managed to access the drone and managed to downgrade the firmware but even doing the downgrade the drone continues to present the same problem, it is giving several calibration errors including the gimball, gps and UMI, however it connects normally with the control and with the cell phone but it keeps flashing all the lights of all colors and it doesn't stop (I'm using the translator because I'm from Brazil, I hope you understand)

@@InfinityDrones Intresting, I decided to take the SD card out before I turn the drone on again and this time let me take off. I turned it off and put SD card back in and turn it on and still works except won't fly side to side a less I switch remote to cine then works in all direction. I guess now it's a settings issue. Not sure if the SD caused the drone unable to take off or just had to sleep overnight for self healing or DJI technical support did something remotely after I called them. Anyway now works again ☝
@@roberth2747 Have you calibrated the obstacle avoidance sensors? Also did you set the obstacle avoidance to bypass or brake?

The air 3 was just released. It is not supported yet. Only option as of now is the dji assitant for consumer drones.

@@ncrrealestate this is not compatible with the air 3 sir. This video was released quite some time ago and there has been many new versions op the application. The latest version of the dji assistant 2 for consumer drones have locked out the feature as explained in this video. Downloading an older version would bring thr feature back but then the compatible of your new air 3 would be lost. Only option for you right now is dronehacks and if your antirollback firmware version is too new then you can't downgrade. Worth a shot though, nothing to loose.

Well, it didn't work "network error please try again" . With my Smart Controller, Mavic 2 Zoom, and now the Air 2s. I've tried multiple cords, and I can even get in and calibrate the sensors. But when I click on Firmware update, I see nothing but the above error message. This has been going on for 2 years. ...............
You can try updating your firmware using dronehacks. Let me know if it works for you. I have videos on how to do it.

just got mine in the mail today and i’ve been up all night trying to flash the firmware but it gets stuck on 100% every time, the firmware on the device is 01.03.0009 and I never connected it to my phone to update it so did DJI send me a device with bricked firmware?

@@kodean let me get this right... your drone is not on official firmware... you cannot upgrade it via dji's own assistant app and you cannot update using the 3rd party tool like Dronehacks? Does your drone work fine? Can you fly it without any errors?
@@InfinityDrones so i followed all your videos even the one where you set the drone up brand new out of the box and i did exactly that but when i open dji assistant it doesn’t recognize the drone even if it’s on and fully charged. the drone hacks application recognizes my device and i’m able to start flashing firmware but when it gets done with a few modules it just starts going by .1% super slow and stops at module progress 100 then i’m forced to restart the application and plug the drone back in and when i do it says my firmware is still on 01.03.0009. i haven’t set it up through my phone yet bc i don’t want it to try and auto update so i’ve never flown or used the actual fly app with the drone. just took it out the box charged it up and plugged into my pc

The dji assitant got updated and this no longer works with all drones. Check out my Dronehacks 1.26 video for the new way which is also free. You only need to pay if you want to remove the nfz and altitude limits

Hello, my issue is that firmware DJI Mini 2 v01.07.0200 has been downloaded, but installment is 40 % and does not move from there. Since then, I get "Aircraft not connected to RC". The red light on the drone is just blinking. Does anyone have the same issue? Thanks

I accidently used a UK update and now my Air 2 is limited to 500 m. I'm so going to downgrade tomorrow to see if I can get that shit out of my drone. I don't even live in the UK.
