    Great video's! Is the 22 300XC TPI also .4 volts on the TPS when the idle screw is all way backed out as well or is that only a TBI setting? My TPS moved when I put the fancy cover on and my bike always runs a little rich so I always wondered if the calibration was off causing the richness.

    Definitely intrigued. In 2012 before KTM locked their ecu we used to create custom tunes using TuneECU. This was critical on my 2012 690 as it was so lean it was backfiring into the airbox. We added 5% fuel across all values and that was perfect. You had 3 settings under the seat, one for poor quality fuel which was a pretty good woods map as it tamed the bike. The regular one and a hot map. We got a bit carried away with the hot map, complete hooligan mode but mostly not rideable as it was so aggressive. Anyway having similar ability to make your own tunes for your preferred riding style does have an appeal. Would like to see some example tune so if you get to messing around with it please give a detailed explanation and insight into how it performs.

    Am I correct? Once you flash the ECU, the changes will be saved and you can disconnect the ERM

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  9 місяців тому

      Yes. The only reason to have it on the bike is if you are doing some modifications to the map while riding to fine tune. Like carrying jets back in the day. Once you’re happy you can leave it at home.

    Thanks for the Vid Morgan. Hey when you flash in basic you have an option of flashing Green or White, I was confused by this do I need to flash both? I just loaded the latest map for my bike then flashed it "Basic" on the white, then I flashed it again by hitting the green selection. What is your opinion on this?
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Went for the medium head as riding in lots of sand at sea level. Can only get 95Ron on the far end of our regular 100-120km desert run too. Should still rip. 🤘😎
    Didn’t like the AA S3 insert in my 15 300EXC… it would cough stall like a four stroke cresting dunes then not start off the button. 🥵 Great on the flat at least. 😂

      Just bought one thanks Morgan. From Steve:
      When you plug the ERM loaded with the MX tune to your bike, it will save the Trail tune that is on your ECU now, and then upload the new MX tune. When the ERM is plugged into your bike, you can select either tune, and make changes to either tune and save your changes as a custom tune.

    How much does that cost?

  • @OtisFlint
    @OtisFlint 9 місяців тому +2

    If you do 1 gallon of E85 and 4 gallons of E10 pump gas you'll end up with E25. Add 6% fuel to the whole map to correct for this, and you can now run more compression with no detonation, and no $15/gallon fuels. Only down side is 6% range loss.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  9 місяців тому +1

      Cool.

    • @andyfedewa710
      @andyfedewa710 9 місяців тому

      FYI, E85 contains UP TO 85% ethanol. It can be dramatically lower depending on the time of year and the relative costs of crude oil and ethanol. Likewise, E10 pump gas contains UP TO 10% ethanol. Therefore, unless you are testing the ethanol content of the fuel each time you buy it, you will not know the actual ethanol content.

    • @OtisFlint
      @OtisFlint 9 місяців тому

      @@andyfedewa710 You don't have to test the pump gas, that's consistently 10% (unless you're buying ethanol free). The sticker says up to, but i've been running content sensors on my street cars for years and they're consistently 10%. Depending on where you live, you may have to test the E85. Our E85 is E62 in the winter to aid with cold start, has nothing to do with prices.

    • @andyfedewa710
      @andyfedewa710 9 місяців тому

      @OtisFlint I work in automotive engine control, and we test each batch of fuel so that we can comprehend the impact on startability and emissions. I can confirm that in the US, both E10 and E85 vary some from batch to batch, and a lot from season to season (summer and winter fuel are very different).
