always glad to see someone trying something new, can't say that this guy had the best attitude about how he didn't really care how it looked for his use, he just didn't want it to look beat up........ ehhh to each his own but for me I'd rather have a cabinet that was properly tolexed but worn out than one that looks like I didn't really care how the tolex job turned out. Keep having fun!
Thanks for the video - I need to re-tolex a 5150 4X12 as well.
Excellent job! Great video! Loved the background music too! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I think I’m going to give it a shot. (thanks to you). Keep up the great work! 🔥🤘👍
I have two PA speakers Passive 12 Inch 2-Way PA/DJ Loudspeaker Cabinet - 700 Watt Full Range PA/DJ Band Live Sound Speaker can I use those two external cabs for electric guitar? Your opinion
I hope you don’t mind me asking this. How much did you pay for the cab? There is one for sell here locally in similar condition that I’m thinking about picking up. Also, what did it cost in supplies to do the repair?
How much glue did you use in total (1 quart, 2 quarts, ect.) ?
Damn😁 Would have been good video with more close ups n I need ear therapy after watching this.
Where did you get the tolex?
Curious, how long did you let that contact cement sit for? 3 days ago I went to retolex a cabinet and I let it sit for almost 1.5 hours and still was not sticking. It was under 60 degrees outside.
3M 90 Spray Adhesive works very well.
Didn’t remove the old glue? Over a long period of time, you’ll start seeing bubbles
How did you clean off the old contact cement? Or did you just put new right over the old?
Probably sanded
Oh man you should have sanded some of that down that will eventually go through the tolex
You’re in Richmond, right?
Yes Sir. Are you local?
WinterGuitars I saw this cabinet on Craigslist a week ago! And just came across this video today - LoL! I knew this cabinet looked familiar! I live north of Boston.
I was trying to see what you did at the front slant. But you are blocking the camera on both of them.
I totally agree. I have built a few slant cabs and never figured out a good way for the angle in the front. Have u had any luck yet? He obviously doesn't reply to his comments.
10:40 a foam roller is much mo' faster
Wood issues are easy. They make a 2 part epoxy wood repair tough sandablevpaintable not hard
What's it called if you can remember? Or where is it sold ?
This isn’t the proper way. You should remove the old glue and your new tolex should be one continuous piece, not separate pieces. Leaves more areas for peeling and vulnerabilities down the road
i now have a headache
Why wouldn’t someone just use a roller for that adhesive? Could have used a roller on 99% of it. Smh
Not fun to watch at 3am I have insomnia, notorious loud
Watching a video of a guy do a thing w/o explanation is dumb. I could just read instructions online for as entertaining as this is. Do a VO next time and explain why you did things so it’s not just nothing to watch
