Thank you! I fixed my sunroof problem. Nothing was wrong with my sunroof until I brought it into the dealership I believe they did this to the car so they could reset it and charge me but you save me a lot of money.
@@eurotrash55 the battery was not disconnected. The motor was clean. I brought it to another Lexus dealership. The entire sunroof assembly was replaced. I was told it had been tampered with. I left my comment basic because it’s a long story.. thanks for your concern.👍🏼
Not gonna lie...I had mine at the dealer TODAY for a new tire. Just got home and the sun roof would almost close and then open again. Just saying. The reset shown on the video worked though. Thank God cuz it was about to start raining. I thought I was gonna be sittting in there with an umbrella. ✌️❤️
@@dangquesadillayoo thats exactly what happened to mine today Would get to the hinge for the wind deflector then just go back like 70-80% of the way open This reset worked but now each time it hits that hinge area it seems to be struggling a bit

Mine was stuck open. I still held open button util it ran through modes but it would not close again. Held close button and it completed another cycle and works perfect now. THANK YOU for posting!
Mine was stuck in the "tilt up" position. Toyota 2003 Sequoia. The reset did not work and it was raining. On another video he suggested that the sunroof may be detecting obstruction or Finger .... therefore ... you tap tap tap the down button. It will very slowly close the window (and I do mean slowly, took about 50 taps ) I'll try to recalibrate or have it checked when it's not raining . Hope this helps someone.
2018 Toyota Camry xse sunroof wouldn't shut would bypass to the tilt function removed glass... found some random pine needles .. test close with glass off and shut fine installed glass back and same tilt sequence.. I will try this recalibration sequence... mine acted up after open on the highway 😂 operator error
My 2012 Camry sunroof will lift and lower with the control on the passenger side. The drivers side used to slide it back and forth and now don't do anything when I push the button.. frustrated! From your video it looks like its only 1 motor, so it has to be the switch maybe?!
There is just one motor with a screw system which moves the sunroof. The screw system runs inside a casing which looks like plastic and can break or wear out. On my sienna 2004 I had to push the forward or close button . Other than that it works similar except I had to just fully close and open using both buttons

@@javaidhussain6617 Ask someone to press the open/close button and just when the button is pressed, you should try moving the sun shade a little bit up or down with gentle force. If it is stuck, chances are it will get unstuck by doing this. Also try to lubricate all the hinges with some silicon lubricant like WD40.
Hi. I tried this several times however it is not working but rather , I’m getting grinding noises . I’m wondering if the belt is broken. It simply remains open in the tilt position . And yes , I had a new battery installed the previous day . I tried pressing the switch for at least 20 seconds. No luck. Any idea what is going on ?
@@akhaqan I agree. I think it is the belt. I brought it to someone today who said I can bring the car back Monday and he will be able to work on it to close the tilt for $80. To replace the belt, hundreds more...so I'm just going to have it closed. My car is a Toyota 2006 Avalon and I just hit 200,000 miles...love my car, but not worth spending the extra money. My toyota harrier sunroof had problem opening and closing. Sometimes the button worked ,sometimes it didn't. Then the guy took out the sunroof chip and it's working. But it doesn't go all the way back in 1 press. You have to keep holding the button while opening and closing. Recently what happened is that, while the car is locked and parked, the sunroof opens a bit by itself 😅 Now I'm worried either it is an electrical problem or it has something to do with the main TV Screen Panel.

Last night while at work I wanted to open the moon roof on My 06 Lexus is350, the switch is different, when I went to open it up it tilted instead of opening, so went to close it, it closed then reopened, I kept trying to close it, but it would repeat the close then tilt, I spent an hour in the night, using my flashlight thinking that maybe there was something blocking it and the safety was reopening the window, it was all clear. Finally, after using the switch several times, closed ( about an hour of mild panic because it was about to pour rain). When I open my door, it says moon roof is open. I am nervous about trying this I may wait for a few days when I have a day off, and it is sunny to try this I really hope that it works that you for the video :) it is kind of strange because the last time I used the moon roof it was acting strange, but it closed. I do things like open close windows and such if they havent been used in a while just so they dont get stuck because of nonusage

Grinding noises could mean broken belt. Look closely while operating it, maybe you can see the problem area.

Try to nudge it with a little force, sometimes that does it. Make sure you are applying very gentle force in the direction it has to go.
This worked for me. Whenever I held the close button, in closed and then tilts up. I recalibrate it and now it's back to normal.
