Happy Wednesday! Watching this vlog back it is a bit chaotic. But HAVE FAITH. It's going to take time but the ideas and plans we have for this home make me so excited. I know you're probably used to seeing people in giant houses but to us this house is magical. Christmas fun coming your way Sunday! Love you lots xxx
If you used your ikea family card then you are insured against damage when you put it together and they will replace the part you broke. I know this from bitter experience.
Agree with getting a wall of fitting storage! Get floor to ceiling so can have hanging space and shelves/drawers all in one and utilise the upwards space that is currently 'wasted'
If the bed fits, why don't you move it across the other wall, have the white drawers along the wall to the right (across the window), and add the wardrobe where the bed is now? Maybe that would give you some more space, since the big furniture would be behind the door.
Hi, just wondered if you could move your wardrobe rail slightly higher so that your dresses could clear the bottom? You might be able to alter the hanger hooks so that gives you a couple of extra cm? Good luck with your new home! Laura x
I've got tall IKEA pax and got the doors from elsewhere. They are amazing because you can change the insides whenever you need add drawers/rails etc to suit
I used hammond's in my last place which I thought was made to measure. Turns out they have a couple of sizes they use then just fill in the gap to the wall with a blank piece, that wastes a load of space. I was devastating as they cost a fortune. Later I had a carpenter come in for some cupboards downstairs and he said he would have been slightly cheaper to do what hammond's did in my bedroom but it would be totally bespoke. I would also try a carpenter rather than a hammond's or sharps type company now. Xx
Thank you for showing the realities of doing up your home. It makes us all feel normal when we are close to divorce as we build IKEA furniture or having a nervous breakdown over where the heck to put things. House is for sale, so this will be my reality soon so watching with interest!
Love how u keep it real, it does take time and money to get things how u want them. No point getting into debt to sort your house out, it’s good t show your kids u have to work hard and save for things that u want. Thanks for sharing Emma xx
Loving all the new house stuff and organising but I do think in Erin’s room change the draws and wardrobe round so wardrobe is at the end ... I also think when you do they carpet get the same throughout in carpeted areas x
Hi Emma, I saw on someone's UA-cam recently that apparently you can return Ikea wardrobes for up to a year after you have purchased them if you change your mind... hope that helps x
Built in wardrobes,.floor to ceiling with sliding doors, drawers inside/shelves double hanging for short and some single for long items and you could get them along the 2 walls. With a dressing table on the end before the door. We had a small firm near to us , but some joiners/carpenters can do the frame if you design it yourselves. You'll be amazed at how much storage they can give you.
Have you had any second thoughts about the move with the troubles that you’ve had fitting everything in? I think I would have cried!! You are a better woman than I!
Always fitted 🙌 they work magic and optimise all big and little spaces. T and C Bedrooms have done all our rooms/study and dressing room. Good look gorgeous. Xx
Just in case you don’t have furniture movers you can always put a bit of cardboard under heavy things and then then they slide along the carpet much easier! We’ve been moving everything around our new house so thought I’d pass that little hack along!
Your bedroom looks so much bigger without the boxes! Looks lovely! We are hoping to exchange soon 🤞🏻😖 so these videos are filling me with house moving positivity & inspo! X
After 5 years of living where we do my dad finally got us fitted wardrobes! I’ve had clothes on the floor and on a rail since we moved in. We used Sharps. They did mess my wardrobe up a bit but our house is old and a bit wonky. Both the wardrobe in my bedroom and my parents bedroom are rails and shelves only. I wanted drawers as well but dad said they where too expensive. I’ve got a 3 drawer chest of drawers that doubles as a bedside table which works fine x
The bedroom might not be perfect but I think it looks good and it's serviceable for now. I'm sure a wall of built ins would be a great space saver in the future!.
You could get a bracket to secure them and stack the white draws. It would leave you without a dressing table but it would mean that you get to keep the drawer space, depends what you need. I would get a carpenter to do a built in as that would most likely be cheaper and a better use of space. xx
I can honestly recommend IKEA pax wardrobes. I have white gloss four door double sliding wardrobes, then a triple wardrobe, with a mirror. They have hanging rails, drawers in them, rails for dresses and trousers, baskets, shelves. They are amazing. You can get them to come and fit them, and honestly they are cheaper than what you think. I then got a white gloss dressing table, with stool and two bedside tables and they are a perfect match. We had our daughters bedroom fitted by sharps before ours at a cost of £4,500, which are good quality, but my daughter now says she wished she had got IKEA pax ones.
I only paid around £250 for my PAX system and so good that you change the inside so easily and I’ve only had a cupboard added on top so it’s completely floor to ceiling.
Definitely get some carpenters in and see what they can do! Truly made to measure then and often cheaper than one of the companies that do them! Katie Ellison had a carpenter do their under stairs storage and it looks brilliant!
We've got the IKEA pax wardrobes for our kids rooms which are great until you try to move them. Had exactly the same and the front bit snapped off when we tried to move them. When we moved house we just left them in the old house and bought virtually the same again as it was overall easier than trying to move them as much as they needed to be. Your bedroom would have such fab storage if you had something specially built along that wall. Good idea to save up for what you want.
When you said you were moving that huge dresser around that sharp corner, I kept thinking "pivot" "PIVOT" "PIVOOOT!" and wondered if the disaster was you had to cut it in half to get it in Erin's room.... (see Ross Gellar, "Friends") It all looks comfortable and much more livable. Glad you are getting things settled . Every little bit counts. Blessings to you all.
morning Emma x . After switching my room around three times in two years i'm finally happy. Last year i bought the Elvarli system from ikea (is mostly open plan hanging with shelves and draws) . You can make a plan online and make a design for what you need , having no doors saved a load of space and great deep draws to put things away inc chunky jumpers . I love i can see my everyday clothes i wear and stops me overcrowding my wardrobe by keeping it tidy and minimal . Can't wait for your christmas videos xx
I think the wardrobe will be better where Ste has put it because if it goes towards the window where you would like it Brummy Mummy you will block some light, at least the draws being nearer the window that makes the room look lighter and brighter. Just a thought but the house it looking lovely. X
I would recommend using a local carpenter if you know one. Means you can design it yourself and usually comes out a lot cheaper then using a fitted wardrobe company ☺️
As someone who has upcycled a set of drawers, let me tell you, it’s a lot of work! I highly recommend getting an electric sander because you will have to sand the whole thing down at least once. I might just see about changing the drawer pulls first (which should be easy) and seeing if you like the finish better with different pulls.
We paid a local retired guy to fit two huge fitted wardrobes. Best thing I ever did. It cost £2200 fir the two, which was incredible considering Sharps gave me a quote of £14k for one. I love them. Our bedrooms look amazing.
Glad I’m not the only one moving in a house and coming to terms with the fact they’re not going to have everything perfect for Xmas. We left it way too late to order our sofas and we’re looking at end of Jan, I sold ours when we moved so we’re on camping chairs and bean bags at Xmas. You’re not the only one just trying to make it work. As long as we’re together and happy, who cares? 😀
If you were clever with some white MDF you could add a single length at the side of the ‘dressing table’ units so your legs and chair could actually go underneath x (done this in my daughters room for a narrow make shift desk) x
I recently used Star Plan in Wednesbury but they came out to me and measured up and made loads of amazing suggestions for my room that I’ve never even thought of! I ended up with fitted wardrobes, fitted drawers and some matching bedside tables - it was expensive but they will last me forever!
Thought you might consider emptying the top drawer were you have your makeshift vanity station. Then store your hair and makeup stuff there. It would feel more like a vanity with the drawer open while your sitting there getting ready.
Love this! I needed this motivation this morning, I’m doing a decluttering challenge throughout lockdown on my channel, today’s wardrobes, so perfect time to see this and I have zero motivation today 💤
I know you mentioned in previous videos about having shelving/storage made for downstairs could they not do some fitted wardrobes? It would definitely free up space. Plus if you get drawers fitted in too you could potentially sell the other drawers and have a proper dressing table. Me personally it would do my head in banging my knees while doing my makeup. Plus I need to be really close to mirror so I don’t poke my eye out 😂😂.
Definitely go for fitted wardrobes, I have two whole walls of wardrobes, with drawers fitted inside, floor to ceiling, so no dust on top of the wardrobe! Mine cost 6000 but worth every penny.
The PAX system is great in IKEA . We have had it in our room for 5 years and it's as good as new. It's great as you can just plan it all online and order it. Would definitely recommend!
We have 2 double and 1 single pax wardrobes in a line. Single is white door, then 2 mirror doors then 2 white doors, floor to almost ceiling and it works really well, you can do so much with them and you can plan them out too
Buying furniture always stresses me out for the reason of you don’t know until you use it if it’s going to do what you need it to. I was going to suggest having floor to ceiling wardrobes. I had them in my last house and you could hide so much in them. You do right to take your time doing things up take the pressure off. If you live with it for a bit you will know more what will work for you. Love your videos so relaxing to watch 🥰😊 xx
You’re going to have to be like me Emma. I have a capsule wardrobe now as I have very limited clothes space since moving in with my partner. It works xx
I would definitely recommend Pax from IKEA, but get their fitters "task rabbit" to come fit them (once that's allowed again). Basically like have fitted wardrobes with a much smaller price tag!
We have a chimney breast wall in our bedroom and the space was just awkward to work with. We got star plan to do ours. Not sure if they are still going but happy with them. More recently we got our daughter the pax system from ikea and really impressed for what we paid. We have high ceilings so we got the extra tall ones. My partner fitted them.
The room looks so much bigger and having your knick-knacks about makes it so homey. When you move it's like piecing a new puzzle together trying to fit your furniture in and if you can't have a row doing it, you're weird. Fact. Enjoy your room xx
Why don’t you put the two sets of white drawers on top of each other? Then you can get a small side table to put all your makeup bits on beside the wardrobe! Just an idea but I’m loving these house blogs 😁
My wardrobe does the exact same thing with the shelf! It’s creasing all my long trousers and maxi dresses! I’ve resorted to taking them out, putting them in a dress bag, and put them on the side of the wardrobe!
We had talk pax in our last house. Currently building shorter ones in our new house and covering in sheets of mdf and coving etc so they look built in for a 1/3 of the cost of a wardrobe company
When IKEA re opens, take it back. They are really good at refund when there is a fault. Then just don’t buy another same replacement and get different one xx
Best bit of this vlog is when you are processing where to put the drawers. "Oh yes. Oh no. But what if? Hmmm. Ah I've got it. No that wont work." You are so relatable it is amazing. Good luck for the rest of the organisation, hopefully in a few weeks you can broach the subject of swapping the wardrobe and drawers? 😛
We went for the IKEA pax system - so easy and if you get good fittings, it looks great! Well done, bedroom looks fab! And yes please to festive fun 🎉🎄❤️
I know what is like trying to make the most of what space you have....if only we all had houses like in the US with big closets. We have a wall full of sliding door wardrobes bought from B&Q ...they’re really good. You might find a local carpenter to fit them for you. Good luck with it all xx❤️
I won't lie. I kinda loved that this was a disaster. I moved house 2 years ago and the whole thing has been a disaster from start to finish. So, it was simply WONDERFUL, in a Schadenfreude sense (in the most loving way) to belly laugh at 7.30 am at how much of an absolute fail you had 🤣 IT'S NOT JUST ME!!! ❤❤❤ I too had a shitty ikea wardrobe. They are fab until you move them. I've moved mine around the room 4 times, its arse did not survive, I put it in a skip 😅 Saving for a BEAUTIFUL fitted wardrobe of dreams now, its definitely the way forward. From IKEA obviously. Nearly died when I looked at the famous wardrobe companies 🤢 Good luck for your future plans- I hope you have no more disasters, and if you do, I hope you share them xxxx
We got ours from star plan. Not built in so can move with us but floor to ceiling and across the entire wall so perfect fit ( 5 doors across) It cost us £1200 which wasn't bad for such s big quality wardrobe and a chest of drawers and two bedside tables. You can also create your own inside to what suits eg all rails or 3 reels and 2 drawers etc
I would return the wardrobe to Ikea, if you used your family card when paying you get 'ooops insurance' basically a guarantee of refund if anything goes wrong whilst moving and/or building your flat pack. Hx
Any chance you can move the rail up higher in the wardrobe so your dresses can hang smooth? We had fitted wardrobes when we moved in but I hated them so they came out! Discovered the fitters had chucked all the offcuts of wood and spare screws in the base! 🤦🏼♀️
Measure up your room and then look at the pax system creator thing on the IKEA website, put in your measurements and see what room you have to play with. There are people on UA-cam that then show you that you can block the top up so it looks fitted, you can get the tall version of pax and then design it how you like on the website with the extras etc and it creates you a shopping list. Then get a carpenter in to close it all in to look fitted and it will be soooo much cheaper than getting someone in to do the whole thing for you
Plus having pax will mean you can put drawers in the wardrobe meaning you probably won’t need all of the drawers you have and could fit in a dressing table for yourself again!
Is there no way you could squeeze Erin's desk in as a dressing table. Couldn't live without mine. Move the washing basket and slide the drawers up a bit
We found IKEA bedroom furniture great. I have a corner ‘ dressing table ‘ I can sit at, put my legs under & do make up etc & it fits great into the corner by my window.
We have curtains that end just below the window sill so it all fits in ok & good use of space & I got what I needed which was to be able sit properly & put my legs under the dressing table!! X
I love your's and Stephen's room now, wonky wardrobe and all! It looks great with the two sets of Malm and the bedside table from Erin's room. I've just done some renos this summer and had boxes of bathroom vanity tops, light fixtures and a dishwasher between my kitchen and living room plus had all the kitchen cupboards apart and scattered all over being painted. I felt so so zen when it was all tidied and done. I mean don't open any drawers or cabinets but it looks tidy and that does my brain well. PS - Max the Westie is sleeping on my bed while I watch Lucy the Westie sleep on your's. Ha!
Moving is so stressful! Sending y'all lots of love. I'm sure y'all have thought over every possible arrangement of furniture, but I want to mention something just in case (feel free to ignore me!). Could you stack the two white drawers on top of each other, or would that be ridiculous? Then you might have room for a dressing table?
Loved this video ❤️ we had the same trouble with an IKEA wardrobe in my sons room moved the wardrobe and the leg snapped off it is now in the same place prior to moving and the one side at the back is held up by a wooden box!! We all in this together 🤣
If you have room in the wardrobe for some more hangers put the bottom of your dress through and hang it up, or you could peg the bottom of the dress to the shoulders. Hope that makes sense.
Yr pine chest of draws put in garden & paint white they do white cans of spray in the pound shop seen people do it on Facebook it's look really good xxx
Hi Emma I recommend a company in birmingham called Hush that design and fit fitted wardrobes, they have done nearly all my bedroom in my house and where so great!
I've had sharps fit a bedroom in a previous house. It was stunning. No complaints. However in this house we've inherited an awful fitted bedroom, it's total crap and I feel like I'm in a bloody caravan. As we only want a bank of wardrobes I'm considering getting a joiner friend to fit the ikea system, Liza Prideaux video inspired me, check it out. I love the idea of it looking fully fitted. 👍
What about putting a couple of faux sheepskin rugs down in your bedroom to help hide the carpet.I got a nice one off Amazon really cheap! Also Wovenology do really nice baskets, they're not cheap but such amazing quality and handmade no two are the exact same Loved the vlog , thanks😍
So excited to see you video right in the morning, you’re so uplifting 😊 I’m in the same situation, we just moved month ago, the current IKEA wardrobe still okay, but we maybe going for a proper bespoke one (I’ll keep dreaming with my new wardrobe for few months haha). Stay well, lots of love ☺️ xx Mayara
Why don’t you take the bottom too draw out the the bottom bar so the chair can pushed under just a little idea,Have a look On your local Facebook groups for desk, hope your all well

If you used your ikea family card then you are insured against damage when you put it together and they will replace the part you broke. I know this from bitter experience.
@@kateshaw46 WE DIDN'T We will next time! x
For the love of god, please IKEA - have a sponsored collaboration with this lady and get her a PAX storage system! Xx
Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
Or she could just buy one.
I have the Pax system in my room and the spare. Built them all on my own. I love them!
Agree with getting a wall of fitting storage! Get floor to ceiling so can have hanging space and shelves/drawers all in one and utilise the upwards space that is currently 'wasted'

If your purchased your wardrobe with your Ikea family card, its covered for damages on the way home or during the assembly.

That’s the one! Charisma’s fun coming Sunday!
I know what is like trying to make the most of what space you have....if only we all had houses like in the US with big closets.
We have a wall full of sliding door wardrobes bought from B&Q ...they’re really good. You might find a local carpenter to fit them for you. Good luck with it all xx❤️
You making me laugh bout the wardrobe ha ha lol xxx
I won't lie. I kinda loved that this was a disaster. I moved house 2 years ago and the whole thing has been a disaster from start to finish. So, it was simply WONDERFUL, in a Schadenfreude sense (in the most loving way) to belly laugh at 7.30 am at how much of an absolute fail you had 🤣
IT'S NOT JUST ME!!! ❤❤❤
I too had a shitty ikea wardrobe. They are fab until you move them. I've moved mine around the room 4 times, its arse did not survive, I put it in a skip 😅 Saving for a BEAUTIFUL fitted wardrobe of dreams now, its definitely the way forward. From IKEA obviously. Nearly died when I looked at the famous wardrobe companies 🤢
Good luck for your future plans- I hope you have no more disasters, and if you do, I hope you share them xxxx
Ikea Pax would be great! The room looks lovely.. I love the curtains even tho they're not for that room! 😊 X
That’s it! PAX!!!
Is there no way you could squeeze Erin's desk in as a dressing table. Couldn't live without mine. Move the washing basket and slide the drawers up a bit
U should look at this gathered nest she has 9 kids i think and lives on a beautiful farm its stunning
We found IKEA bedroom furniture great. I have a corner ‘ dressing table ‘ I can sit at, put my legs under & do make up etc & it fits great into the corner by my window.
Oh that sounds a great idea!
Ha!
Cud u stack the 2 white units on top of each other? That would free up space for u xx
Now we did think about that! However I did worry they may fall on us ha ha!
@@brummymummyof2 oh lordy didnt even think of that 😂🤣😂🤣 xx
You could attach them to the wall so they dont? X
Emma, you make me laugh ! Know what you mean about moving the wardrobe ! (but its FINE ! Love your videos xx
Of upcycle drawer set BE FAB
Really enjoyed the vlog Emma ❤️
Hi we used a company called Fitrite for our bedroom furniture, found them very good . They came and planned and fitted well worth the money.x
Emma your room look nice and its was nice to see it mess not just by magic it all finish and my family love your family 🌈🌈
Ah thanks so much!
Queen Lucy on the bed 💖🐶.
Fitted wardrobes are the best they last for years and store loads of clothes and shoes, plenty of storage better than all that ikea crap lol
We've got an IKEA Pax that fills a whole wall and it's fab!
I have fitted wardrobes but it tough to design way that works for you, Amazon has some big nice wicker baskets on it
Definitely get built in wardrobes, I had a dressing table built in with our wardrobes x
What about putting a couple of faux sheepskin rugs down in your bedroom to help hide the carpet.I got a nice one off Amazon really cheap!
Also Wovenology do really nice baskets, they're not cheap but such amazing quality and handmade no two are the exact same
Loved the vlog , thanks😍
So excited to see you video right in the morning, you’re so uplifting 😊 I’m in the same situation, we just moved month ago, the current IKEA wardrobe still okay, but we maybe going for a proper bespoke one (I’ll keep dreaming with my new wardrobe for few months haha). Stay well, lots of love ☺️ xx Mayara
Lots of love to you too!
You've inspired me to sort out my messy bedroom..Ta!

Hi Emma what if you put the two white cubards on top of each other would that work?
