The 360/PS3 generation always feels like the last generation where developers, both big and small, took chances on some weird and unique game ideas. Whenever newer gen titles just don't appeal to me, I find myself heading back to this gen a lot. Great list! Really miss Xbox Live Arcade.
Am I alone in thinking that even though these games are from 2 console generations ago, many of them are still visually stunning? This was a great video, sir. Well done!
Visually sure but the 720p resolution doesn’t really hold up. However I got an mclassic and use it on my PS3 and the games look stunning for their age. It looks like a PS4 game (resolution wise) running on a PS3. Takes away all the jagged pixelated edges.
@@fredflintstone5356 Did you have problems hooking up PS3 to 4K qled? I still can’t hook up my PS3 with mclassic on my 4K Samsung 65. I get a black screen . I have 3 fat PS3 s all work on my little 1080 40 inch and 19 inch 1440 p monitors but all 3 black screen on 4K Samsung 65.

I would add the following titles that surprised me at how great they where: Bayonetta, Binary Domain, Vanquish, Lolipop Chainsaw, Wet, Saboteur, Viking, Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Shadows of the Damned, and Damnation.
As usual a glorious video. When you started out with Too Human I knew we were in for a ride. Me and a friend spent hours and hours on end getting the full 1000 Gamerscore in this and making insane builds!
I feel every time the talk is about hidden racers gems on 360 the default response is Split Second or Blur, but nobody mentions the awesome arcades sega releases in the system: Daytona USA, Outrun Online Arcade and Sega Rally Revo/Online Arcade
Infinite Undiscovery is one of my favourite games. I love the story and the combat, I still haven't finished it on the hardest difficulty but hopefully I can achieve that one day
It's good to see Shadow Complex getting some love. It's crazy that on this second golden age of Metroidvanias it's not better respected. The story of its development is also incredibly interesting - they literally DREW the whole map and then played the game with little paper models before making the actual game. It sounds crazy but it worked very well! Also - Ninja Blade would be a fantastic game if it wasn't for the quick time events. Dear lord they are oppressive - so so so many of them. I genuinely think about 40% of the game is quick time events haha
PS2-PS3/XBOX360 generation games have still way more depth and soul than latest gen games, developers had really cool and unique ideas, Games was actually finished and most of all that games had real cool entertainment elements. PS2,PS3 and XBOX360 are still my favourite consoles.
Xbox 360 is amazing system if one happens to be a shooter fan! Not only the Deathsmiles that was mentioned on the video, there's also absolute love letters to the genre, like Ketsui, both Mushihimesama games, Raiden Fighters Jet, Caladrius and many others :)
I have Infinite Undiscovery, but I never finished it. I got stuck at some cave area early in the game and never went back lol! I should give it another chance.
Maybe some of these games are underrated but I think "forgotten" is a better way to describe these games. The games listed such as Condemned Criminal Origins, Too Human or Blue Dragon were highly anticipated, hyped, highly praised or actually were very popular in their time, they were just forgotten after a few months or after 1 or 2 years. I read the gaming magazines (EGM, Gaminformer, Gamespot, etc) back in 2004 till around 2010. Anybody who did and looked at forums would agree.
Have you ever considered making a PC series? A lot of games from these consoles were also on PC and almost all the time they were better there, Split-Second runs at 30FPS on consoles and at 720p (probably) while you could go to town with the PC releases, not to mention the PC also has its own exclusives.
I've recently discovered this channel and I'm a big fan now. If I can make a suggestion: It would be useful to see on what other platforms the game is available , maybe in the upper right corner under the game's name.
I have played a lot of games on your list of Xbox 360 games, Splatter House, Shadow Complex, Split Second, Dante's Inferno, infinite undiscovery, all of them were a real joy to play on the Xbox 360, if you haven't tried any of these games I do recommend you try them you'll not be disappointed, thank you for making a real nostalgic list of games I played years ago and enjoyed TGVS, you did a amazing job buddy ✊
Damn fine list my friend. Blue Dragon was one I enjoyed much. Art style low key reminded me of Dragon Quest which is good because Dragon Quest is awesome 😎
Splatterhouse brings back some memories. My roommate in college picked it up from a Goodwill back in 2013 and we played the shit out of it 😆 that game was WILD
I think that's what I liked about the Xbox 360, a lot of games like these and while it is unfortunate I didn't know about any of these titles until the end of the life cycle, I'm glad I was able to go and pick up some of these titles. I managed to dig up Splatterhouse, Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant, Split/Second, The Club, just a lot of amazing games in that generation. Also if you guys are interested in Deathsmiles, it is now purchasable through every console platform and comes with both 1 and 2 for 39.99.
Solid list. Another positive aspect of the Splatterhouse reboot is that the original arcade game, along with the Genesis/ Mega Drive sequels, are contained on disc and are unlockable. A game o played on 360 that you might check out for a part 2 or 3 is Time Shift. On the shortwave, it's a basic FPS, but it has a time manipulation aspect that plays into some puzzle solving, and also helps mitigate some of the more difficult combat segments. A solid game.
Too Human (i have a disc press version) starts realy when you go for a second play trough when sections that where closed can be openend again. Still a fun game. Splatterhouse only flaw are the loading times. (also press edition in a carbon cascet with a shirt and some other stuff) Shadow Complex is incredible fun. Ninja Blase was so much fun and those big and discusting monsters where great. Split/Second is incredible good and still stunning to see (i do play it from time to time) Condemned 1&2 are good dark and extreme violent games. Blue Dragon is one of the first RPG's i played in my life, I own Dantes inferno but never got to play it, only played the demo and enjoyed that. Infinite Undiscovery is totaly unknow for me, thanks for pointing this one out, definitly on my radar now.
I miss games like FEAR and Condemned Criminal Origins today. AAA gaming has pretty much abandoned those style of FPS games. Even Monolith Productions no longer makes them now. I'd like to try Splatterhouse, but the resell market has driven the prices up way too high. Sucks that it hasn't been remastered or made available through backwards compatibility. Ninja Blade and Tenchu are both games I'd like to see new entries in. Although Tenchu Z Xbox 360 was just okay at best.
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 At no point does this comment give any implication that they were exclusives of any form, just that he misses that style; moron.
Watching some backlog videos... great job! I was a Nintendo guy up through 2010, so I didn't play XBox360... quality games here for sure. I think my favorite was the colorful shooter Deathsmiles. Splatterhouse, in my humble and quiet opinion, was way too gory, crude, and a slap in the face to the crowd that grew up on the original trilogy such as myself. I think if they switched the blood from human red to monster green, it may have been better recieved here in the States.
playing games like xcom and sleeping dogs along with fallout this was one of the best consoles going to have to give blue dragon a go not heard of it before now
Next time add: Marble Blast Ultra. Probably one of the best exclusives ever on the console. No physical release and removed from the marketplace. Also check out Naruto: Rise of a Ninja & Naruto: The Broken Bond (360 exclusive and its like Naruto meets Bully)
Interesting that there was no mention of the availability of Too Human. Silicon Knights tried to take Epic to court over something on the unreal engine. They lost & the game was actually taken off the market so you can only get physical copies now & they are pretty rare. The courts actually banned them from selling the game & ordered all existing copies to be destroyed so the only ones available are ones that were already sold to consumers. And given that the critical reception of the game was lukewarm at best, there aren't too many of them around. Otherwise, I can only imagine that putting this video together must have been very difficult as many PS360 games are not talked about simply because they were not very good. I remember ninja blade going very VERY heavy with QTEs everywhere and even when not, you never really felt like you were in full control of your character. And I hate Infinite Undiscovery with a passion that cannot be conveyed with mere words. The only thing I liked about it were the big scale battles which used all the members of your party split into groups & you can see each of them as their paths cross as you progress through the battle but that couldn't save the game from its awful characters & story which were so bad, they make me want to bash my head on the nearest hard surface. But if you want a really criminally underrated game on 360 (and PS3). check out Hard Corp Uprising. That contra-like game (it's meant to be tangentially related to Contra: hard Corps on the MegaDrive/Genesis) by ArcSystem Works is still a gem today.
@@fuzzylogic3017 if it is, it shouldn’t be. Silicon knights was ordered to destroy all copies & any code using unreal engine & Microsoft doesn’t own either the game or code. Since silicon knights is defunct, there’s nobody to actually publish it on any platform & the copyright is all over the shop
You are both right. The physical release was withdrawn but later on microsoft came out and gave the game away for free because that was okey as long as the game was not sold. Therefore it is available digitally
I’m 13 and i still use it today I think it’s still pretty good though my friends use newer consoles I don’t mind I still enjoy using this especially with my family.
I'm working my way through Blue Dragon right now; I like it(I think Toriyama did the enemy designs) but it suffers pretty badly from JRPG Slow Battle Syndrome. Every enemy animation seemingly pauses for a second or two before and after executing every move. It also doesn't help that a lot of the time enemies get to act first in the turn order, further slowing things down.
That game is on my list to play. I owned it since launch and played it for under an hour but couldn’t get into it. I want to try and get into it again. Does the story get better after a couple hours in?
@@thepld it will probably end up being one of those games I play when I retire 30 years from now and have all the time in the world lol. Or if there’s a long stretch where there isn’t any good games to play. I have an insane backlog right now.
Oh the irony in using Blur music during the Split Second segment but not mentioning it in the video, considering it's an underrated game that's arguably even better than Split Second.
Too human went through a long development cycle. It started as a PSone game with a different story than the final game . They rebuild the game for the GameCube before canceling this version to focus on MGS twin snakes . Then it ended up on the 360 .
I knew this list was going to be good as soon as it started with Too Human, which is actually a game I have and don't like mainly because the story doesn't appeal to me and the controls are weird, but I do know that general consensus is that it sucks, so hearing you praise it means you were going to have a genuine list rather than trying to mention what's popular but still somehow underrated.
I think the Overlord duology feels slightly overlooked, which is a shame as they're quite fun to play with the sequel really improving some of the minor flaws of the first. Regardless though, they're both worth playing imo.
For once I have every single game here (except Infinite Undiscovery) and I have to completely agree, especially "Ninja Blade", "Split/Second" and "Blue Dragon", those games are AMAZING!! But I would like to add one more jrpg, and it probably isn't underrated anymore I think, "Lost Odyssey", which I personally think is THE BEST game on the entire system!!! And a shout out to "Velvet Assassin" and "Singularity", yes I know it also came out on pc and ps3, but daaaaaaaamn that is the best blind buy ever for like 5 dollars!!
When Too Human first came to xbox backwards compatibility it was free. Playing it on the series X is a great experience. It's always on sale so pick it up at 2bucks
Too Human if an excellent game. Shame it got panned as a terrible game. Leading to the cancellation of the sequal. Only downside. The waves of enemies does get rather repetative. Shadow Complex is also a great underrated game and another of my favorites. Blue Dragon along with Lost Odyssey are two of the best JRPG exclusive games on the 360. Lost Odyssey is my all time favourite game ever and also has one of the best soundtracks i've ever heard in a game.
Not a fan of racing games but I love split second and burn out paradise . I rec split second to anyone who did play I got it as a free game and love it

360 is one of the few consoles that still hasn’t had its retro game prices explode. Take Splatterhouse, the PS3 version is more than twice the 360 version right now. Pick these up before the prices get unaffordable.
How is Shadow Complex underrated? Critically it received overall very good reviews/feedback by both critics and consumers, did very well commercially and was nominated for and won numerous game awards.
The 360/PS3 generation always feels like the last generation where developers, both big and small, took chances on some weird and unique game ideas. Whenever newer gen titles just don't appeal to me, I find myself heading back to this gen a lot. Great list! Really miss Xbox Live Arcade.

Ninja Blade is absolutely one of the games ever made
Name of music track in the beginning? 😊💪👍
Dante’s inferno was a damn good game 👍🏼
Another great list!!
&, yeah, you know what I'm going to say next, I own 90% of these! I must have an eclectic taste in video games lol =D
When Too Human first came to xbox backwards compatibility it was free.
Playing it on the series X is a great experience.
It's always on sale so pick it up at 2bucks
I heard of all the games on the list except the last one. Never played any of them except Shadow Complex.
I rec split second to anyone who did play I got it as a free game and love it
Such a great racing game!
@@thatvideogamesshow its when I got free 3 4 or 5 years ago I don't remember when I played to test it I always test the games I get free or cheap to see where I play and end up playing for about 45minutes am like Damn that's a good game
Actual so good I got a disc copy for my ps3 too
@@thatvideogamesshow I love Split Second. It will always be in my top 10. I can play that game for hours and hours and never get bored at it. Truly underrated.
You make me want to be a better gamer
Glad I picked up Deathsmiles on 360 when it was cheap. I think I only paid like $10 for it. Looks like it goes for around $80-$100 now.
Blue dragon is not hidden
Dante's inferno 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 i beat this🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
WOW, i love this 1st Hidden 360 game
Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death
Hydro Thunder Hurricaine is a great hidden gem that most people don't even know exists. Go check it out!
My favaourite is CCO. I will play them all soon
Worms forts: under siege should've been on the list
I smashed that like button the way you like it. But I have no comment to give you yet. Still watching the video.
No cap, I miss Xbox Live Arcade and Xbox Indies, so many fun and different gaming experiences that were on offer.👍🏿👍🏿
360 is one of the few consoles that still hasn’t had its retro game prices explode. Take Splatterhouse, the PS3 version is more than twice the 360 version right now. Pick these up before the prices get unaffordable.
Just cause 2
Vanquish
Ninja gaiden 2
Metal gear rising revengeance
Lost oddysey
Conan
Army of two
Dead rising
Test drive unlimited
"Bad games everyone knows" would be a better title for your video.
IF too human & path of exile, had a baby!? Omg
Wish ninja blade was backwards compatible with the Xbox series x soon
How is Shadow Complex underrated? Critically it received overall very good reviews/feedback by both critics and consumers, did very well commercially and was nominated for and won numerous game awards.
