    Best video yet featuring this bike. I currently ride a 2021 KTM 450 xcf and this bike is on my radar because of the KYB suspension and wide ratio gearbox.

      Thanks! I get it. I did a KYB spring conversion on my 350. Thought about another KTM but going 450. The KYBs and the rave reviews from the YZ450F swayed me to trying the Yamaha.

    Most useful, honest, real life demonstration of a new bike model I have ever seen on the UA-cams. I’m an old dude with a hooligan complex and this makes me fear owning one just as much as i want to get one to replace…a drz400S. lol. Subscribed. But I could tune a ‘vet’ map couldn’t I?

      I’ve got the 2023 we250f and the bike is Awsome i definitely recommend buying one Yamaha WRs are one of the most reliable bikes on the market today financing is cheap too 150. By weekly tops . I’m 48 years old and just getting back into riding hard induro exactly what this video is as long as you’ve got all your protection gear on it’s pretty safe . I’d say the 450 is a bit too big of an engine. The other day while riding I got tossed up out of a rut right into a tree and it hooked my right foot and twisted it backwards I was luck I had my boots on cause that would of broke my leg other wise. Yha these bikes are nimble and fast they love being in those upper rpm’s . Love it Brother I never stop riding bikes now that I’m back on one .

    I love the 450fx, almost bought one, went with the ktm 350 xc-f. just because it felt smaller and I wanted the 350. If Yamaha would make a 350, they would crush the sales of everyone. Yamaha has a great engine and their QC seems the best over all of the models, saying that, I do love the ktm, it is easy to ride. Reason I went the 350 route, I ride mainly tight single track and the 450 can be a bit hard to tame in that environment.

    • @JRideRR
      @JRideRR  Місяць тому +2

      Yeah, sounds like you made the right call. I wouldn't want to ride the 450 if I primarily rode real tight trails either. I have a video coming out tonight doing a lap battle between the 350 xc-f and the 450 fx. It was a GP style lap with a little bit of everything.

    16:15 - As a PNW transplant to FL, that instant torque off the bottom in the hard terrain map is the right answer for hard enduro settings, where you need to get the front wheel popped for getting up a log or rock, followed by the double blip to fly the front off the back. It's why the 300 is the weapon of choice in those settings. It seems like a misleading label for that map, though, as it's the last thing I'd want the bike doing in FL mud like we raced through at Indiantown this year.

    • @JRideRR
      @JRideRR  Місяць тому

      Yep...I'll take a 300 2T for the PNW! 🤣

      Hmm... What class? This answer depends on so many factors. Either would be an excellent choice. For your weight you may not have to touch the YZ suspension.

      @@jasonkellerman7534 Ask yourself how you like to ride. I'm going to assume you're getting the suspension done on either bike at 250lbs. XCF has an amazing, fun motor which seems to work almost everywhere. My only complaint was flameouts with that motor. Components are nicer on the KTM IMHO. The routine maintenance is easy. I'd say if you like a more rev happy playful bike pick the XCF. The YZ even detuned using the app does not get rid of the TQ. It makes it manageable to ride but if you twist that throttle too much with any map, you better hold on. It feels really nimble but at higher speeds it can feel a little twitchy stock. You also cannot get around that little thing called rotating mass. If you get on the gas too soon in a corner it will want to stand that bike up. Come into a corner with that motor wound up and you'll feel it. The YZ handles great. It gives me confidence in the corners. It's a riot to ride due to that tq and makes me giggle in my helmet. The maintenance is easy but that air filter placement is annoying. I lay my bike on its side for air filter changes so dirt doesn't fall into the intake. If you tend to ride low in the rpms I'd say YZ for the TQ. You can be a little more lazy on it. If I had to choose one... I'd pick the YZ350! For me I'd have to stick with racing the 350. Maybe I'll change my mind when I am fit enough to handle the 450 over a 2- hour race. I will be trying to race the 450 at one of my last 2 rounds. Stay tuned.

    Very good video on the FX I ordered a 24 WR450F that should in to the dealer sometime this month. I also ordered the competition ECU so I should have about the same power output as the FX I wanted a little softer suspension, the headlight and taillight, speedometer ,odometer and other things that the WR comes with. I am going to make it street legal so I can ride it from trail to trail.

    • @JRideRR
      @JRideRR  Місяць тому

      Thank you! Yeah, for trail riding that softer suspension will be a welcome change. The FX is definitely setup more for racing. The suspension is a little harsh out of the box for the slower stuff.

      @@JRideRR How do you like the custom map that you made up for the tighter woods riding? Have you tried the slider bar graph that Yamaha is suppose to have on the tuner now? Almost all of my riding will be on old logging roads and dual track trails, hope the WR works great for that kind of riding.

      @@billsharko3007 Pretty good so far. It feels like it's going to stall sometimes but never has. Definitely takes an edge off the throttle response. I like it better than the map I tried using the slider. I went all the way to smooth and TC on high. It made the bike too sluggish. I'll keep playing until I find a map I really like.

      @JRideRR  Місяць тому +1

      I was playing with some maps this weekend. The new slider feature works really well. For tighter riding I put the slider almost all the way to smooth and put traction on low. Worked better than the map I created. The video I'm posting comparing my KTM vs Yamaha has a picture of this map. Just pause that video. I'll let you know if I find or come up with a better one.

    • @JRideRR
      @JRideRR  2 місяці тому +1

      Not yet. Time will tell but that 350 displacement makes it such a great in between bike. I will say I needed to do quite a few mods to make the 350 the way I wanted it. KTM did move to a spring fork which was one of my biggest pain points. I also don't feel like I could race this bike for 2-hours quite yet. It can be a handful at times.

      It was top gear but I think the mapping I had in there caused the top end to fall on its face. It just didn’t want to pull anymore. I played with some other maps and have seen 67mph but still no limiter. I’ll load up an aggressive map soon and see what it will pull to.
