- I review a 6’6 Step Up Surfboard from Twig Surfboards. Owned by three time, Big Wave World Champ, Grant Twig Baker, Twig Surfboards specialize in big wave guns and step up models. I surfed the board over three sessions at Supertubes, Jbay and was very impressed with the performance.
The “PUERTO” is a direct result of good surfers demanding shortboard performance out of their StepUp when the waves are pumping and it’s designed for surfers who want to take their good wave surfing and barrel riding to the next level.
The brief for the surfboard was a winter performance model, with great paddle power, able to handle bigger waves and still perform at a high level.

Lekker first episode Kai. I'm interested to hear how it went off the bottom, off the top and the down the line speed. Did it handle well in the barrel. That last hack on your first wave was proper. Makes me want to go surf! Keen on the rest of the series my guy!
I still need to get some tube time, but felt really good down the line. Was way better on the rail than I expected.

Hey Kai..cool vid bru...lovin Grant's boards...you need to be a lot more aggressive on you bottom turn and compress to the top..you don't use your shoulders to drive and pivot enough through the top carve...but really liked your review...ive known Grant a long time and Baron from school days.. and have surfed Supers and St Francis a lot..keep the reviews coming...thanks Rob
