  • Russia's new SJ-100 jetliner boasts nearly all-Russian parts, dodging sanctions. This mostly homemade plane is in testing after a successful initial flight. The goal is to create a fully domestic passenger aircraft for Russia. Domestic PD-8 engine soon.

      Russia has a lot advantages in terms of metallurgy expertise, availability of metals like Titanium, Chromium, Nickel, Tungsten, Boron, etc. Ceramics? Most important is not let corporate greed compromise reliability and quality. Sadly that is what happened to Boeing. Passenger airplanes need to be 100% reliable and safe.

      LOL says whom that Russia has insufficient funds? Russia wasn't meant to be able to afford building Su-35S, Su-30SM, modernize MiG-31s, supply army with comprehensive kit, build new littoral warships, new submarines, upgrade heavy bombers, develop next-generation systems, put Su-57 in production, build brand-new T-90M tanks as well as modernize T-72Bs and T-80B/BVs at the same time and more. I won't even start on the fact that Russia has the most advanced nuclear energy reactors in the world.
      I really don't know if you are open-minded enough to realize by now that everything you think know about Russia is blatantly false. There IS money in Russian economy, banks CAN and WILL lend to airlines to replace their Boeings and Airbuses with these SSJ-NEW and MS-21-310s. Honestly, how many times does your nation needs to be proven wrong before you realize that someone somewhere is brainwashing you lot, and on a huge scale?

    The reality: All Russian civil aircraft (e.g. SJ 100, MC 21, TU-204 etc) have so far had significantly higher maintenance costs & downtimes than promised & than competitor aircraft. Therefore their world market share (outside Russia/Belarus/Cuba) is less than 0.1%.
    The situation with the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SJ 100): Only 1 was sold in the last 5 years, over 60 were ‘in stock’ in 2020 because returned or not accepted.

      Nope. Those are turbofans. It's just that the bypass air is mixed with combustion jet stream before leaving the engine. If you look at the PD-8s bigger brother PD-14, it's bypass air is not mixed with jet stream and looks like a traditional turbofan.

      SSJ-100 was indeed not all-Russian. SSJ-NEW, which is supposed to be all-Russian, first prototype, is flying on foreign engines but the rest of it is all-Russian. PD-8 engines are not far off. So, fingers crossed :D
      Russia has full access to EASA regulations, so nothing is stopping them from making it EASA-compliant before releasing it for export, which is what they'll likely do :)

    • @Ljet600
      @Ljet600 9 днів тому +2

      @@Max_Da_G Access to the EASA web is not linked to the EASA certification process. The problem for the Russians is that their aircraft (MS-21 or SSJ) aren't followed by EASA audit teams, no EASA tests and EASA approvals, no EASA certifications. Sure, they can build an aircraft to EASA standards, but the final product can't be accepted "just like that". The EASA certification process is a very complex procedure at every stage from initial engineering design approval to test flights. What the Russians are doing now has nothing to do with FAA or EASA. Maybe they can use this aircraft for internal use. Even Vietnam or the Philippines cannot operate this aircraft without international certification. I am not sure if anyone in Russia can understand this with our internal propaganda.
