Seniors are lucky in that the CRA cannot go after their OAS, GIS and CPP.
which is why these loans need to be paid back.. To protect those funds.
Who said they haven't tried?
WRONG they can.
They confiscate GST credit and carbon tax rebate.
Ah yea they can. It's called an external setoff.
Gets paid for the occasional gig, gets steady cheques on CERB. Fraud.
In his defence he applied and the system said he was eligible. That’s the systems fault.
No they explicitly said on the website to only take the money if you are eligible, they did not research your eligibility, that was your responsibility.
@@onemanturret1641the system basically approved everyone, it was HIS job to verify. That’s like saying oh the government didn’t stop me from putting 30k in my TFSA so it’s their fault i over contributed
When you asked to be approved for the payouts it gives you the guidelines and says you are confirming you meet all the requirements.
Well I will be taking CRA to federal court then. Cause I am not paying them a dime. It only costs $2 to file suit in federal court
CRA policy works on the premise the applicant is always in the wrong. Onus is the applicant to show error, not the CRA. It's a biased system.
🤦♂️ we made a mistake, so now were blaming everyone else

Take it from the tax returns or collect the amount monthly payments but don't charge interest so they can at least have enough time to pay of the loan.

And NDP,never vote for NDP
You really think cons will miraculously forgive the debt? 😂
Add NDP Jagmeet Singh as well
Just another liberal screw up😅😅😅😅😅😅
How is it a liberal screw up when Canadians are the ones committing fraud to obtain a benefit they weren't eligible for?
Lets not pretend they all arent screw ups .
The CRA can't got blood for a stone how are we supposed to pay with money we don't have
Can you say the same about a mortgage or loan from money mart? Debt is debt, dont take it if you cant pay it back

It shouldn't have phucking mattered what income you had in 2019, because everyone needed money in 2020, since the entire economy was shut down. The unemployment rate was 28%. The income qualifications were absurd. If you had money, you qualified for CERB. if you didn't have income you didn't qualify for CERB. It was ridiculous.
Wrong
@@Nothingcomestomind124 Lol....
CRA just lost in federal courts today
Worked gigs and did not report his income before the pandemic and now trying to prove he had income before the pandemic. Can't have it both ways. Stop scamming.
Why not go after all the businesses that qualified for CEBA loans but didn’t need them? Many took the loans just to keep the part of the loan forgiven as free money if the rest was repaid. All these news stories about CRA going after individuals but nobody talks about how much unnecessary money went into the hands of businesses that didn’t need the money but qualified and took it bc it was free money, they just saved/invested the portion that had to be repaid later. There’s also companies who received CEWS but were still profitable before the CEWS.
They told me too stay home because of the pandemic!!!! I run my own business and couldn't even get construction material to do jobs so I needed the BENEFIT'S to get by at hour of need!! It was a BENEFIT not a LOAN!!!! It will be hell or high water before I pay back this BENEFIT!!!!
Taxpayers are not a charity. Pay back what you owe.
you are sick ppl have paid lots of income tax period jobs disappeared ppl had families to feed
your not the only one who has paid taxes
It's nothing considering some places were dealing with historic floods and it was all spent on keeping the kids happy during the '3 week' break the curve of infections

I never use other peoples money. Credit score at 804.
I bet busines daddy spoon feeds you caviar for it too.... I don't think you spent decades capitulant to a system that has rewarded you with a number which only serves to make you work slightly less hard sometimes.
Problem is if you want to grow any business and even start most businesses you need a loan. Also pretty much everyone takes a loan to buy a house.
If you never borrow money then who cares what your credit rating is? Lowering your interest rate on borrowed money is the whole point of the credit rating.
clearly you do if you have a "score"
If you look diligently at those bills , they say bank of canada on them that money is not yours .
Wasn't one of the selling points that we ALL were eligible for Covid payments?
Nope. Not at all. It was very clearly explained at the time.
A lot of ppl werent eligible bc their employers kept them just below the min required working hours. So they ended up not qualifying while also making less
Only if you lost your job because the place you worked for closed due to COVID.
@@XetaXones what was the minimum?
@@Nothingcomestomind124 The eligibility requirements were absurd. If you had income above a certain amount in 2019, you were eligible. Below a certain amount, you weren't eligible. In other words, if you were poor and needed the money, you weren't eligible.
They need more money for Ukraine
Any money, this guy had been paid under the table for years to avoid taxes and, as a result, could not show the required minimum of $5k income for the previous year. If he's able to prove it, he'll face tax fraud, but without that evidence, it's CERB fraud. You have to pick your crimes - you don’t get to commit both.
So if he wasn't eligible, why did they gocd hin the money? Seems like a their problem sort of thing.
I had a number of friends who never worked and took the Cerb and they are mad they have to pay it back....I'm grateful for the Cerb it saved me....a friend took it and hadn't worked for over a decade and is mad she owes 30 grand...I'm like girl I told you.
If they weren't eligible why did the government give them the money ?
Because they wanted to get the money out fast to those who needed it; the honour system was the only way to do that. The trouble is, though, that they didn't make it clear what kind of documentation they would come asking for 3, 4, 5 years later.
CRA wont be letting you off even when you have a repayment schedule ... 6 months later they will toss it out and take 1/2 your pay
Defund and cancel CRA and let them try to go to,court 😊
"Soon you will own nothing and you will be happy"
The Canadian government deserves no money back on the loans on taxes on anything. We’re keeping our money.
Remember when they said “the CERB is tax free”?
So if this person was not eligible for CERB payments , then why did the CRA send him CERB payments ?
.
They were trying to get the money out as fast as possible.

Thanks JT for giving free money away and creating this inflation. Much harder to collect than to give. Voting conservative
Thank you CRA!
How about all of those international students who were able to get cerb?
I hope they went after their own employees that illegally collected it.
