Sit passenger with Tom as he reunites with David and reminisces over the stories of David's father and his significance to the southern racing scene.

Tom travels North America in his 1939 Ford Woodie Wagon, searching for forgotten classics in barns, backyards, dusty garages, and scrapyards and meeting the fascinating characters who open the barn doors for him and tell him their stories.

That end sequence......we need more stuff like that!!! I can't tell you how many times i've sat at diner tables with old timers telling incredible stories - and laughing the whole time. That's a snap shot of Americana right there!
You have to get to know the "Old Guys!" They know all the stories of what happened down the road 50-60 years ago. They were probably there when whatever happened.
If you get the time to sit down with them, they really appreciate someone who cares enough to talk with them and ask about what they remember. The stories can keep you laughing for hours. My dad just turned 95 years old a month or so ago and we sit out in the barn and talk about when we homesteaded in Alaska in 1949. I was about a year old when we started out there. Those stories never grow old... only we do! ;^)
I grew up around old guys. Best experience of my life wouldn’t change it for the world. They taught me a lot.
Go any place on earth and you'll find old men talking about "back in the day". Really.
One of your best episodes Tom. Love those old stories & the history. Love that 289 Ford.
This is my fav BarnFind episode. That ending was amazing and the way he talked about his dad at the end almost brought a tear to his eye.
I lost my dad last month and he was a huge classic car fan and that ending got to me. Thank you sir for sharing that story with us.
The history that Tom is able to capture in these episodes is amazing! Well done and keep these episodes coming!
Thank god they start that thing up every once in a while! Too many old rare cars like this are just left to sit and rot.
Love the stories! I bet you could sit and listen to his stories for weeks!
I could listen to him for hours!
I have a 65 Fairlane as well. Black with white interior. 2 door, hardtop, Sports Coupe, bucket seats, 4 speed with center console. Good to see a nice 65 pop up!
Thank you Tom. We are all truly blessed that you can pass these stories down. Without the effort that you make with these shows, it could all be lost. Thank you again.
I'm a really big fan of the series, have seen every single episode and now it's my time to do something useful.. so I've just signed for internship (im still in a college) in cars restoration workshop :)
Benas good on you, you’ll learn patience you didn’t know you had
You will enjoy restoring cars, i did a complete frame off restoration of my c2 Corvette >> don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back when you complete your first restoration, it's quite a accomplishment when you think about it . Good Luck .
Thank you for good words guys :) I will try my best there, i hope its going to be my full time job after college :)
Wow that's awesome, I hope to do the same someday, I'm currently a senior in HS
Glad to see you back here in Dawsonville, Ga where it all began, the moonshining, the racing, alot more stories around here than just Mr Sosbee's. Great vid!
I have heard there is gold in them thar hills.
Man, I absolutely love this series and the people they meet. Since im homebound dealing with leukemia, this series is one of a very few things to bring a smile to my face. Thank you for all that you do, it means the world to some of us.
S1apSh0es should do an interview with this friendly southern man about the historical proposed track. Would be for some interesting stories.
Back in the 60s, my dad used to take me with him to Lakewood fairgrounds speedway to watch the races. Good times. Thanks for triggering that great memory
i could sit and listen to his stories for days.....i loved it
Need to hear more of the story's they are so fascinating and funny almost as good as seeing the barn finds
This is awesome, I’ve got three 65 fairlane 500s sitting in my building, I’m using two for parts cars I was thrilled to see a car I’m working on on this show
Tom, I'm restoring a 66 4 door Fairlane special ordered with a 390-S-Code. I didn't know they even made a 4 speed 4 door. Tell Sosbee i will race him for pinks, NO circle tracks. LOL What an awesome car!
Makes me miss my old one. I drove a 65 Fairllane 289/C4 2 door in the last 90’s in high school
How wonderful to wake up to a New Episode of Barn Find Hunter~
I absolutely love this show, one of the most authentic, real people, real cars and real history channel on UA-cam right now. The only thing I don't like about this wonderful viewing experience is Shell, they are involved in the gas mining business here in Noord-Groningen (the Netherlands) and refuse to pay for the earthquake damage they have caused here.
this series makes my heart smile!
That was the best ending to any video ever - Thanks
One of your best! I could sit a that Bar all night listening to his stories. Awesome job!👊
I could listen to him tell stories for hours! Love it, and thanks for documenting & sharing!
Gotta love the good old days and the good old boys that lived it.
Mike
I am a true car guy. Matter of fact, anything with wheels I love. I am also a Ford guy. Love all makes and models but Ford has my heart. That Fairlane is the ultimate sleeper for back in 65'.
I could sit and listen to him all day. Thanks for that.
I love hearing all them old story's sounds like they had some great times
easily one of the best episodes... what an absolute treat to watch and listen to...
Thanks for including that lunch chat. Super fun to hear.
Hands down the greatest videos on UA-cam. Thanks, Tom.
I had one of these cars back in around 1976. It was a baby blue with white interior. 289 HiPo engine with an automatic. I want to say it was a 2 door. While in high school.
Bought it for $75 because the guy couldn't get it running. He had a single set of points in a dual point distributor. Factory headers, dual exhaust, 4 bbl, etc. We got it running, and eventually sold it back to the guy for $400. He eventually tried to wrap it around a light pole.
There's that beautiful wagon again!!! ❤️❤️
even tough I live in eastern Canada I can still relate to these stories and still watch nascar today what an awesome story I hope him and his brother get to rebuild their dads race car and show it off all over the USA
It’s so enlightenig and delightful all the way to the gem Ford Fairline 500....lovely and sweet classic, all respect and regards...👍🏻👍🏻
Just beautiful that car is, really just amazing piece of history
How many of you notice that window washer fluid "bag" right off? I remember them.
@@Houndini Yup. Mine was a replacement from the junk yard out of a 66 Ford Custom.
This is one of the best Barn Hunter episodes.
The finds... And the STORIES!! That's what makes this channel the best.. The stories.. Nothing dies when there are memories!!!
I'm in UK...always been US car fan never owned one... of all the cars this car(fairlane) has it all👍👍👍👍 simple.. understated... brilliant...
Great story this week! Definitely could listen to stories from David all day. I hope you guys go back when he gets that '34 out of the brush.
Wow!!! That Fairlane is an incredible car!!!
My landlord say that same thing to me all the time “I’d like to see that car outta here”
Tom, this is your best episode yet, this reminds me so much of dad /uncles telling stories and relations in Northern Ireland, which you know is mostly Blarney , my brother had a 67 Farlane ,with a 289 no where near as nice as this one, keep them coming , I will watch everyone 👍😎
This one was GREAT. Loved the story at the end. Thank you so much !!!
That dude at the end is a legend!
That HIPO Fairlane 4-door moonshine story makes that car so much more desirable!
Thanks for inserting a few of his stories at the end. I got a huge laugh out of them!
That was a great story and and a awesome Fairlane! Love them ol Southern boys!
Wonderful stuff. Mr. Sosbee should be interviewed on Dale Jr.'s Dirty Mo Media podcast so we
could hear more stories.
Thanks as always, Tom and Co.!
-Ed on the Ridge
Terrific story line, thanks, Frank
Had a 1966 Fairlane 500. Loved that car.
Love hearing your race history from the horses mouth( legends of the time). We had characters who honed there driving skills on gravel roads way down under here in NZ.
That Fairlane is literally the ultimate bootlegging car
If that car could talk just imagine the stories it could tell.
@@robgrant9583 maybe a real life Supernatural lol
225 hp model was a dog , moonshine weight hell no
@@katana258 but youre range is much better
I first encountered this car in 1967. The owner gave me a ride and I was totally impressed with this sleeper. Would have loved to have it even today.
.
That story at the end is pure gold.
What a great story ,it really deserves you going back & just sitting down talking over the history the family was involved in before it is lost forever.
PLEASE please please convince this man to record or video this history! The loss of this to the sport is just criminal...
Yet another great episode with another great character, keep it up!
My dad a 1965 Fairlane, 4dr sedan, but automatic with a 289 2 barrel carb. I took my driving test in it. It was a great car and fun to drive, no power steering!
As always Tom, great show. I wish as I’m sure so many followers that your shows were an hour long. Yours is the best.
That man is a national treasure...👍👍
I hope someone at hagerty reads this, thank you for this series, thank you for the incredible magazine, every time it comes I rush to read the jay leno and wayne carini sections. I spend the next 2 weeks reading the whole thing with my morning coffee
We're happy to deliver to car lovers such as yourself! It makes us real happy to see you enjoying our videos, articles and your coffee.
First car I ever owned, at 15 years old, and no license yet, was a 67' Ford Fairlane 500 with the 289. I did body work on it and chromed a bunch of parts on the engine. Sold it at a profit before I ever got to drive it. Wow, this brings back memories.
Great show!Remember,go to Jacks Creek Bridge and turn right in Stuart,Va. and there are 50 70-71 Torino's ,Harless and Tip Belcher home of Wood Bro's racing.
Tom this was excellent !!! I'd like to see a 2 hour video of David telling stories & just imagine (since it's Dawsonville) if you could Bill Elliott to join in, that would be EPIC. (For those who don't know, Bill Elliott will forever be the fastest man in Nascar because he set a top speed record @ Talladega @ over 230mph, pre restrictor plate days.)
This guy's accent makes this episode so much better man. What a cool dude

Me too, Tom. Me too. Love wagons.
Very rare car, far more rare to find it with 67k miles, original paint and fantastic shape. What a great find.
I like that some of his stories are forever saved on here..
Wow. Just thinking on way home 'I can't wait for another Barnfindhunter episode, I will just rewatch some old ones again' then here we are. New episode yeeha 😍😍. Love it
Simply awesome👍
Thanks Tom😎
Don't forget stock car great Bill Elliott is from Dawsonville, too.
By far the best program worldwide ....outstanding ...been watching since day one 👍👍👍👍
Great stuff, nothings beats the stories that need to live on
Interesting bit I learned about Tom in this vid... he likes to leave the windshield wipers switched on before killing the ignition. This would drive me crazy as a passenger :P
"WOW" that's all I can say. Thanks Tom. 👍
The power window in Tom's wagon is blazing fast!!
Brilliant. Love the Fairlane. Love that story at the end. You just don't hear stories like that anymore.
Get some hubcaps on your wagon please Tom ! It will look soooo much better. Love the Fairlane !
Geoffrey De (duh) what do hubcaps do about anything, totally useless that's why they fly off into the ditch where they belong
@@bradzimmerman3171 (duh) It makes the look of the car, just like nice wheels do. Hubcaps do not belong in the ditch but on the wheels.
Tom, love your personal slices of automobile history. A big surprise for me at 10:54 when I saw one of the sponsors of David's car was Gwinnett Erectors. I was a Ironworker and worked for them back in the day. Owned by Fred Nix and passed down to his son Darrell who was quite a car guy himself.
That race track designed into the hillside is just like the dream at Lime Rock, Conn. Also Just after WWII, pre SCCA. The main straight run off would have been part of the hillside road course. I believe the New England hurricane of 1955 ended that dream. Thanks Tom👍✌️☕🏆🏁
So cool. The story’s are just as great if not greater then the cars themselves. To have both is the best.
1965 ford fairlane 500 were the bomb in the mid 60s...especially with a BBF!
Yay! Tom's back for another great episode! 👍 Only wish we didn't have to wait so long (Tom said "every two weeks"? But takes much longer before up on YT?). I'm sure Tom wouldn't mind spending all his time driving around 24/7? 😂😂😂
Hey Tom, have you started thinking about starting another channel interviewing these old racing legands. Putting all these old stories down on film. I loved watching the first part but my favorite part was the ending.
Pure Awesomeness !!! Thank You Kindly.
I could listen to old race stories all day. So cool.
They've got good cheeseburgers at the Pool Hall, great show.
This Ep is just pure GOLD!
David seems really cool to take the time to tell his stories. That is History to me .
These stories this man has are priceless and need to be recorded 😍😍👍👍
50+ years ago when I was a kid I would always hang out with my dad and his brothers and cousins when we had a family reunion because of the stores like that I got to hear. The only problem was when they got to the real good parts I would get sent to bring back more "refreshments" but after they had a couple of beers the stories got a little less censored.
the same here . but i was able to fill in the blanks by the time i was 7 or
8 !!!!
love the Ford Wagon he is driving, and of course love the Fairlane!
A Hi-Performance Sport Sedan. Sleeper in Disguise. I’m loving this
THE most authentic episode ever!
We need a series of him telling stories!
“These were true happenings” should be the title of a book
I have a 1965 Fairlane I bought at 19. It's only been 5 since but it's been 5 years of fun experiences with that car!
Pure gold! Man your videos are the best! This Canadian loves the history lessons and stories that come along with the cars. I was a huge fan of stock car racing when I was younger. Bobby Allison was one of my heroes. Love this video! Thanks for preserving this man’s story.
Wow what a find precious precious memories and stories thank you so much for bringing them. Boy you sure can tell that Carolina twang, ya know it's as distinct as the Indian bloodlines
