Sonic 1 ending music: woo you did it congratulations!! Sonic 2 ending music: *it’s alright, kiddo. They can’t hurt you anymore. Now lets go get you some ice cream!*
These deconstructions take me back to the time I used to play the stage songs of my Street Fighter 2 cartridge along with some sound effects that "muted" some channels. I felt like a DJ remixing songs in a live concert.
I just like how the different channels all play their different melodies, and they all slowly come together to form a complete song. Anyone else feel this way?
Do you remember the first tie you saw that ending? I do, It was Boxing Day night 1992 I got Sonic 2 for Christmas and I played pretty much all day both days. When I finally saw the ending I was shaking, I was only a kid and it was one of the first games I ever finished at that point. I remember feeling so sorry for Tails - and then when he flew up and caught Sonic I almost cheered. SO GOOD. Games were much simpler then.
No channel sounds great on their own, it sounds great when it's all combined (exception is when the PSG's are combined, sounds great without the other channels)
@@mfhs2775 he's saying that in 1992, Masa Nakamura left because felt he should get paid more because of the success of Sonic the hedgehog which brings us Sonic 3's music composer in 1993, Michael Jackson. (I think development of it started in 1993 but I'm not sure)
@@Kani_7798 1993 is correct, MJ worked on some tracks alongside Brad Buxer Scirocco and others from his team. Sega in house composers worked on a few like Angel Island and Hydrocity. MJ definitely launch base and if you dont know the song hard times by the jetzons then you are in for a treat!
I freaking love this ending theme & its vocal covers. This song & its covers are beautiful & honestly it has and still does make me get a bit emotional when I listen to it. Thanks for this, have a good Thanksgiving or whatever you like to do late in November. This is a copy-&-paste from a part of another comment: I hope that you could look into doing these types of videos for the handheld Sonic games after Sonic Adventure like the GBA & DS games or maybe some other series like Donkey Kong Country, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, and so on. This would of course be after you finish up making videos for Sonic CD (JP/EU and/or US OSTs), Knuckle's Chaotix, and 3D Blast (Genesis and/or Saturn OSTs), that is if you want to continue doing these types of videos for those games. Thanks for reading my long comment, have a good day. Edit: I've come to a realization that you kind of are already doing a bit of what I was asking about but it's still a relevant comment):
Masa composed the music, recorded a version on tape and a Sega employee coded the tunes into the game, cant remember his name, but it's the same guy who did Moonwalker on the Mega Drive
Unfortunately, Sonic Mania isn't possible to deconstruct, as it doesn't use the kind of files that the Genesis, NES, and SNES use, in which Carpathia is able to deconstruct.
This style of deconstruction is only possible for music composed of multiple FM/PSG channels. Literally, for Sonic 2 if my seven year old me heard that, he'd probably say, "I waited my whole life to hear those words!"
Sonic CD: Congrats! Now let’s watch Little Planet rise again!
😊😊😊😊 Sooooooo ooooo nice

this is such a beautiful comment omg

The PSG channels make it feel like its part of an 8 bit dream sequence
This song could make someone cry tears of joy under the right circumstances
that’ll be me when I get all the emeralds and finish the game
I will cry
Amazing how the square tones just bring everything together to support the entire melody, the song really does not sound whole without them.
Is nobody gonna talk about how 3:43 sounds like an 8-bit remix? No, just me? OK then.
I figured out that.
Some PSG's do this to add more to the main melody to flesh it out. Really brilliant honestly

Gotta love the PSG channels again, developers managed to make it sound so good!
This song holds so much memories for me when I used to play the game with my father. Thanks for uploading.
Lost my dad this year and we got to play this one last time before he couldn't anymore. Won't forget that

That is false. They all sound wonderful individually.
@@MoD1982 I skipped through some of it, the PSG's sound amazing (with all of them playing) on their own
@@ChristerMr6414 it's just my opinion
Usually its the baseline and DAC that steal the show but this time the PSG tracks came together and won everyone over.
The PSGs have once again reduced me to tears....
This is song almost makes me cry which is saying a lot

Thanks for posting this, I had a tough day at work and hearing this masterpiece deconstructed restores good energy within my head
I could fall asleep listening to PSG!

What a fantastic track. For some reason I always wanted to hear it fully remade with instruments from Ristar. 😊
Ah my favorite ending
5:00 Hold up, Channel 2 is on Bass? That doesn't happen much in Sonic 2. Wonder why Masato Nakamura put it there instead of on Channel 0 or 1.
Masa composed the music, recorded a version on tape and a Sega employee coded the tunes into the game, cant remember his name, but it's the same guy who did Moonwalker on the Mega Drive
There is a song in Sonic 3 that had that same thing.
Act Clear, Sonic 3 Title theme
No one can tell how beautiful this is Even without the PSG's it's still beautiful 8:39
Those psgs sound like a 8 bit version of the ending theme
SLAPS HARD at 0.8x speed 6:11 onward. The build up.

I used to go to the option menu to listen to the BGM. This one took a lot of listening time

Ye I kinda hear it lol
Happy 29th birthday to this game!
I would love to know how you do these videos with the music broken down. I would love to break down Happy Wars Happy Dungeons music.
POR FIN NNNNNNN
Please make a deconstruction of Options music from Sonic 2.
Is dac just channel 5 of the yamaha chip? Could any channel serve as the dac or did they just choose 5?
I'm not sure, but I think that channel is only channel that supports PCM (only 1 PCM channel is supported).
Please deconstruct the decap attack game.
The PSGs alone sounds like a sms version lol

Can you do the menu theme?
