Carissa, Iwan, Frankie & Albi
Our Story:
We are Carissa, Iwan & Frankie the sausage dog, and in 2020 decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month we were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call home. We picked up Albi, Joao and Simao the cats along the way, as well as Diogo the podengo and a flock of chickens.
Subscribe to follow our project as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

It is alway great to see a couple working together toward their dreams.
You certainly deserve some comfort after 4 years!
Hope it turns out perfectly.
Well done so far.
I love the early mornings too, Carissa. The world smells fresh and clean, and the breeze is still cool on your face. You can hear the birds singing before the noise and heat of the day drown them out. Watching your beautiful videos brings me that same sense of peace. Thank you for bringing us all into your world each week. ❤️🇨🇦
Thank you …so so nice to watch the animals early morning …warms the heart to see Joau and Albi playing 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
One of the best videos. You are a great couple, working well together and have created a paradise, even though it is too hot. The chickens cats and dogs are a delight.
Thank you!!
You are making great progress! I like when you captured the image of Diogo resting his head on Frankie. Stay cool, kids!
You two work so well together, with very few raised voices just pleasant working and progressing so well together it is a breath of fresh air to watch.
Thank you for another lovely and calming episode on this Saturday afternoon!❤❤❤❤❤
It is always lovely to watch you work together. The shots of your fur babies are always charming!😊
May God bless you, two, and the life you are building in your off grid home.
Lovely music!! ❤
Well done on finishing the main OSB on the walls, especially in that heat. Frankie was so funny the way she lifted your arm to have more stroking lol x
Such a lovely video, you have worked so hard in extreme heat. Lovely seeing all the pets including the chickens who are looking so much better xxxx ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good work guy's please remember to keep yourselves hydrated x

I’m really happy for you that your little cabin will be more comfortable. ❤
Great, nice job👍👍👍👍
You two are a spectacularly good team. I really love watching you working together as equals. ❤
Love listening to your music. Portugal’s natural light is so grand and especially on your farm. I imagine artist who love the light find this to be true. See you soon.❤
That went together well. You must have been patient to wait out the heat. Thanks for the lovely, calming video.
Thanks for watching! ☺️
Omg pausing at 15:31, I cannot believe it is 50.9c degrees! That is insanely hot! I have never seen that anywhere before! Be safe! Hydrate well! You both and the dogs/cats/chickens!
Kudos for working in the heat & achieving so much. Really relaxing watching you work, supervised as always by Diogo. ❤
Good morning, Carissa and Iwan. I love your music choices! The new building is looking good. You work so well together… great team. See you next week❤️❤️
Your bedroom is coming along beautifully.
Thank you! It’s getting there!
You two give a whole new meaning to the word graft! I don’t know how you keep going in that heat. I guess that’s why I’m in Canada and not Portugal. I echo what others have said, you two deserve new digs and a proper lou.
Thank you for another beautiful video …..wonderful to see the three happy lovely cats playing at the end of the video ….thank you for including your wonderful happy animals in your videos ….your channel is very calming 🌻🌻🌻

Great progress. Had to laugh at the chickens, all gathered at the fence watching you!
Great progress this week, it's lovely to see your cabin slowly coming to life. Very wise to be inside in the air con comfort when the temp hits 40C, I must admit anything over 30C has me done totally. Looking forward to seeing the floor go into your cabin xxx
Bom Dia team. Thanks for another lovely relaxing video.
So adorable, the way Frankie looks at you during the sponsor item. 😇
Great job people. I keep thinking abt your proximity to the chicken run, and the joys of early morning rooster serenades…

It’s coming along nicely. Looking good 👍
Cracking work guys! Great to have new space, hopefully you’ll be in before it gets cold! Loving your progress, really inspiring 😊
Boy, your building skills have come a long way!👍 I’ve added your area to my weather app. Still looks pretty warm for the next week, but I guess mid 30s is better than 40+.. 🥵
Great progress.
I love watching your happy animals.
Stay cool! Great progress, thanks for sharing 😊
Lovely to see the team work. Well done guys. xx
Thanks so much!
You and your beautiful family are always my happy Saturday morning treat. I have a questions, are you patching over your screws and joints to make it water tight? Will you be putting on a shingles/siding rendering to protect the wood to protect it from elements? God's peace and blessings🎉
Saturday is when I look forward to sit down and relax with you, in your beautiful garden. Thank you!💕🌼
Beautiful Video, Calming and Relaxing, as always. ❤ xx
Thank you! 😊
Great prgress in that awful heat. I look forward to seeing the finished house😊
You guys are doing a great job on the cabin ….. it just goes to show how we could be building more little spaces out of a recycled product like pallets … well done 👍

I look forward to Saturdays and your videos because they are so calm and peaceful. Carissa, you might like to read Landscape magazine which has a good mix of articles including cookery and crafts.
I hope you both have a great week - stay cool.
Well done 👏 50+°c that's MENTAL. ❤🎉 hope it cools down a bit now for you.. ❤
Hi Guys, great progress under difficult conditions. So glad to see you have the polystyrene covered quickly. Not knowing what further layers you have planned for the walls can I offer the following tip! The OSB needs waterproofing and sealing to stop warping and protect it from damp/rain. I know you are not in the wettest country but it will still need to be done. Looking at the bottom of the walls you definitely need to get the bottom edges well treated no matter what to protect fro rising moisture and splashback rain. Personally I would use a epoxy resin coating or at a minimum silicon wash. regardless as to whether you plan to wrap in a membrane and clad. Dare I suggest that particular task is more important than the floor. The floor area is effectively covered from the weather and is a job you could do on wet days. Great videos as always.
Great advice! Thank you! Do you think a polymer paint would do the job?
It indeed is very important to protect the OSB boards from any moisture! I found OSB boards harder to paint then normal wood, it seems to absorb a lot of paint. Is cladding the OSB not an option for you? You could always ask "uncle Nick" some advise? Keep up the good work, enjoying every single one of your videos!
Best part of my Sunday morning,
Looking great!
Wow, the project is coming along great 👍🏻 thanks for explaining about the windows 😅I was wondering about that too 🤣the footage of the butterfly on the marigolds was exquisite, and cats at the end… so funny! Who’s da boss there!!🤣🤣hope it’s cooling down there. It is the first day of Spring here in Aotearoa New Zealand 🌷🌅
Well done. Stay cool.
Good Morning friends, this made my saturday morning coffeetime so much more enjoyable. I definately reccommend a SelfPropelled mower. I have had many on large pieces of property, i finally have a riding mower. But if the mower is in your budget at a point, set it up Full High. That works best on tall grass. Schedule the days so you are consistent during the Spring and summer till it dries & dies out. Then maintain as needed. My current land i have on a 2-3 day mow. Or else it gets to laborsome on the mower. Its not so bad, easier on your back too. Be blessed 🙏🙏🙏, good to see the insulation covered. If you plan on using the OSB as a Final cover, keep it well off the ground, moisture will crumble the lower edges. Its usually used underneath Roofing or Steel Siding. only 74F in Idaho today, little cooling trend. ❄️❄️🥶😁😁
Man!!!!!! I love you two working together. I can literally watch your videos over and over.....which I sometimes do😅 love from South Africa
Everything about this vlog was perfection. ❤️🥂

Filming the moon. Wowww. Guys, you’re both very special at this vlogging malarkey ❤️
Adoro quando voces falam portugues, voces estao indo muito bem!I love your farm !❤️🇺🇸
You might want spray foam where the walls meet the floor to seal it otherwise you might get critters living in your walls ❤️🇨🇦
Fab progress ❤❤❤
Brilliant video as usual, watching while eating breakfast of yoghurt and figs from my trees 😂 too.
Thank you! Yes at least the figs are good this year! Hope you guys are well!?
Your new sofa looks nice. Happy to see you newest build going well. Was Frankie eating a olive? Your peaceful music is so enjoyable.
Pretty cats ❤!
Its looking amazing. Thank you for sharing. Ate a próxima semana. Tchau❤❤
Good progress again this week. Love seeing all your animals, they all seem very laidback. ❤️
Thank you for a lovely episode. I love to follow you❤
It's coming along nicely, well done in this heat. I may need to do something similar next summer at our place, so following all your choices and lessons learned very closely. Take care and all the best, Jane and Phil over in VNdP.
Just love your logo!
Great progress on the cabin! Hope you are in cooler weather now. Your animals are a delight! such personality!!💚
Chickens love all the activities and that your house is closer to them.
How are the mites malady now?
Did I understand you're turning the other sleep dwelling into a bathhouse?
Where will dogs, cats sleep when you move into new dwelling?
So exciting. Can't wait to see it finished
You do need windows around the home for cross ventilation.
You both are doing a fantastic job with the cabin build and life will be more comfortable for you both once it is completed and living in it .
I bet you are looking foward to some cooler weather as your summer there gets to hot .
Looking forward to seeing the next video.
Your building is looking good. Here in Central Australia when our summer temps are late thirties and into the forties for weeks on end and then the temp drops to 35/36c and we think it’s a cool change-lol.
I like your cabine without window's
Great video.
Hi guys, Kevin from Herefordshire here , I’ve just got to the video where you guys are changing the well pump , and had an issue with the new black hose curling up , so not sure if anyone has mentioned this as I haven’t seen right up to date, or read the other comments, but have you considered tying a short length of rope around the pipe and attaching a rock or something similar to it.. my guess is that it would sink to the bottom, allowing enough slack for the pipe not to go all the way down to the bottom, but say 6 inches above the well bottom 🤔🧐🤷♂️I apologise if it’s old news , but I couldn’t help myself 🤷♂️😬👍
Lovely to see your progress guys, nice video
Watching video in one of my new t’shirts.
Ahh brilliant!
Hey you 2, just saw a video on YT entitled "If You Paint Chicken Wire Black..." and thought it might of interest to you. Happy days to you! :)
Yes, thank you
I'm just starting today's video and had a thought. When you post the time, it would be interesting to also know the temp, and to have the increase noted throughout the day. OOPS! One second later, you do exactly that!!!!
Ewan ever the gentleman, holding the #StepLadder for the missus... #PricelessTeamWork!!!
I love the cabin. It’s coming on amazing. I genuinely can’t wait to see it all finished. I’m like a kid waiting on Xmas day coming 😂
As someone who used to distribute these boards a few years ago, I’d strongly recommend using either plank of wood, a fence board or even just a pallet board to cover where the joints are & run some exterior sealant around the edge. These joints between the boards are where water gets into the boards & then they start to swell & decompress the flakes that make up the board. Also, an annual coat of exterior gloss will help it last a lot longer too. Even more so if it’s an oil based paint.
Keep up the great work guys. Take care
Great advice! Thank you! 🙏
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, good work 👍😁 what are you going to use for fire protection for the cabin from ground fire or mimosa forest and is the isolation fire proof? I just hope you guys stay safe 💞🙏
I love seeing all of the animals havngng around. How are the chickens, by the way?
I really love watching you guys and the progress you're making. I adore your furry friends 🧡 how's the chickens doing? It's been really hit here to In Norfolk. It's not as hot as you guys are experiencing thow. Thanks for the channel. I love it 😊
