Great video!! Love the high-pitch whining/whistling sounds as the train arrives and leaves/picks up speed going down the tunnel, and the horn sounds. Also love how at 2:29 the North Hollywood bound train (Breda A650 with 6 cars) slowly creeps to a stop at the station
The horn is an historical recreation of the Pacific Electric Railway that served LA for decades. It represents the county's rail link to its past. All trains must sound the horn upon arriving and departing.
Wilshire/Vermont for LA’s Metro Subway Reminds me of 12th & 19th St Oakland BART Stations except there’s no other platform on the upper deck, only one platform
Very cool vid, I too am a train enthusiast. I am building the Union Station in a game, but I am having trouble finding walkthroughs of the entrances to the subway, could you make that? It would really help out
Desmos - Trains & More more trains for the purple line extension to Beverly hills. This will also mean mean that the older Breda A650s will be retired, unfortunately.
Some Train Enthusiast thanks for the reply. What’s confusing is “Wilshire/Vermont” in your title. Theres nothing that tells us you’re showing all stations on the Red and Purple lines. So it would be informative if each station was titled as they come up on your video rather than relying on a quick pan of station signs which by the way didn’t happen at every station. Not being critical. Just wanted to understand what was in your video. Now that I’m aware of what it was you were presenting I thought of how it could be improved. BTW I do enjoy your videos. Thanks for your work.
The hyphen "-" was meant to convey "through," so "Union Station - Wilshire/Vermont" means "Union Station through Wilshire/Vermont. Also I did put station titles in the video, so I'm not sure what you're taking about there?
1) Union Station is the terminus. 2) People transfer to/ from Metro Link and Amtrak 3) It's the only link with the Gold Line and the rest of the system.
Uwe Z I agree. I always see workers there trying their best to clean it but it’s really hard when 60% of people who ride it think the train is their garbage can.

Sounds like the “THX sound effect” when it departs 😁

15:57 RIP P865's.
The A650 trains are based off the Budd Universal Transit Vehicles that are used in Baltimore and Miami...
Yo is it just me or does the horn sound like the train is blowing its nose when it comes out of the tunnel
To me it sounds more like when you blow through a tube or into a bottle at 90 degrees
There may be another HRT line in a decade or 2, Sepulveda Line.

Adobe Premiere to edit and Adobe Media Encoder to render.
When will the metro buy new train's?
The process has already started. The first new cars will be delivered in 2020.

lightningblites: They don’t retire til 2021
Are they going to retire all of them or just the older ones?
Metro announced the new bus rapid transit is expected to commence on 2028.

I Like Your Train Videos!
omg one of my biggest pet peeves is when people stand on the left side of an escalator
The sound when it Arrive and leave is 🎉 Op
Is that a spark at 1:04
That's normal, nothing to worry about.
Same sound as WMATA 1000 Series Rohr
I can’t tell what station you’re at.
This video includes every station that both the red and purple lines serve. Hence the title Union Station - Wilshire/Vermont

Looks good, but the Union Station is a waste. No reason to stop
there.

Et Q Union station is for transfers, so it’s not a waste. But you’re right, it’s nobody’s final destination.
Metro sucks at keeping their trains clean and most of their trains have the scene messy almost like someone took it off

Look at some of the pigs that ride it. Keeping those trains clean is a never ending battle.
