I love DOTNW, it was my first tales game. I do however feel that there was wasted potential in the story: they could have explored Ratatosk"s character and motivations more as they directly link to the antagonist of the first game and the events of this game. He watched as the people of the ancient times destroy the world with their war, was moved by the words of Mithos and his companions only to be betrayed by them, wakes up thousands of years later to hear Aster and Richter give him a speech similar to what Mithos gave him, and saw through the eyes of Emil that the events of his time were being repeated. They could have worked with that to give the story and Ratatosk more depth.
From the game's development, it's easy to see a pattern you often find in anime too. They get a capable guy then tell him to direct three games to cut down costs. Be it the anime or the gaming industry, everyone is getting overworked. It's truly sad. And you can see when studios who overwork their staff less reap good benefits - Kyoto Animation has one of the best creations to date, in part thanks to their staff having time to rest.
I always found it bizarre compared to other direct sequels to JRPGs that reused assets and were made in the same engine how cheap Dawn of the New World feels.
Eh, for all its flaws I still found it a better follow up to Symphonia then Final Fantasy 13 2 was to 13, I guess those two seemed like they had so much in common with the monster party members and well, having the female leads both voiced by the same voice actor lol.
This game is really nice about mechanics. About fabule is nothing special. About monster very complicated system but when u undastand it give more fun. I bit this game many time and now i have 35000 grades and 99% monsters
2:20 - That’s not the right Takumi Miyajima. The one who wrote Tales of Symphonia (and later on the Abyss, the Rays and Scarlet Nexus) is female.

@@xenosanctum2531 That's a picture of Yuji Naka (Sonic programmer) for some reason.
@@jackayers4955thats true! Don't know why they got the wrong picture. I meant, decided to not actually do research

it's not even the same engine either so it makes this even more odd.

Don't care, I love this game and the dynamic of bullied wimp to overpowered beastmaster is like nothing else in gaming imo
edit with all due respect
