Actually the first time Rauru was mentioned was in Zelda 2, it was the name of a village. Also the missing divine beasts isn't a speculation. Purah mentions specifically that the guardians and divine beasts were deconstructed. While the shrines and towers simply sank into the ground having no further use.
As far as I know, I looked it up, and the literal, official reason is that the old tech simply, vanished, after the calamity was sealed away, and that the people of Hyrule were so traumatized at that point by how often strange things happened that basically no one cared at that point. I cannot find anywhere were Purah mentions that the guardians and divine beasts where deconstructed, and I don't see this anywhere in the game, but I'm just going to go with the idea that they all basically did to themselves what the antient arrows do the enemies
Yona’s character bio states she is from another domain. It’s reasonable to assume that she periodically visits Hyrule from where ever she is from and that her marriage to Sidon is sort of a Nintendo-ified Political marriage to join the domains. Most likely she was just tending to her own Kingdom during Breath of the Wild and her existence wasn’t relevant to the plot so Sidon had no reason to mention her. The line about “hearing Link’s name since she first arrived” could be interpreted as “Everytime I’ve visited since the first time I was here people mention Link” rather than “I’ve been here the whole time”
The OoT Rauru cutscene just made me realize we haven’t been to the Temple of Light in TotK although we’ve seen all the other sages’ temples. Could very well be DLC, as well as Kass. There could still be Zonai as Ganondorf says something along the lines of they “no longer grace this world” which doesn’t mean extinction; they could just be far away or in space (far fetched but we already got low-gravity stuff in this game.)
These debates will go on, and I don’t think Nintendo cares much about the timeline stuff. But can we all agree that Rauru was an ineffective leader who made mistake after mistake? That his arrogance and aloofness cost him everything and brought misery in his people? He also does an awful lot of NOT talking when he meets you on the Great Sky Island. I can’t think of any in-universe reason why he doesn’t give more exposition at the beginning. He’s a clown.
Mineru turned into spirit form and entered the Purah Pad to assist Li k in the future, that's what the little green flame was she was talking to before she gave the pad to the construct
My take is the Zonai are a mostly nomadic tribe. Alien space travel of course. They happened upon the Hylians sometime after Skyward Sword to help create Hyrule. Their existence was buried to try and prevent Ganon’s true vessel being released. The influence of Demises hatred still reaches out to the one male Gerudo. Explaining how there are more Ganons while the Demon King is stuck underground.
@@michaeltovah4 and the fact the imprisoning war takes place in the downfall timeline. I believe it's since ganon was sealed they had to rebuild hyrule and explains Sonia and rauru meeting. Basically a new hyrule from ocarina of time.
@@jinx1987 that’s my take. Only one Demon King but with the “true” vessel locked down the hatred of Demise influenced the next generation but with varying degrees.
My guess is that, if the Zonai were regarded as “gods” due to their powers, and one day they spontaneously descended upon Hyrule, then that makes me think that they may be some inter-dimensional beings. And once they had explored the land of Hyrule, and built their temples and devices, they left to explore other dimensions. Rauru stayed because he met Sonia and fell in love with her, Mineru likely stayed because her brother stayed. Or maybe the Zonai are just the transformed people of Skyloft as the Oocca were rumored to be from Twilight Princess.
The most popular theory seems to be that the sheikah towers and shrines descended back underground after the calamity was defeated. Which, aside from the disassembly theory, does make sense. But man, it would have been cool to find them in the depths, now defunct
Yona; I specifically remember they said she's from another Zora's Domain. My guess, is that it's referencing how in the Oracle games, the peaceful _River_ Zora, of Ocarina onwards, are made distinct from the aggressive _Ocean_ Zora from then-prior games.
Here is my question to you: Are Link and Zelda romantically involved in a relationship? There are evidences Zelda loves Link since before and after the events of Breath of the Wild. Thus, there are so many hints and Suggestions that their relationship evolved into lovers in Tears of the Kingdom. One example is when you go Hateno Village to check in Link’s old home. It’s called Zelda’s house. In the Japanese version however, it claims to be Link and Zelda’s house (they lived, eat and sleep together in one single bed). Another example is from Dragon Tear Memory 8, where Zelda speaks highly about Link to Queen Sonia and King Rauru as she blushes. Next is you get to see her second dairy in a her secret study room beneath their home where Zelda wrote about a surprise she was gonna give to Link after their investigating the underground caverns of Hyrule Castle. And lastly, you encounter a NPC after rebuilding Lurelin. He show you a photograph image of a Lover’s Pond where someone in disguise went there, then later implies that Zelda went there with Link. Those examples are heavily implied that this version Zelink is canon
Just a random theory but I think naydra,dinnral, and farosh were all zonai that ate secret stones it is semi back up by the frostbite, ember, and shock armor because they all have zonai clothing designs and resemble the dragons
Perhaps some of these mysteries could be answered in future DLC for Tears Of The Kingdom. That's my assumption, anyway. Also, thanks for not spewing hatred on Yona, because I love her as a character.
That last one actually was somewhat addressed in game. In the Tear where we see Ganondorf's false pledge to Rauru, he references the fact Mineru and Rauru are the last of the Zonai and in a later scene, one only shown when you find Mineru, she reveals that while she did survive her physical body died shortly after Rauru due to the injuries she suffered during the War and something called Gloom sickness
Indeed, Mineru was the last of the Zonai but she didn't last long. I don't know why anyone would think she survived; that's why she has that robot avatar thing instead of a meat body.
"Why can't we pet the dogs?" There is no outward shown forms of affection in the entire game that I know of. No one ever kisses, No one hugs. The closest thing to any form of affection is the ancient king and queen holding hands and I don't even know if I'm just remembering that or if that actually happened. Also, link holding Zelda to protect her from the fall. So many characters discuss their love or happiness towards each other but they never so much as give someone a hug now that they've been reunited.
Gannon says in one memory that Rauru and Mineru are the only Zonai to have stayed so either the Zonai have moved on or they are the last of their kind.
I have a theory about the sheikah slate @mojoplays . I think that after the events of botw it was donated to Robbie and Purah to help develop the Purah Pads as they share the same interface and have other similarities.
The biggest thing fans need to realize is just like the puzzles in Tears of Kingdom, you need to think outside the box in Terms of timeline placement. Also, just because we don't fully understand the timeline doesn't mean it isn't definitive. There is an explanation, but because fans don't like or understand it, it is tossed aside as false. I assure you the directors had a definitive answer in mind. We simply choose to not except it. Personally, I stand by my "bookend" and dream theory, as it it simple and makes complete sense. There are even tons of hint scattered throughout all the games that fully support the idea.
When I saw the shrine gone. A place that need I remind everyone that the was place of Link's rebirth. I thought of slaughtering every last Yiga clan members that destroyed it.
Regarding Yona I read her profile in game and it explicitly said that she is from another domain! So I’m guessing she knew Sidon in child hood and moved away and moved back after the events of BOTW
Time travel has always been the go to literary device to retcon a story, world, and characters. So lets think of it like Back to the future. BOTW takes place in a timeline where zelda never went back, ganon kills Sonia. Raru seals ganon away and the 4 tribes go about thier lives. No one prepares for Ganons arrival until the first calamity. Hyrule tasks the shieka to build the guardians and divine beasts. And so it begins. Now once Zelda picks up the stone she is now the new sage of Time. As such has created a new timeline that Zelda, Link, and Ganon have shifted into. This is why Ganon recognized Zelda. Now once Zelda is in the past of this new timeline, she can give insight to the new king and queen on what happens in the future as well as expose Ganondorfs treachery. Still fails save Sonia or turn the tide in battle, but gives Raru the faith that by sealing Ganon away that Link will be there to finally stop him. Thats why he knew to save him. Zelda's presence also altered hyrule significantly. Each race was now tasked for preparing for Ganon's return, and with the lessons of the other timeline Ancient technology was never weaponized. The shieka never made the guardians or divine beasts. Mineru could have sealed access to the underground mines. Calamity Ganon could still have been beaten back through the combined efforts of all the races with Zelda and Link at the head. He would still be a hero everyone reveres, and the calamity would have been minimalized.

I rather think Rauru would fit more as a Descendant of SS Zelda and Link Because Rauru is born with Light Powers just like SS Zelda, Sonja on the other hand controls time.

Who are the other dragons flying in the skies of Hyrule? If Zelda transformed in to a imortal dragon, the other once has to have done the same? Who are they?
In regards to the Zonai and timeline aspects. My theory is the Zonai are essentially Aliens who came down to Hyrule and were revered as gods in legend but in reality helped to begin the planets advancement in technology hence why their tech differs but is similar to ancient Sheika tech. My guess is sometime after the games like Adventure of Link or Spirit Tracks where its mentioned that Hyrule declined and had to be reestablished. My guess is the Zonai arrived at some point around this time, around 10,000+ years before BOTW. They began to help the kingdom rebuild and advance in technology. Eventually however the Zonai left the planet but some of their kind like Rauru and Minaru remained behind. Rauru eventually married the Hylian Sonia and the two helped to fully reunite the people and refound The kingdom of Hyrule, hence why Rauru is said to have been its first king. He is the first king of this version of Hyrule and following his rule he helped unite the other peoples such as the Gorons, Zora, and Rito into the kingdom and eventually the Gerudo as we saw with Ganondorf. So my guess is the era we see in the tears is after all other non BOTW games and shows the beginning of the era of Hyrule’s advancement thanks in part to the Zonai’s arrival on the planet.
A good couple of these are literally explained and talked about in the game and just makes it seem like someone wasn't done with the game (or even basic early storylines in the game) before making them for this list
I actually have a pretty good answer, when the tech betrayed there creators they completely scaped any shekia tech to prevent the events of botw from happening again with the rise of demise same with the divine beast
My take on the timeline. I think that Sonia is either the daughter of Link and Zelda from Skyward Sword and that the founding of Hyrule takes place soon after that once Rauru and Minuru return to the surface. I think this because Sonia and Totk Zelda share a bloodline. The Zora, Gerudo, and Rito could’ve been hidden in skyward sword. The Totk Ganondorf is definitely a different incarnation of Ganondorf we’ve had in previous games. Just a theory. I know there’s a lot of unanswered stuff still but it’s how I make sense of it. Also the sacred stones are definitely the Amber relics right? I wonder how long Nintendo had the zonai planned
I get the feeling that Nintendo isn't telling us the full story, and were gonna get DLC that's more story-focused rather than content focused. Someone below mentioned a Temple of Light dungeon, which I can totally see that work. I mean who knows? Maybe they might tiw up some loose ends with the timeline as well !
Actually more important would be what kind of civilization was inhabitting hyrule before skyward sword. Or is lorule still a thing? Or the dark world? where did the Palmorae ruins mirror of twlight lookalike ruin go? where is the four sword? where is Ghirahim? what happened to skyloft? Are the white sword of the goddess and the white sword of the picori related to each other? is zelda using the light force mentioned in the minish cap or the triforce of wisdom? where is the 3rd and 4th temple of time now? Since TP and SS both had one why was the shrine of awakening demolished and not used? there are many many more questions
I think Nintendo is using the zonai to solve every major mystery so they can move on. Both zonai we see have ‘masks’. Both masks share some design elements in common with Majora’s mask. Thus the answer to who were the mask tribe, is the zonai. The sheika have been around for a long time and have many magical powers. Every single one lines up with the zonai. The sheika may be the descendants of Hylean/Zonai hybrids. That would explain the very deliberate link between the sheika designs and the zonai. The interlopers from twilight were powerful magic welders. Zonai? Uh… Nintendo? The Minish? They look an awful lot like zonai with their ears and snouts. Nintendo no wait. The oocca? Powerful magic users with a very distinctive visual building flair. Zonai also had telekinesis so yeah. Yeah, I think the zonai were designed strangely with all these little points of odd so they could fit as the answer to every mystery. And I’m not sure how I feel about it.
The fact we find a baby Leviathan in the Gerudo desert means these are not the remains of any guardian spirits. Given that they're found on mountain tops and that Rock Salt is said to be from an ancient ocean this just means Hyrule was once below sea level. This could be a reference to actual Flood mythology as many cultures around the world have legends and records of the world being flooded which combined with archeologists finding piles of varied animal bones in mountain top caves and geologists finding oceanic sediment on mountain peaks all support the conclusion that the world did actually experience a catastrophic global flood. The Triforce can rest within soneone but cannot be fully utilised unless someone becomes attuned to it. This was first established in Skyward Sword where Link always had the Triforce within him as evidenced by the symbol manifesting when he completes his Silent Realm trial. Also within this realm when Link looks into water his reflection is the Triforce reinforcing that it was within him all along. Zelda in BotW also has the Triforce but her ability to wield its power is very erratic.
4:20 King Rauru's medallion resembles the face of Rauru, the Sage of Light from Ocarina of Time. When flipped, it resembles his owl form, Kaepora Gaebora
One of the kids in the Hateno Village school, does mention he may read a book abroad the Divine Beasts. There's also a lesson about them, but that seems to be it
I am all for the idea of a trilogy involving three ancient tribes. The rule of three is pretty apparent in the series with the three goddesses, three parts of the triforce etc.
10 bucks says they are xonai once known by the same names as the three goddesses from ocarina. that will be the next seqeul. its going to be a remake of ocarina that changes the timeline back to one timeline. tieing up loose end so to speak. after all we havent seen the triforce yet have we, well other than the rock things like the one zelda ate

If Nintendo intends to have the timelines merge then maybe there will be a hero incarnation that causes this merge. Could be interesting for a new game in the future. A Link that can travel and somehow influence the timelines.
Groose is the founder of the Zonai. They are all “divine beings” which is what Groose is, and “descended down from the heavens”, where they came from skyloft, as Groose might have come back from the surface to Skyloft, and started a new race.
My theory about the timeline. Is that TOTK Zelda lands a few generations after Skyward Sword, and that Skyward Sword Zelda is Sonia’s grandmother, great Grandmother, maybe 2x Great grandmother 🤷♀️
I think Breath of the Wild was in one timeline, and Tears of the Kingdom is its mirror image in another timeline. It’ll probably be a trilogy that merges all three
Leviathans: furthermore, they are *not* all whales. Only the Hebra one was a whale, identifiable by the structure of it's skull. The desert one is clearly avian, the Volcanic one reptilian- I lean towards turtleoid, but it doesn't have a shell, so presumably a Dodongo-- which may or may not be the same species as the giant 4-toed footprint that's been eroded or covered by a different lava flow, that used to be on the way to Goron City. I need to go back down and study two of the Dark Leviathans, but one is clearly a snake.
I treat every game (unless Nintendo specifically mentions them to be direct sequels) as their own story, their own legend, if you will. So I don't worry about the Zelda timeline at all.
Mineru died after the fight with ganon and was placed in the purah pad before zelda placed it in the construct. Zelda can possess the full triforce bc her intentions are pure, just like Link in Skyward sword. She just doesn’t seem to know how to make it work correctly as for wishes.
I’m just confused about who the ancient tribe are that’s mentioned in the barbarian armour set description, because it’s obviously not the zonai now is it lol
I tried to ignore some of these "mysteries" until you mentioned Yona... The game clearly states she's from another Zora tribe, and it's been years since Link last visited... No mystery there...
The DLC for Tears of The Kingdom is probably going to be huge and it will (hopefully) explain some of the mysteries. Like where or what truly is the Triforce and why didn't Ganondorf say anything about it (cause when Demise attacked the surface in Skyward Sword, his main goal was to obtain the Triforce so that makes Ganondorf's goal the same. Furthermore, a silly question but like who came first Ganondorf or Demise? I ask this cause if you look at Demise in Skyward Sword, he has a scar on his head,. probably from all the times the Hero has stabbed and destroyed his Secret Stone, like we saw in Tears of The Kingdom and how we ended Ganondorf in Oot and Wind Waker. So did we fight Demise in Totk or not? If so, where was Hylia? I look forward to the DLC to this game
The game explicitly states ad nauseum that it's set after the imprisoning war, so it's in the fallen hero timeline. What I don't understand is when was Rauru alive? Hyrule was already well established in Ocarina of Time, so it must have been before then, but the imprisoning war happened after Ocarina of Time. Did Zelda travel back in time more or less than 10,000 years?
You also could’ve had this as one of the unanswered questions (but the Sheikah tech and Divine Beasts are my biggest problems): Why didn’t Nintendo explain why there are TWO Ganon in this reality? There’s no direct memory tie between the villains, given Link and Zelda killed him as the Calamity. He doesn’t remember them by that event, instead what happens in the dragon tear story
I’m assuming that Calamity Ganon was the essence leaking from Ganondorf since Rauru’s grip on him weakened over time, and that essence acted more on hate than sentience, if that makes any sense.
Did you guys even play the game except a few questions like the one with the Triforce all got answers in the game. Like yes there are other Zora tribes or yes the Zonai were allready nearly extinct and Rauru and his sister has been the last of them when Zelda arrived in the past. You would know this things if you really played it and read what the characters are saying like with Yona there are multiple statements that she is from another Zora tribe and Mipha and Sidon met here multiple times at her tribe and vice versa.
ad. Timeline... there are already some videos about that. One of them, I like most, argues for it that it's both at the end of the timeline and the beginning of timeline (visions of the past) before even Hylia, which in turn would be the unseen daughter of Rauru and Sonia. Also the Ganondorf from Tears was the original mold of Demon king from Skysword and all others as parts of him moved 'independly'... ad. Sheikah... With upheaval many of the sheikah technology could be destroyed. Or replaced by zonai technology due to timeline overwrite, which would explain the sudden vanish of like 95% of sheikah related stuff. ad. Barbarian Tribe & Zonai.... could that be the barbarian tribe are hylians before they became hylians? I mean Rauru and Sonia founded Hyrule but it looked like Zonai and humans mixed together a bit around that time, or even a bit earlier. Also Zonai are not natives to the land of Hyrule... In the end I propose a different approach - BotW is subsequient games are of the soft reboot of the series...
Im hoping for a third game where it centers around ancient barbaric tribe. The game’s color would be red and it would be the game of power thus completing the trilogy (botw is blue and is the game of wisdom and totk is green, game of courage). And then Nintendo should shadow drop a fourth and final game. The color would be black and would revolve around the missing triforce piece. And the game should take place in space.
I don't like Yona, not because of the character, but because her existence implies there are regular places in the world that are outside Hyrule. Gross! I always thought that Hyrule is the entire universe in the games that feature it.
I don't know why people keep trying to connect previous games together when it was obviously not Nintendo's intention to do that, other than the direct sequels. It's like those people that try to connect all the Pixar movies together. It's fun to think about how Wall-E is the end of the world in Toy Story's timeline but it's not meant to be taken seriously.
I think it’s fun for the community and I disagree. I feel Nintendo does have the intentions on doing that other wise they wouldn’t have released that timeline book. ( hyrule historia )
@@fatbjogin I know it's fun but what I'm saying is you shouldn't be expecting Nintendo to release the missing link (pun intended) that's going to suddenly connect every game in the franchise in a coherent way because they weren't all made to be like that. And the book you're talking about was based completely on fan theories so it doesn't show that Nintendo has always intended to connect all the games together. The book was just for fun.

@@T43055 Nintendo said "this chronicle merely collects information that is believed to be true at this time", meaning they aren't intentionally connecting the games as they go it's just an afterthought. Making up connections that weren't there in the first place is the opposite of intentional.
There’s voice acting in this game, they say the character name “Mineru” multiples times, there’s no excuse why you keep saying it wrong in this video. You know how it’s supposed to be pronounced.
I hate this "timeline convergence" idea. Unless we see some type of DC, Flashpoint/Crisis sort of game explaining it that way, I don't buy it. There's no reason to believe that the easter eggs across timelines aren't just that, easter eggs or red herrings meant to throw us off.
@@paulwright774It’s definitely not that long. Gerudo are said to age a bit faster than Hylians. Why would all the other characters (like the kids in villages) only look a couple years older? That would mean the 10 year olds in BotW would be 18 in TotK.
@@WindMageMaster where is it stated that gerudo age faster? It is clearly stated that zoras and gorons age slower but I never remember the gerudos having such a claim made. I'm not saying you're wrong, I can't claim to remember every line of diologue in every zelda game I've ever played, but I feel like I'd remember something like this.
@@paulwright774 There’s a line… in either BotW or TotK about how Gerudo tend to grow up faster than their Hylian counterparts by some NPC, and in the Maddison quest, the old woman remarks that Maddison has grown very quickly, however… I’ll admit fault in my initial comment, as they might be referring to maturity level instead of aging, as I interpreted it. I suppose it could still be aging, but even so, Maddison looks to be around 4 or so to me. Based on how much all the other NPCs have aged, (some select kids are only slightly taller and barely aged, whereas others have, but are still rather young) it would have to be a number of years that aren’t quite as significant as 8.
Uuuh... as someone who plays it in German, this is the first time I heard Zelda's English voice. And... it's not good. Not at all. Now on to what I actually wanted to say. I have no idea what the dialogue is in English. But in one of the Dragon Tears memories, in the German version, Ganondorf does state that Rauru and Mineru are the last remaining Zonai. So yeah, the answer to that question is that yes they were already basically extinct. We still don't know the reason, though.

Hey, let's take it even further and say that the two tribes actually fought so fiercely, that it left the Barbarian tribe completely extinct and the Zonai with only Rauru and Mineru left. Which equals also extinct. And it would explain why we find nothing about that Barbarian tribe anywhere, nor any that could be possible descendants.

Hmmmmm I suspect Temple of Light is the Forgotten Temple as it seems like the head quarter, but I like the idea of this being saved for DLC

My take is the Zonai are a mostly nomadic tribe. Alien space travel of course. They happened upon the Hylians sometime after Skyward Sword to help create Hyrule. Their existence was buried to try and prevent Ganon’s true vessel being released. The influence of Demises hatred still reaches out to the one male Gerudo. Explaining how there are more Ganons while the Demon King is stuck underground.

My guess is that, if the Zonai were regarded as “gods” due to their powers, and one day they spontaneously descended upon Hyrule, then that makes me think that they may be some inter-dimensional beings. And once they had explored the land of Hyrule, and built their temples and devices, they left to explore other dimensions.
Rauru stayed because he met Sonia and fell in love with her, Mineru likely stayed because her brother stayed.
Or maybe the Zonai are just the transformed people of Skyloft as the Oocca were rumored to be from Twilight Princess.

My guess, is that it's referencing how in the Oracle games, the peaceful _River_ Zora, of Ocarina onwards, are made distinct from the aggressive _Ocean_ Zora from then-prior games.

There are evidences Zelda loves Link since before and after the events of Breath of the Wild.
Thus, there are so many hints and Suggestions that their relationship evolved into lovers in Tears of the Kingdom.
One example is when you go Hateno Village to check in Link’s old home. It’s called Zelda’s house. In the Japanese version however, it claims to be Link and Zelda’s house (they lived, eat and sleep together in one single bed).
Another example is from Dragon Tear Memory 8, where Zelda speaks highly about Link to Queen Sonia and King Rauru as she blushes.
Next is you get to see her second dairy in a her secret study room beneath their home where Zelda wrote about a surprise she was gonna give to Link after their investigating the underground caverns of Hyrule Castle.
And lastly, you encounter a NPC after rebuilding Lurelin. He show you a photograph image of a Lover’s Pond where someone in disguise went there, then later implies that Zelda went there with Link.
Those examples are heavily implied that this version Zelink is canon

That last one actually was somewhat addressed in game. In the Tear where we see Ganondorf's false pledge to Rauru, he references the fact Mineru and Rauru are the last of the Zonai and in a later scene, one only shown when you find Mineru, she reveals that while she did survive her physical body died shortly after Rauru due to the injuries she suffered during the War and something called Gloom sickness
Indeed, Mineru was the last of the Zonai but she didn't last long. I don't know why anyone would think she survived; that's why she has that robot avatar thing instead of a meat body.
"Why can't we pet the dogs?" There is no outward shown forms of affection in the entire game that I know of.
No one ever kisses, No one hugs. The closest thing to any form of affection is the ancient king and queen holding hands and I don't even know if I'm just remembering that or if that actually happened. Also, link holding Zelda to protect her from the fall.
So many characters discuss their love or happiness towards each other but they never so much as give someone a hug now that they've been reunited.

Gannon says in one memory that Rauru and Mineru are the only Zonai to have stayed so either the Zonai have moved on or they are the last of their kind.
I have a theory about the sheikah slate @mojoplays . I think that after the events of botw it was donated to Robbie and Purah to help develop the Purah Pads as they share the same interface and have other similarities.
The biggest thing fans need to realize is just like the puzzles in Tears of Kingdom, you need to think outside the box in Terms of timeline placement. Also, just because we don't fully understand the timeline doesn't mean it isn't definitive. There is an explanation, but because fans don't like or understand it, it is tossed aside as false. I assure you the directors had a definitive answer in mind. We simply choose to not except it. Personally, I stand by my "bookend" and dream theory, as it it simple and makes complete sense. There are even tons of hint scattered throughout all the games that fully support the idea.

Regarding Yona I read her profile in game and it explicitly said that she is from another domain! So I’m guessing she knew Sidon in child hood and moved away and moved back after the events of BOTW
Time travel has always been the go to literary device to retcon a story, world, and characters. So lets think of it like Back to the future. BOTW takes place in a timeline where zelda never went back, ganon kills Sonia. Raru seals ganon away and the 4 tribes go about thier lives. No one prepares for Ganons arrival until the first calamity. Hyrule tasks the shieka to build the guardians and divine beasts. And so it begins. Now once Zelda picks up the stone she is now the new sage of Time. As such has created a new timeline that Zelda, Link, and Ganon have shifted into. This is why Ganon recognized Zelda. Now once Zelda is in the past of this new timeline, she can give insight to the new king and queen on what happens in the future as well as expose Ganondorfs treachery. Still fails save Sonia or turn the tide in battle, but gives Raru the faith that by sealing Ganon away that Link will be there to finally stop him. Thats why he knew to save him. Zelda's presence also altered hyrule significantly. Each race was now tasked for preparing for Ganon's return, and with the lessons of the other timeline Ancient technology was never weaponized. The shieka never made the guardians or divine beasts. Mineru could have sealed access to the underground mines. Calamity Ganon could still have been beaten back through the combined efforts of all the races with Zelda and Link at the head. He would still be a hero everyone reveres, and the calamity would have been minimalized.

In regards to the Zonai and timeline aspects. My theory is the Zonai are essentially Aliens who came down to Hyrule and were revered as gods in legend but in reality helped to begin the planets advancement in technology hence why their tech differs but is similar to ancient Sheika tech. My guess is sometime after the games like Adventure of Link or Spirit Tracks where its mentioned that Hyrule declined and had to be reestablished. My guess is the Zonai arrived at some point around this time, around 10,000+ years before BOTW. They began to help the kingdom rebuild and advance in technology. Eventually however the Zonai left the planet but some of their kind like Rauru and Minaru remained behind. Rauru eventually married the Hylian Sonia and the two helped to fully reunite the people and refound The kingdom of Hyrule, hence why Rauru is said to have been its first king. He is the first king of this version of Hyrule and following his rule he helped unite the other peoples such as the Gorons, Zora, and Rito into the kingdom and eventually the Gerudo as we saw with Ganondorf. So my guess is the era we see in the tears is after all other non BOTW games and shows the beginning of the era of Hyrule’s advancement thanks in part to the Zonai’s arrival on the planet.
A good couple of these are literally explained and talked about in the game and just makes it seem like someone wasn't done with the game (or even basic early storylines in the game) before making them for this list
I actually have a pretty good answer, when the tech betrayed there creators they completely scaped any shekia tech to prevent the events of botw from happening again with the rise of demise same with the divine beast
My take on the timeline. I think that Sonia is either the daughter of Link and Zelda from Skyward Sword and that the founding of Hyrule takes place soon after that once Rauru and Minuru return to the surface. I think this because Sonia and Totk Zelda share a bloodline. The Zora, Gerudo, and Rito could’ve been hidden in skyward sword. The Totk Ganondorf is definitely a different incarnation of Ganondorf we’ve had in previous games.
Just a theory. I know there’s a lot of unanswered stuff still but it’s how I make sense of it.

I think Nintendo is using the zonai to solve every major mystery so they can move on.
Both zonai we see have ‘masks’. Both masks share some design elements in common with Majora’s mask. Thus the answer to who were the mask tribe, is the zonai.
The sheika have been around for a long time and have many magical powers. Every single one lines up with the zonai. The sheika may be the descendants of Hylean/Zonai hybrids. That would explain the very deliberate link between the sheika designs and the zonai.
The interlopers from twilight were powerful magic welders. Zonai? Uh… Nintendo?
The Minish? They look an awful lot like zonai with their ears and snouts. Nintendo no wait.
The oocca? Powerful magic users with a very distinctive visual building flair. Zonai also had telekinesis so yeah.
Yeah, I think the zonai were designed strangely with all these little points of odd so they could fit as the answer to every mystery.
And I’m not sure how I feel about it.
The fact we find a baby Leviathan in the Gerudo desert means these are not the remains of any guardian spirits. Given that they're found on mountain tops and that Rock Salt is said to be from an ancient ocean this just means Hyrule was once below sea level. This could be a reference to actual Flood mythology as many cultures around the world have legends and records of the world being flooded which combined with archeologists finding piles of varied animal bones in mountain top caves and geologists finding oceanic sediment on mountain peaks all support the conclusion that the world did actually experience a catastrophic global flood.
The Triforce can rest within soneone but cannot be fully utilised unless someone becomes attuned to it. This was first established in Skyward Sword where Link always had the Triforce within him as evidenced by the symbol manifesting when he completes his Silent Realm trial. Also within this realm when Link looks into water his reflection is the Triforce reinforcing that it was within him all along. Zelda in BotW also has the Triforce but her ability to wield its power is very erratic.

I am all for the idea of a trilogy involving three ancient tribes. The rule of three is pretty apparent in the series with the three goddesses, three parts of the triforce etc.

The timelines probably merged back into a unified timeline, sense Eiji Aonuma did say Botw takes places at the end of every timeline.
Groose is the founder of the Zonai. They are all “divine beings” which is what Groose is, and “descended down from the heavens”, where they came from skyloft, as Groose might have come back from the surface to Skyloft, and started a new race.
My theory about the timeline. Is that TOTK Zelda lands a few generations after Skyward Sword, and that Skyward Sword Zelda is Sonia’s grandmother, great Grandmother, maybe 2x Great grandmother 🤷♀️
I think Breath of the Wild was in one timeline, and Tears of the Kingdom is its mirror image in another timeline. It’ll probably be a trilogy that merges all three

Leviathans: furthermore, they are *not* all whales. Only the Hebra one was a whale, identifiable by the structure of it's skull. The desert one is clearly avian, the Volcanic one reptilian- I lean towards turtleoid, but it doesn't have a shell, so presumably a Dodongo-- which may or may not be the same species as the giant 4-toed footprint that's been eroded or covered by a different lava flow, that used to be on the way to Goron City.
I need to go back down and study two of the Dark Leviathans, but one is clearly a snake.
I treat every game (unless Nintendo specifically mentions them to be direct sequels) as their own story, their own legend, if you will. So I don't worry about the Zelda timeline at all.

The DLC for Tears of The Kingdom is probably going to be huge and it will (hopefully) explain some of the mysteries. Like where or what truly is the Triforce and why didn't Ganondorf say anything about it (cause when Demise attacked the surface in Skyward Sword, his main goal was to obtain the Triforce so that makes Ganondorf's goal the same. Furthermore, a silly question but like who came first Ganondorf or Demise? I ask this cause if you look at Demise in Skyward Sword, he has a scar on his head,. probably from all the times the Hero has stabbed and destroyed his Secret Stone, like we saw in Tears of The Kingdom and how we ended Ganondorf in Oot and Wind Waker. So did we fight Demise in Totk or not? If so, where was Hylia? I look forward to the DLC to this game
The scar on Demise's head corresponds to where the sealing spike was on his imprisoned form.

BotW and TotK play in there own timeline. There are references but that's all. You can see BotW as a reboot somehow.
The game explicitly states ad nauseum that it's set after the imprisoning war, so it's in the fallen hero timeline. What I don't understand is when was Rauru alive? Hyrule was already well established in Ocarina of Time, so it must have been before then, but the imprisoning war happened after Ocarina of Time. Did Zelda travel back in time more or less than 10,000 years?

Why didn’t Nintendo explain why there are TWO Ganon in this reality? There’s no direct memory tie between the villains, given Link and Zelda killed him as the Calamity. He doesn’t remember them by that event, instead what happens in the dragon tear story
I’m assuming that Calamity Ganon was the essence leaking from Ganondorf since Rauru’s grip on him weakened over time, and that essence acted more on hate than sentience, if that makes any sense.
About the timeline, the most likely thing is that the botw timeline is it’s own universe

Like yes there are other Zora tribes or yes the Zonai were allready nearly extinct and Rauru and his sister has been the last of them when Zelda arrived in the past.
You would know this things if you really played it and read what the characters are saying like with Yona there are multiple statements that she is from another Zora tribe and Mipha and Sidon met here multiple times at her tribe and vice versa.

One of them, I like most, argues for it that it's both at the end of the timeline and the beginning of timeline (visions of the past) before even Hylia, which in turn would be the unseen daughter of Rauru and Sonia. Also the Ganondorf from Tears was the original mold of Demon king from Skysword and all others as parts of him moved 'independly'...
ad. Sheikah... With upheaval many of the sheikah technology could be destroyed. Or replaced by zonai technology due to timeline overwrite, which would explain the sudden vanish of like 95% of sheikah related stuff.
ad. Barbarian Tribe & Zonai.... could that be the barbarian tribe are hylians before they became hylians? I mean Rauru and Sonia founded Hyrule but it looked like Zonai and humans mixed together a bit around that time, or even a bit earlier. Also Zonai are not natives to the land of Hyrule...
In the end I propose a different approach - BotW is subsequient games are of the soft reboot of the series...
Im hoping for a third game where it centers around ancient barbaric tribe. The game’s color would be red and it would be the game of power thus completing the trilogy (botw is blue and is the game of wisdom and totk is green, game of courage).
And then Nintendo should shadow drop a fourth and final game. The color would be black and would revolve around the missing triforce piece.
And the game should take place in space.

It's like those people that try to connect all the Pixar movies together. It's fun to think about how Wall-E is the end of the world in Toy Story's timeline but it's not meant to be taken seriously.

@@paulwright774 There’s a line… in either BotW or TotK about how Gerudo tend to grow up faster than their Hylian counterparts by some NPC, and in the Maddison quest, the old woman remarks that Maddison has grown very quickly, however… I’ll admit fault in my initial comment, as they might be referring to maturity level instead of aging, as I interpreted it. I suppose it could still be aging, but even so, Maddison looks to be around 4 or so to me. Based on how much all the other NPCs have aged, (some select kids are only slightly taller and barely aged, whereas others have, but are still rather young) it would have to be a number of years that aren’t quite as significant as 8.

Uuuh... as someone who plays it in German, this is the first time I heard Zelda's English voice. And... it's not good. Not at all.
Now on to what I actually wanted to say. I have no idea what the dialogue is in English. But in one of the Dragon Tears memories, in the German version, Ganondorf does state that Rauru and Mineru are the last remaining Zonai. So yeah, the answer to that question is that yes they were already basically extinct. We still don't know the reason, though.
I think the barbarian tribes might be the ones that ended them

Hey, let's take it even further and say that the two tribes actually fought so fiercely, that it left the Barbarian tribe completely extinct and the Zonai with only Rauru and Mineru left. Which equals also extinct. And it would explain why we find nothing about that Barbarian tribe anywhere, nor any that could be possible descendants.
