X2 (formerly known as X) is a steel roller coaster operating at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. It is the world's first 4th Dimension roller coaster and was the final roller coaster conceived and installed by ride manufacturer Arrow Dynamics. The ride is unique in that the trains' seats pitch 360 degrees forwards and in reverse independent of the main chassis. The coaster initially opened to the public on January 12, 2002; numerous malfunctions delayed it from debuting in 2001 as was originally anticipated. On December 2, 2007, the ride closed for its transformation into X2. It was completely repainted, received new third generation vehicles, and featured new special effects including a pair of flame throwers. The ride reopened on May 24, 2008, following the upgrades. The ride's moniker is pronounced X-two by the amusement park; however, due to the '2' being in superscript, the ride is sometimes referred to as X-squared, or Xtreme to the Second Power.
The ride, along with Tatsu and Full Throttle, are considered to be Six Flags Magic Mountain's signature coasters. The ride is one of the most popular in the park, with wait times often exceeding two hours.
When I got home from Magic Mountain, I tried to go to sleep, but every time i closed my eyes I was back on X2 going down that first drop backward

I was freaked about going on the others after this one with how crazy it was, but honestly none of the others come close to the scariness and intensity of this one, so it was all cake after this! Even Superman and Goliath were nothing in comparison, in my opinion. So, I'd say go on this one first, like I did and you'll be ready for anything 😂
Yeah if you can do this, you can do any of them. That's why I made sure this was our first ride of the day for the people who had never been HAHAHA

Went on this years ago as the first ride during my first of many trips to magic mountain, kinda made everything else extremely tame, but still very fun.
Now I don't even ride it because it's just painful for short people

Alan schilky designed it. It has two sets of tracks, one for the train and one for the rotation of the seats.
There's one in Japan that's taller, faster, longer and isn't incredibly bumpy

1:50 I saw my life flash before my eyes after the seats flipped over and revealed the first drop. The height catches you so off guard and it literally feels like you’re falling to your death. Incredibly well done.

Yeah first time I rode I was so fucking confused and was like "WHY THE FUCK ARE WE SPINNING!?"lol but U liked the ride and then even went on a second time.

Can confirm. I was terrified of roller coasters and haven’t really ridden any except for the one at California Adventure, but as I agreed to go on X2, everything changed for me

Can we appreciate the theming for gods sake? The start with the calm chill music, then the ICONIC enter sandman guitar with screaming voices, followed by beastie boys as the wild ride begins. And it looks even better with the sunset in your eyes, at dark, riding with friends and enter sandman blasting. Truly incredible. Love the ride.

Went on this at night during Fright Fest (they leave the park lights off during fright fest) so it was almost pitch black and it was such an awesome experience

Howling Burd19 Yesss except Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit allows you to choose from a list of songs:) and everyone listens to their own shit. While I worked at Universal, I'd ride it to get pumped up before and after work (if the ride was open and had a decent queue) But yeah, I'd always choose to listen to I Will Survive 😂 and it was so perfect. I'd sing my heart out to the song.

Oh man. I remember getting on this ride during my high school grad night. I gripped the handles so hard I lost all feeling in my hands. And I was riding at night too so it was practically all black. I literally felt like my heart was gonna stop. 10/10 would do it again lol.
I rode it for the first time last night in almost pitch black conditions bc it was like 20 min after closing, and all I remember is feeling like I was gonna die and my hands gripping the handles so hard that my hands remained clenched for like 10 minutes bc the muscles were so stressed lol

This is one of the only coasters that absolutely terrified me while waiting in line and climbing the lift hill. I'm talking heart palpitations, clammy hands and just pure fear. The whole nine. LOL!!

That sucks, bro. This is definitely not a "first time" rollercoaster. It's something you go on after some experience, considering it's pretty intense. Six Flags probably isn't the best place for you to test out coasters. Disneyland and Knotts have some starter rides. I would have recommended Colossus, but that's a thrill ride now, lol. When I was a kid, my first loop coaster was Revolution, so that may be a good place for you to start. Oh, Ninja would be a nice relaxing one for you to try, as well. :)
Just remember that it's perfectly fine if coasters aren't your thing. Don't let that one experience scare you, though. Start small and if you still don't like it, that's okay. One does not need coasters to have a full life. ;)

I remember thinking that Six Flags can’t be that scary but once I rode this ride as my first Six Flags ride ever I didn’t want to go to any more rides because I thought they would the same level of intensity I unfortunately lost my shoes to this ride and never got it back because I hate interacting

I went on this ride not knowing that the carts spun and that I was in the front row, and I’ll tell you, I’m an adrenaline junkie, but I was legit scared going on this ride 😂 I’ve been on more than 50 coasters, and this one takes the cake as the best
I don't know that I'd personally call it the best (it was almost too much for me) but I'd definitely say it's the most intense one I've ever been on. Huuuge adrenaline rush from it but I think it's the one that I would not go on again 😂

This ride feels like a car accident
When I was in line I was so scared to the point that I was close to having a panic attack. The constant whispering of X2 did not help. But I would never chicken out. When I went on it, I prepared for the worst. But you know what? It wasn't half as bad as I'd imagined it to be. When you get to top of the climb, your chair will flip over and you will shoot down that vertical drop head first, but that motion actually helped eliminated the stomach dropping feeling you normally get on a vertical drop ride. I felt nothing in my stomach, just funnnn! Recommend!
Same exact experience. I hated the banner that says shutting your eyes won't make it go away! Haha so I didn't even bother and now it's my favorite ride.

I have honestly never ridden a ride crazier than this one. I remember that feeling of being at the top of the hill...the music stops and the heart beat sound starts. That's literally what my heart was doing! My palms were starting to sweat just watching this!! 😅

Ceasar Hernandez I went last week, luckily I had my flash pass and the wait was 5 minutes, but the line got so long, there was security and they brought out barricades to extend the original waiting line walkway. It fills up within like 10 minutes after the park opens lol.

I used to be absolutely terrified of roller coasters but I slowly started to love them. I ended up loving this roller coaster so much bc of the spinning chairs, the music, the fire, the adrenaline overall. unfortunately I got a bad fever in 2016 that left me with severe migraines/motion sickness so I can’t enjoy roller coasters anymore.

I hope they always keep this ride in operation and maintained. The first time I went on it, I had a mild panic attack on the first drop (I've never been that physically shell-shocked by a rollercoaster and the sensation is so intense on the body). But now I know what to expect, going on it is just an exciting experience. There is no other rollercoaster that even compares.

When my three friends said this was the easiest ride not only was I fooled but dam this was the hardest ride at six flags to my go getters this ride will change your life the production ride and fulfillment is beyond this world of speed

I remember going on this ride with my dad when I was 14. And I still can't fathom that my dad cried because of this Unlike me I was just getting butterflies in my stomach the entire time! Best time of my life
When I rode X2 there was no music playing as we went up. I wish there was though, I probably would have been less scared 😂😂
if the train isn't playing the music, just tell the operators working. It's literally just a button they have to push on the side of the train to turn it on. That's what happened to me.

I'm so glad this ride is still around. I remember going to it in its initial version way back in the early 00s, and it still seems like it's still got that surprising bite to it. I miss this coaster.
This is THE BEST and MOST INTENSE roller coaster I have ever been on. Didn't even know what the hell was going on.

I don't feel the stomach drop anymore. It's turned into an adrenaline rush feeling of sorts.
I've been on this and all I can remember is the first drop. What an amazing ride.
Arguably the meanest ride in the country and i loved it.
This one still gets our nerves wrecked and adrenaline pumping. One of our favorite.
This was the first major roller coaster i had ever been on and ever since I’ve had a roller coaster addiction. This is literally my favorite ride at six flags and definitely worth the wait IMO😭
I went on the ride yesterday and out of all the rides at six flags this was the only one that could actually make me scream.
Having enter sandman play was just a bonus to the ride.
I rode this with my eyes closed the entire time and STILL feel traumatized from 5 years ago 😆

2019 rode x2 for the first time. Extreme! Great coaster. It mechanically adjusts even for tall torso people very well. The ride is backwards and inverts and switches back at the right time to give you the best feeling. Laughing, smiling, screaming the whole way. But umm, the wait time... the entrance sign said 2 hour wait. It was 3 hours... I rode almost everything at magic mountain, x2 was the best.
I love that X2 plays Metallica on the way up, while referencing Full Metal Jacket. I also love it plays Beastie Boys on the way down. That's awesome.
And Rage Against the Machine pulling into the station :)

Tbh this id my favorite arrow dynamic coaster without a doubt although I've heard a few say the one at dollywood is better idk bc its one the other side of the country .

I am especially fond on magnum xl200 and have great memories of drachen fire from when I was a kid. Now my kid loves roller coasters and starting to learn who built what coasters and can usually tell just from looking at the tracks.

I did it when it was brand new in 2008. Imagine that I was a French tourist, coming for the first time to LA. I will remember this ride forever.

i waited smth between 2 and 3 hours to go to the front seat of Silver Star in Europa park Germany that is nothing compared to this one. I would wait 24h to get on this one i guess :)

Went on X2 a few days ago and it left my throat hoarse as hell. Easily my favorite ride at Magic Mountain though, and it honestly wasn’t as bad as I was told. Got to go on it 3 times in a row due to the line being incredibly empty, too. For new riders, I would highly recommend keeping your head pinned against the seat, as I let my head be free from the tension and then immediately got slammed back towards the seat. Hurt for a minute or two, but it gave my friend sitting next to me a good laugh!
When all the special effects are working, it's the best damn coaster in the world. Yes, even better than Eejanaika, based on the on-board audio and fire alone.
The ride was so scary I did not know what the hell was going on?
First time at Six Flags and my friends picked this ride. I was so afraid of roller coasters and after this I ended up in love them. My friends that were “the braves” of the group were so scared after this. Jajajajaj I will never forget the countdown before the falling.
I'm going to six flags for the first time tomorrow and I'm excited for this ride. I'll tell you guys how it goes 😂

I remember waiting 1½hours to get on this coaster and I remember hearing that *"X-X-X-x-x-x-x2"* . It felt like we're on another planet, the seats facing the opposite direction. It was so nice outside that day and the people I was with were really nice to me that made even better. Mind-blowing experience to say the least, had no idea this ride has it's soundtrack. Throwing you off "IT HAD TO BE YOU".... what in the....."GOING DOWN"!!!!! *"ADRENALINE RUSH ACTIVATED"* .....THANK YOU 6 FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN!!!!

This is by far the scariest ride at the park.
I could ride X2 for hours.
I know it's three years later, but having just gone on it, it really bangs your head around during the seat flips now. I think tatsu messed me up more tbh, that pretzel loop is nothing short of mindboggling.

my friends and i went on this ride (for the first time ever) after feeling extremely nauseous from the food we ate and we had no clue how intense this ride would be. we had the best time ever and it is one of the best roller coasters in the park. it somehow made us feel better after the ride ended lol. it’s such an incredible ride!!
All my life, I’ve been so terrified to ride this. But I was just so sick and tired of being a wuss and walking away from my fears. my friend encouraged me to get on it and once we were on the chain lift, I instantly regretted it. But all I wanted to do was get over my fear. Even if My reaction was going to come out bad, i just still wanted to experience this ride myself, No matter how scared I was. But it’s not that I was scared of dying, it was because I was bad at handling drops. Ive just ALWAYS been afraid of drops. And because I knew that the drop on this ride goes straight down, facing the ground, it gave me so much anxiety. I just knew it wasn’t going to end well. As soon as the seats went over the first bump, in my mind I was just thinking “welp, you only live once man” And that’s when the seats turned and I was facing down. The drop was so scary but at the same time intensely awesome. It honestly felt like I was being dragged to hell. The way the seats spun at the end of the drop caught me by suprise! Honestly whoever created this ride is smart because The way they designed the seats just made it feel like you were going to fall out! There is just nothing to hold on too except for the shoulder bars which have far away handles, so it made the drop super scary! But I actually just really loved the feeling. It gave me a huge adrenaline rush! And It took all my stress out. And the rest of the ride was just so fast! Usually, all the rides at six flags are so fast that you don’t even feel a thing. But THIS ride, was just so intense, I could feel everything! The way the seats turn and glide around the curves made me feel like I was going to fly out of my seat. And the way the fire shoots right at you is so scary! It was the most intense ride I’ve ever been on at six flags! Definitely a good ride! And probably the only ride I’d be scared to repeat over and over again. But this ride will definitely make you scream! Love it. I also suggest if you are a beginner, don’t ride this! try colossus, full throttle and Goliath first, then you’ll have enough faith to get on this! It’s super fun! And it will numb you from all the other rides! If you can ride X2, you can ride anything! 😌😀

I had no idea that this ride was this crazy, and I did this ride first 😭😭. Instant regret, and this was my first rollercoaster ride in years 😭😭😭
Took me a hole day before my son and the o so kind stewards from the ride convinced me to go in. I bailed out like 7 times and it was the last ride of that day before the park closed. We are from Belgium so we were sure that we would not be back like next month for another try. I kept my eyes closed till after the second drop and my son was telling me in detail what i could expect. This is by far THE SCARIEST ride of my life. I literally cried and saw big man crying as well when leaving the ride. Hands down for the constructor!!! Awesome work
This was the first ride I went on for the day and after that I felt like I could take on the world. Definitely recommend this one first. Honestly it wasn’t too bad.
