- Senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda - whose comment last month about an inheritance tax in the United States sparked a massive fight with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party - has triggered another row in his attempt to make a pitch for national unity.
In an exclusive , Mr Pitroda described India as a "... diverse country... where people on East look like Chinese, people on West look like Arab, people on North look like maybe White and people in South look like Africa".
The Congress has distanced itself from the remark.

I watch CNN News18 in the US specifically for the debates (Plain Speak, Hard Facts, The Right Stand and Brass Tacks) hosted by the four senior anchors. The content is excellent. There are 2 issues with the broadcast -
(1) Lately the channel is getting more ads that cut not only into these engaging debates but also into middle of a sentence either by the host or a guest. And then entire remaining part of the debate is lost. You are getting ads because of the viewership and the viewership is due to the content. Please don’t forget that.
(2) The show timing in the program guide doesn’t match the actual air time. So recording gets affected.
I would also like to sincerely request the channel to
please remove the annoying loud background music, which is somewhat heard in this UA-cam video too. At times I have to increase the volume 4x to be able to hear properly. The music plays even during the clippings of PM shown at the beginning of the debate.

As one of the people who does look like a Chinese person, I do not take offence to Pitroda, we do, ask anyone who might be aware, we are Mongoloid. Most of us are proud of it. Dark people do resemble native Africans and don't have to have a racist tone to it. They are amazing. The north indian people do look & claim to be Aaryan.
I don't know if it's just me, but Pitroda had a lot of things to say after he pointed out how different regional Indians look different but how we stay united beyond these petty differences was what I took away from the section the ruling party & their media henchmen are trying to build a case around.
It's a shame you can't make sense of a full sentence. My class 2 students would be able to do a better comprehension of that. Then again my kids don't have an agenda or an election to influence, unlike the media personalities & the politically motivated leaders they interview perse.
