I have been watching Paul since he started making videos. I'm married to a Filipina since 2012. His way of telling stories and his amazing laughs make me laugh a lot too😅 . Congratulations on this interview. You were born to ask good questions. Keep going. Cheers 🍻
I moved to Philippines at 36, been here close to a decade now. My recommendations to younger people living here is frugality, independence, and stay fit. I was an mechanic then an engineer. I can fix just about anything. I cook all my own food from whole foods from the local market. I can live in the province if need be. Make do with what you have, it is not a developed country and they do things differently. As Jimmy Buffett sang "Breathe in, Breathe out and move on." Lifting weights and cardio keeps the medical issues and Dr away, yes it is hot, you can get used to it. Find a good Filipina and she will treat you great. Cheers!
Paul is one of the good guys. I've met him personally. He has an amazing ability to be lighthearted in almost every situation. I hope someday that I can achieve his level of good heartedness and positive thinking. My hat is off to the man. -Steve
This is a very good interview, well done and thank you. I have already subed to you and now I know why. You are very good at this so please keep it up!
Great interview with a great guy. Been watching Paul and Reeky for 4 years now. Jealous as hell, working on the debt load, and hoping to join them both. Worried because my time is running out also.
So many of us living here happily. Be humble and don't be afraid to adapt. Just be respectful. When you take your time to find a good girl life becomes wonderful and forefeeling
Alex, you seem to be very wise beyond your years (that makes sense seeing you being interviewed by Old Dog). Hope your channel flourishes.... You have great interview skills.
It was a very good interview, you're both very good,we know more about Paul ,his story, and how it is in Philippines , thanks Alex and Paul from île d ' Orléans Quebec.
I am a new subscriber to your channel. You have awesome interviewing skills. Keep up the good work, brother 🙌 I’ve been in the Philippines for over 4 1/2 months now and loving every minute of it 🙌❤️🇵🇭
I am in love with a Filipina that I met online. So my exposure to the Philippines had always been her and her little life. So when I made my first trip I found I was overjoyed with her but I'm not at all impressed with the country. In the cities I see the hopelessness of severe poverty in an inescapable 360 degree view. The children there are allowed to or possibly forced to fend for themselves. Children begging everywhere you go, there's just no getting away from it. I've travelled extensively throughout SE Asia and I don't see it anywhere near the degree I see in the Philippines. I am a charitable person but I could give everything I own and it wouldn't even begin to make a noticeable dent. My plan is to build my own personal little oasis in the countryside and live in my own private little (artificial) paradise. But as for the cities and populated areas, I find them to be just full of soul crushing despair and abject poverty. I will only go to the cities on an as needed basis. And of course my sweetheart just says as long as she can be with me everyday she will be happy anywhere.
Great interview, I've been watching Old Dog's videos since the early months of the pandemic days. Not only is he a great storyteller, he gives that glimmer of hope for us guys still stuck in the West who are looking for a path to a better way of life.....especially with respect to financial freedom in these days of crazy inflation we're all dealing with.
Hi Alex. I just became a new subscriber to your channel. Great video interview with Paul from "Paul Old Dog New Tricks" He's a great story teller and seems to be a terrific guy that you can have a coffee or a beer with. Paul has a great wealth of knowledge , experience and insight that makes it always a great experience listening to him. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Watched Paul from the beginning of his channel. Your channel has some big shoes to fill if you are following in Pauls footsteps. Will test the waters of your channel and if the zeal is there I will stay.
Same here. I visited Thailand in 2014 and knew that I would retire there. (I was 56 then) Since then, after looking over what other destinations were available, I've settled on the Philippines as *The Destination*. Retiring in a few days, then settling with family, and I'm off.
All species in the animal kingdom have the adaptability but what hold the species is not having the courage to face the challenge and once they make move, they will adapt to the new environment
Alex, sorry I didn’t see this live but it would have been aired at 4:00AM when I experience REM sleep, with that in mind think about a preview time a tad bit later.
Paul’s last thought is absolutely spot on! Younger people in the west do not appreciate how privileged a lifestyle they live until facing true poverty. Then they discover their inner self…some will change becoming a better person, others will turn nastier towards fellow human beings. Philippines is a journey of discovery and I love it.
I agree with Paul on most things he’s saying but as a guy whose lived in Duma for 9 years, Ph for 12 years, I think your missing talking to the guys that have been here for a very long time. Some 20 plus years, that are not YTers but could offer a whole different perspective. Good interview though 👍
All are welcome in the beautiful Philippines 🇵🇭. Young, middle-age, seniors. Young people are wondering how they can live comfortably with a nice Filipina and survive living by the beach or mountains. I believe that alot of Filipinas wants security. If you have a steady check and dedicated to your Filipina, you will live forever. Always remember that you make your dreams come true, no one can tell you different. Paul is a very honest person. He is telling the truth about life in the Philippines. Philippines 🇵🇭 will always be top places to visit and most definitely retire. PERIOD.
Your interview would have been better if you'd sat down opposite Paul, rather than standing over him and making him look up at you. Just a friendly comment...
Seems like same old stuff with all Philippines videos, boring as usual I don’t get inspired by all these Philippines UA-camrs the food is horrible there, infrastructure poor, noise pollution, mistreatment of dogs poor hospitals. I’m taking Thailand, Vietnam or Bali any day over the Philippines. Seems like old desperate guys go the for a child wife only motivation and being someone’s bank not the retirement I want.
I am a new subscriber to your channel. You have awesome interviewing skills. Keep up the good work, brother 🙌 I’ve been in the Philippines for over 4 1/2 months now and loving every minute of it 🙌❤️🇵🇭
Paul has a great way of asking and answering questions that listeners/ watchers are thinking. A lot of relaxed wisdom.
I agree! He really gets to the heart of things.
I have been watching Paul since he started making videos.

For most men in the US, the best advice would be to cut your expenses and get a passport!
I absolutely agree!
