How Shakuni Got His Magical Dice?
Mahabharata war would not have been fought if it wasn’t for Shakuni and his game of Chausar. It was this game that made the Pandavas lose their kingdom, their wealth and eventually themselves and Draupadi as servants to Duryodhana. It was this game that led to Draupadi’s Vastraharan and all this because of one man and his magical tools, Shakuni and his magical dice.
While it is often understood that the Kauravas did not win the game of Chausar by fair means and that it was Shakuni’s dice that did the tricks to defeat the Pandavas, not many people know what was this magical dice all about? Where did Shakuni get it from?
After the death of all his relatives, Shakuni did as he was told by his father. He picked the bones of this father and created a pair of magical dice that would always obey him. This dice would later be instrumental in Shakuni's revenge plan.
The story begins before the marriage of Dhritarashtra, when he was just a Prince. When Gandhari was of marriageable age, her father the King of Gandhar also known as Gandhar Naresh, showed the horoscope of his daughter to better understand her future and prospects of marriage. It was later known that Gandhari had a Dosha (fault) in her horoscope and it indicated that her first husband would die, leaving her a widow. To avert this, on an astrologer’s advice, Gandhari was married to a goat. Later this goat was killed to fulfill the predictions of the horoscope and resolve the problem in her destiny. Upon this event, she was free to marry anyone of her choice and that would be considered her second marriage, thus saving the life of her real husband.
When Pitamah Bhishma brought Dritarashtra’s proposal for Gandhari, she readily accepted to be the wife of the Prince. Her father wanted her to reconsider her decision of marrying a blind man, but Gandhari was sure about her decision. Her youngest brother Shakuni was the one who was extremely unhappy with the match for two reasons. One being Dritarashtra’s blindness, and the other because Dritarashtra had been overlooked to become the King of Hastinapur due to his disability. Despite being the elder brother, his younger brother Pandu was given the throne of the kingdom. Although he expressed his disagreement in the decision, eventually the decion was Gandhari’s, so there was not much he could do.
Then he talked his way out of prison, became close to Duryodhana and started on his evil plan of revenge which included the destruction of Dhritrashtra's 100 sons to avenge the death of his family.
As interesting as this story may seem, this is not a part of Ved Vyas’s Mahabharata, but is found in many local and regional versions of Mahabharta.
In another version of this story, Shakuni’s dice was made up of Ivory. His dice were not magical, but it was Shakuni’s power of trickery and creating an illusion that enabled him to win the game of Chausar.

I think the video missed the entire details.
1. When the truth of first marriage was out, Didhrastra invited the family of Gandhari and locked them. They couldn't leave without permission coz of Dharma.
2. They were given only one morsel of rice which they decide to give to Shakuni since he was the cleverest one.
3. After the death of all brothers and father on deathbed asked Shakuni to revenge and gave his two fingers, which will always obey him. He broke his knee so he gets reminded every step to destroy Didhrastra.
4. Shakuni left the palace so he could perform his father's last rites which was a greater Dharma.
Thank you
You need to do some edits to the 2nd one, he wasn't only the cleverest one but also the smallest one
Gufi Paintal (Shakuni) was the casting director and he had a tough time choosing someone to play the evil 'mama' Shakuni. After several disappointing auditions the Chopras decided Gufi should be the one to portray the role since he had already established himself in a similar role in 'Bhahdur Shah Zafar'. Around the time of shooting, Gufi was about to undergo an operation to fix his hip, as he was walking with a slight limp on one leg. However Gufi decided against the operation and asked the makers if he could incorporate the limp in his character. They agreed, and we were given a sly, limping Shakuni with eerie background music to boot.
Thanks for this info… always thought that Shakuni had a limp…
Even Shakuni has its own side to destroy the pandavas.
To the story told to us by our ancestors shakuni was given a task by a Devta to cause conflict and hatred between the Kauravas and Pandavas to bring forth the great war the Mahabharata as a result as revenge for the death of his family. At first shakuni only tried to kill duryodhana but the Devta appeared and stopped him midway saying that Krishna's Leela involves in being duryodhana alive and that he can get his revenge by doing the thing as mentioned earlier.
@@meghabarnathiyam2833 WHOA!!! Everything is planned
Shakuni had a limp in wqlk because his father wanted to remind him in every step the sacrifice his family made to save shakuni. Interesting story indeed..

Lol no
Shakuni never limped

Shakuni is actually the associate of Kali of kaliyuga, not goddess Kaali. He is actually Dwapara helping Kali to take over the world.

Oh he definitely made those dice. The Mahabharata is about the end of the age of kings/knights because the karma got too high/big.
(Because they broke the laws of that yuga, which were knighthood/kingliness/etc. So disorder/entropy/chaos ensues.)
The kings in power were awful, and acted as they wanted to.
The second version of the story is like the “Disney version.” He was just using illusion and didn’t have weighted dice that he made himself in order to win this…… riiiiight.
First version seems to be right. I have read this version in a book.
"Magical" (loaded)! A renewed meaning to the exclamation, ,"Roll them bones!," which originated from the ancient times when knuckle bones were rolled instead of dice.
You posted this video on 4th October which incidentally is the Birthday of Gufi Paintal.. the original Shakuni Mama!
As per I heard, it was Doryodhana who killed 99 brothers of Sakuni in an Ice cage.

How to use dices showed on the picture??? Any video on this topic???

4:16 I got peace 🕊️ after listening this- It's not a part of Ved Vyas's Mahabharata.
(Hence take this video as entertainment, don't judge the characters of Mahabharat using this story)
The dice made from his father's must be original. I have't come accross any other version.
Lapis lazuli is famous gem from Afghanistan. .Star Plus's Mahabharata used it for Shakuni's jewellery. As he was from Gandhar.
Shakuni was the first hacker of a multiplayer game...

You certainly haven't heard of loaded dices. It's common in the gambling world which people must keep away from. The thrill of this story is to lure victims into gambling.
It's true that those dice were made up of his father's asthi who always listened to what his son shakuni told but never heard of this first marriage with goat and all
Please drop references too, this is not a real story but just oral tradition

First Hacker of the world: Shakuni
What is the base for your version Shakuni history? 🤔
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
There is an insect commonly found in india which is around 1.5” long, with a narrow body profile. In Bengal we call it “Ghurghuti”. This insect can not be made to lie with its belly up. Whatever you do, it will always roll over to be on its belly-down position. What I heard from my village elders is that Shakuni had this insect live inside the dice. In the game of Chausar, whenever Kauravas wanted a winning roll, they would always take Shakuni’s dice, in which Shakuni would insert the insect in correct position. When the dice is rolled, the insect will make the dice to roll till it itself comes to a belly down position, resulting the dice to show the required number on top.
Lord Krishna guessed this trick and called for a second match, where he brought another insect. Gurghuti is afraid of this insect, and goes into its defence mechanism of feigning dead when it smells the predator insect. Shakuni’s dice became unmagical in the presence of this insect. But Shakuni was able to cite technical ground and get the insect removed from the venue. Krishna objected but elders went with Shakuni’s logic.
Many village drama’s or folklores in Bangal has this version presented on stage.
Interesting and somewhat logical. What I wonder is were they changing the dice in the middle of the game again and again. And if they were how was shakuni inserting the insect in dice again and again without someone noticing.
Also can you share the common name of that insect...how can I search it in Google.
@@rishabhverma4735 The insect is Mole cricket (Gryllotalpa orientalis).

ivory is a type of bone, his fathers bone may be the kind of ivory? he must have needed some magic to get the dice to work. his ancestors may have taught or told him to become advanced in sorcery for revenge. the stories may both be true.
Create confusion 1st and then ask which version of confusion you like to believe
If something like this done to your family how will you not go mad with revenge 😭😭👿💀
I have heard that....
The magical dice were made from bones of jarasandha
जरासंध को तो भीम ने मारा था, और शकुनी से कोई रिलेशन भी नही था उसका
Jarasandh dies too late in the story. He has no connection with shakuni
Lol Jarasandha was 1st defeated by karna,so he was an alley of hastinapur later he was killed by bheema it has nothing to do with Shakuni dice game..
If everything is fair in love and war then shakuni is right as fuck
Basically, he was not from kaurav's aas well as not from pandavs
Dhristrashtra 100 sons death with duryodhana ??? Time 4:07
it was not just bones but also a house lizard in it . which helps to manipulate the dice .
so they were feed to the fishes at the death of shakuni

But if the entire family was imprisoned how did Shakuni made it to come out from the prison ??

He sweet talked his way out
after the death of his father he was released to do rituals for his father..so called 'pinda-dan'

@@VeerHindu777 nope but Rahul bro is true and then he tricked dhritarashtra to be his right hand 🤗

On a symbolic level, in the Mahabharata a game of rigged dices induces for Yudhishthira, type of dharmic man, the loss of his kingdom for the benefit of Duryodhana , the type of asuric man . In the Bible, in the last book called Apocalypse , appears a Beast and its number, the number of the Beast, and it is written that everyone in the world shall be forced to be marked by the number of the beast, if he has not received the seal of Divinity. If you take three dices, the maximum number possible is three times six, by which you win, it makes 666.May be there is a connection between Mahabharata and Apocalypse. Mahabharata ' story leads to Kurukshetra , Apocalypse's to Armaggedon .
@Vincent Menard WTF are you blabbering about??? And No it's not like that whatever you are trying to say
There are no magic there is always an explanation for everything. His dice might be made of magnet which he can control with a iron ring on his hand.
Nah!! you can't move the dice with the help of a magnet. It won't work properly.
people can do anything to defame kaurvas because krishna wasnt with them.... for me this game was fully fair,,... it was shakuni skills who let him help to win the game
So Shakuni also wanted to kill dhorhyodhan and his brother
Yup!
And he never wanted the bad of Pandavas
It's proof is that he never let Kauravas hit on them directly
These later FAKE stories do not deserve to be shared like this. They only create contradictions to people who haven't read the original EPIC of Ved Vyas. In the original epic, Shakuni is incredibly skilled in rolling the dice as he practiced perfecting his DICE SKILLS everyday in his dark room full of dead animals. There's no point in sharing anything that has no substance and originality.
Gossips are going to be their always and for eternity.
In the end of the video it's stated that it's not from Original ved vyas mahabharat
So it's not fake story just a version from another place
@@sumitkumarbaral876 It's a fake story. If you think this is a true story or of another version, you are saying the Ved Vyas Mahabharat is fake. Coz one of them has to be a fake. In Mahabharat, it's more than clear as to why Shakuni hates the Kuru clan and how he became so skilled in the game of dice.
If there's any other version than that, it's a fake. There's no point arguing over it. The main source has given all the background and reasonings behind what happened. Giving another version is just trying to change the original version, which any sane person shouldn't defend or accept.
@@kshitijthapa2205 that's not my point am saying it's not part of mahabharat rather it's completely different story
Offcourse Ved Vyas Mahabharat is Original
Yes .
And he made his dice with different weights at different points so he knew doing what would show what result ..
Heard that the dice was made from maharshi dadhichi's bones itself in one of the story I cam upon
why this shakuni looks like irfan pathan?
Shakuni did got is dice from his father's bone , in whole world shakuni loved his sister more than anything to be a perfect pair for dhruthrastra , ghandhari decides to cover her eyes and becomes blind inspite of eyesight
Dhruthrastra didn't accepted this proposal still he marries later but he doesn't treats hime well because she was promised to bore 100 sons to him
Seeing is sisters tortured by his husband shakuni always hated dhruthrastra later ghandhari gives birth to 100 boys and one girl
Before the birth of ghadhari children , pandava wife kunti bores 3 children with the blessings of gods in which his eldest son yudhistar is eldest one of whole chandravanshi making him as the true heir to kingdom
Seeing this shakuni decides that his nephew(duryodhana) has to become king by right so decides to kill Pandavas in several ways but fails at every stage , so he finally plots the idea of destroying pandavas by playing a game of dice which he got from his father's bone to take revenge on pandavas .
He never wanted the bad of Pandavas his only targets were Kauravas and he literally was the messenger of kaliyuga
There is no mention of magical dice in Mahabharat. These are all just later added story
If it's true then what Shakuni did was 100% right.
Yup! Some ballads state that he was the messenger of kaliyuga
@@bestguy123 previous yug not kaliyug!!!
This story is just a myth and NOT from the real Mahabharata Puranam. It’s always Best to retell from the Original

Correct! That is why it s mentioned in the end that this story is not a part of Ved Vyas's Mahabharat but is often heard in the regional versions of the epic.
Btw, this srory is fake. There is clear mentions of Shakuni's brothers taking part in Kurukshetra war. Also, In ved vyasa Mahabharata, it was said that Shakuni was proficient in the Dice game. Not that he cheated. Cheating was that Yudhisthira, who was like noob, played against Shakuni instead of duryodhana. This story of magical dice and prisoning the father and brother of Shakuni is just a folktale.
She told it in the end of the video🙂
@@mithooladley my mistake then ✌️🙏

Mam i Had A Doubt That The End Of Mahabharata Lord Krishna Thought Many such Mahabharatas will take place if a woman is not protected. But nowadays there are so many rape case are coming out for everyday . What is your opinion on this...?
See there is a reason this wasnt stated in ved vyasa mahabharata . No story bonafide from vedic scriptures should be accepted . All this story may seem interesting and titilating to mind .Vyasa deva didnt mention this for a reason. Shakuni was an instrument to destroy the kuru dynasty but he himself dies in the war ,but he loved kauravas .
Stop labelling Hinduism with mythology. It is not a myth that you would call it so. It is all true.
What is your source? Becuase there was nothing similar to a Dice during Mahabharat. The game was played with a very different method where they used to throw seeds of a tree(I have to look again for the name) in a small pithole.
