I commend him for using his platform to influence good versus glorifying the bad. You can always rap and send positive messages; that's the art of the industry and creativity!
Being more active and community events and servant leadership....when you serve others, you'll have a more rewarding message and then we can impact the lives of our generation today
I’m from Ensley from Central Park!!! These kids have to much free time!! My generation grew up playing p.i.n.g basket ball baseball… to keep the kids with something to do.. a lot of the little league parks get shut down and have to merge or even fold.. it was a grown up football league that the police started it lasted for about a year and now it’s non existent!!!! I know a lot of dude that’s all they talked about how that kept them out the streets!! It to much time on peoples hands and hand full of jobs!! So a lot of people run to the streets.. because there’s no love in the house hold.. like yavo said growing up where we from the parent worked all day my grandma worked 2 jobs from 6am till 11pm and the only love that made me came from the streets!! To much free time!!! I thank GOD for all the prayers and me praying for a better life and now I’m 36 years of age driving 18wheelers purchased me a home with wife and kids… and out the way… growing up all it take is 1 rotten apple to get around the ripe ones!!! That’s how it starts!!!#praying for my city 🙏🏾
I am extremely proud of you nephew for using your platform for this positiveness!! Thank you Mayor for blessing him with this opportunity! I pray for all of our children to live the lives our Almighty created them for! Together we can conquer our biggest challenges and get through any barrier put before us! Keep shining and being Blessed to be a Blessing!! You Are Greatness!! PERIOD! 😍🙏🏽🥰
My mom lineage is from Birmingham Alabama (I’m from Columbia South Carolina) I’m definitely going to be coming to Birmingham/jefferson county more !! I see y’all are doing a lot for black millennial/gen-Z in that region
I personally lost a first cousin to senseless gun violence in Birmingham (Demetrius Davis) & I feel the consequences are so light & minor there needs to be more sentencing. There’s no fright not even for murder! I’m so grateful I made it out & relocated to Orlando. Prayers for my city! #JusticeforFatFat
We so busy creating problems instead of solutions. The negativity is crazy. Hats off to both of you. We get so caught up with the messenger that we miss the message. What answers do YOU have for the violence in Birmingham? Me personally, I don't have the answers but at least these brothers are trying.
I feel we need more activities for our community. Hoover and places alike have way more activities than our communities. We need more attention on mental health around here. Better clean food. This looks like prison on the west side of Birmingham. This is not all on you Woodfin it’s on all of us. But we definitely are not in control of clean food being brought to our communities. No activities in our communities. No new businesses such as 5 star restaurants. Etc. I can keep going. But again you understand as we do that we need change and more prayers and actions
It's the pain in their hearts; we can't change it; it's a job for Jesus Christ; that's nothing not one human can fix! We can attempt to try; but we can only do so much!
As for the music aspect of it and this is hip-hop, across-the-board must promote positivity on the grassroots level no more streaming songs that talk about opps/ shooting other black men/calling black men the n-word etc. any video/song glorifying trap thug life does not get promoted or played on any radio station Promote song/ videos go viral that talk about positivity, uplifting, black men, being better, holistically, etc.
Yavo needs to learn how to talk when doing interviews. He's really not answering any questions. Bro really needs to learn how to conduct interviews, but I'm glad he's at least trying. Bro don't understand any of the questions, the interviewer is asking him. Like Pac said we don't need anymore rappers; we need more doctors, lawyers, and etc. we need more thinkers as a whole.
This is a disingenuous conversation. The mayor of Birmingham most recently was blaming firearms for the violence in the city. To date, there are no documented cases of a firearm killing anyone of its own volition. However, this rapper's music is the soundtrack for the violence we see in our cities. The urban entertainment culture is a malignat cancer. Gangsta rap has been encouraging violence and dysfunction for 30+ years. From NWA to this young Brother; they have all contributed to the current state of our communities. However, the mayor is not willing to call a spade a spade. By highlighting this artist and not questioning the message in his lyrics; Mayor Woodfin is just as much a part of the problem.
I’m not at all surprised by the negative comments. Yall judging this man based on how he “interviews” or the content/context of his music. Have you ever considered that YOU and people like you are the actual problem. I, personally don’t listen to his music, but I understand it. It’s his VOICE! His EXPERIENCE! His OUTLET! Yall completely missed the points made! He clearly stated that he didn’t have the “ideal in home” guidance that he felt he needed or longed for. But what he did have is the streets! Streets filled with people tryna fill the same voids as him. Instead of judging this man, figure out how you could individually fill in the gaps in someone’s life so they don’t have to experience what he had to experience growing up. Teach a child how to verbally express themselves. Teach a child how to process the feelings of neglect. Teach a child how to “be in this world and not of it”. Yall so quick to point the finger and say that’s the problem and in the same breath you’re too wrapped up in your own bubble to be part of the solution. Not everyone knows discernment! Open your hearts and not your mouthes for a better understanding! Yall weird af fr!
Guy is wearing a Scarface shirt, raps about Glock switches, talks like a child, and Birmingham's mayor thinks this will change the hearts and minds of the community? Damn Birmingham, you need a new mayor!!
This is part of the problem to me. Interviewing a rapper and they part of the influence. Listen to how uneducated he sounds and you expect the youth to listen to him SMH. Stop trying to use idiots to teach idiots.
I commend you because what people fail to understand is we are all works in progress no one wakes up at the finish line and we all are clay being sculpted by God #change ❤
@@214_tarot_4 Interview people that came from that life but truly have changed. You interviewing someone who still trying to be a fake thug. Get mature smart people who the youth can learn from.

This is what the streets need
Give the youth something to live for , when you don’t have anything to lose, you act a certain way

Did the mayor not do his due diligence and research this guy? Yavo does nothing for the community but tear the image of black males down.

Well what are you doing to get more of that?
This didn't age well considering 21 people were shot at HUSH club last night. Woodfin must go.

Who should they interview …..to change we must address the problem
