The dev was replying to someone asking if they would implement similar debris feature into LMU, I don't think it was taken out of context at all, it was directly in response to iRacing's debris update. In my opinion, the dev calling iRacing a scam and banning anyone in the discord that reacted to his comments with a salt emoji was immature and he should know better than to say such things about their competitor. It's not a good look. Loving this format of video, hope you keep it going.
The post on Reddit was just the screen shot with no other part of the conversation. Even so it's really weird to take snippets of things decontextulise them and then argue a single interpretation as if everyone is on the same page 😂. Also if a person has a beef with that Dev they should ask them or if they want to make an argument they should actually make a specific argument on specific points. I mean let's say X person was being a dick then you could just post the whole conversation and they would look even worse. Whole thing is just really weard cross arguing with no real point , it's somehow worse than one of my live streams 😂.
Crazy. I've been looking for proper debris in a driving sim for SO LONG. I've been playing since Live for Speed, no scratch that, Grand Prix Legends. Can't wait to see the update, along with the new new tyre model on the prototypes!
The lack of nuance and critical thinking in the sim racing community is insane. Something is either the best or the worst. For example, I've been complaining about some aspects of LMU's tyres forever, always met with disdain and disregard, now LMU's patch notes show they've made changes to those aspects. Can't wait for everyone who laughed at me to be all happy with the new changes and say it's the best thing ever. Like you said, maybe it's because sim racing's more popular and there are more weirdos around, but all I hope is that this brings healthy competition between all sims for them to improve.
It's the nature of it. Doesn't matter what your hobby and interest is, get into a community dedicated to it and you will find the same tribalism, hysteria and extremes. Generally speaking, it's a vocal minority though, I think a majority of folks canbsee the shades of grey for what they are and steer clear of the largely pointless black and white discussions and arguments. What gets me more than this silly stuff is the amount of general negativity in the hobby. Whether its software or hardware related, seems like folks lack appreciation for just how much good stuff we have access to in 2024. We're absolutely spoiled.
@@steveh4264 It's a shame that this behaviour is natural because I think no one wins anything, quite the opposite. Even if it's a minority, sadly it's the vocal one and this is what gets shared around. Negativity is as important as positivity if it is well directed, which is the part that usually fails. We are indeed spoiled compared to 10, 20 years ago, but I don't understand how with so many different options out there people are still so laser focused on defending what they like to a fault. I've started sim racing recently when arcade racing games became clunky and weird, only to find that simulators suffer from the same problem. By definition they should be really similar but instead are as different, if not more, than arcade games. Thankfully I've been able to play them all for a good amount of time, excluding iRacing but I did spend a few hours there too, and I know what each sim does good or bad and this allowed me to keep an open mind. Can't say the same for hardware sadly, but I'm sure the same logic applies there too. There will always be something to improve on, criticism is necessary to keep pushing companies to give us better products. As long as it's constructive, negativity can actively push a product to improve while positivity is usually interpreted as the product being flawless. It all comes down to nuance at the end of the day, I just wish the vocal people were more open minded is all.

This reminds me when I made a post on Steam. All I asked was if my CPU was enough for a game. Five minutes later I get my answer from some nice fellow. I thanked him and did not think about it more. Few days later I log on to Steam and see notifications. The thread about my CPU had turned into a full blown war😂 I mean the first guy gave me a clear answer but for some reason others started to argue with each other about other things. It was really entertaining to read. I have seen this happen in sim racing also. Somebody askes a simple question then it turns to "my sim is the best one" It is mental but entertaining.
its sad too because the sim racing world is really small and good games are super super rare and it sucks to see them fighting. LMU seems to be on the come up and iracing seems to be doing some real advanced stuff. No reason to fight.

Honestly as long as what I'm driving resembles a car with tyres I'm happy enough. I'm more concerned with decent online services, I'm always looking for the SIM that can replace iracing. Not because I dislike iracing, I like it a lot, more because I'd prefer not to have the bill that iracing generates. Plus, until a wheel actually slaps me in the forehead from a crash, none of them are realistic. Same argument I made about counter strikes Vs arma. Not with a wheel, obviously. So I don't really get the realism arguements, from my perspective.
It's crazy that basic ranked splits was not a normal thing even by 2020. To be fair to ages for even CS to get it and FIFA as well lol. SIM Devs are small so it's understandable but yah to "race" you need ranked splits of some kind.

The most baffling thing for me is the fact that the average fellow sin racer is probably somewhere on his way to middle age and to think that middle aged men are willing to go full on tribal mode to explain how the driving game they are playing is the most realistic is just wild!

We live in a golden age where game devs are more available and chatty than ever before, and people use it to fight for internet snark-points. Truly glorious.
I love sim racing but mostly run iracing sometimes assets corsa competition. The main reason is because games like aAmsterdam, rf2, ac original, raceroom is such a hassle to setup every time and get booted i don't even try anymore. Iracing and acc i can walk up to my PC and start a race in or within a minute
Agreed its gotten out of hand. So many false narratives lately. Dude but this happens with wheelbases also. You hear something about customer service then somehow the community then goes oh those wheelbases have bad ffb horrible wheelbases. When it was all about support. So now we are just seeing it with games/titles haha. Btw GM ams2 just did another little update and or patch for grip and ffb. You should check it out. Almost like after you posted a video about getting more grip they then some how did it themselves with some changes. Pretty cool.
The Covid sim-racing boom did iRacing and its customers a lot of favours. It was the first time that A LOT of pros started to provide a critique of many elements of the game. Thankfully iRacing, after years of ignoring many of its customers, started to listen. And there has definitely been a culture shift in iRacing development as a result since 2020.
Even before 6 months, it was openly known there's aspects of iRacing's model is off like tire temps, some pressure curves, and how it's lack of recovery feeling, etc, But we're talking about the same engine that models the flywheel inertia. iRacing is still the only place where you can consistently find racing outside of leagues. Nobody fucking cares if X feature is better over on Y game if you have to queue up with Xbox players or dick around in a server browser. (AC will always be my playground/ Wangan Midnight & Initial D Simulator) Long as all the LMP cars have the same deployment ability, it's really a minor issue from a competitive standpoint and yeah it needs to be fixed, but it's probably complicated for CS reasons involved with their older engine. Hence why they're building a bespoke game engine from the ground up.
Telling people in the mid 2000s, to mid 2010s that iRacing was frankly sub par in certain simulation aspects, led to invariably being called poor, stupid, arcade racer, etc. even if you had some first hand experience in cars around a track, you would get hit with "nuhu because look at all these NASCAR drivers praising it!". Even if the issues with iRacing were quite obvious. Like always driving under the limit. Because if you are driving one of those Spec Racer Ford's or that intro open wheeler that is super fun to drive and exists as a mod for Assetto Corsa... Forgot the name... Anyway, if you pressed the throttle a little too much you would go: uncontrollable slide into a wall, ball of flame, death, wife cheats on you and shoots your dog, death again. Like how are these the cars you would give young racers to cut their teeth in? Break their teeth more likely. Anyway, yeah. You mentioned that iRacing was not the end all be all and you had a bunch of sunk cost fallacies giving you a hard time. So to see some of these same people now talking about iRacing critically... Well... I don't want my comment to be removed by automod.
Oh yeah I can't even count the amount of discussions we got into about iRacing back in the mid 2000s. We knew the tyre model was flawed before it even launched and we were happy to tell each other about it.
Since we all here agree that AC1 is in first place, I’d say it’s funny to watch the other sims fight for who’s the best of the rest ;) /s …. Kinda. Truth is somewhere between AC and more slidey sims
there was plenty of criticism prior to the lockdown on iRacing IMO, so I think it's unfair to say there wasn't. Of course maybe the road racing side just didn't see it as they just typically ignore ovals & the other related genres regardless. I mean hell, Dale Jr called the early renditions of the NTM as if the tires were made of glass like 10 years ago on Twitter (and that's someone whos always been in iRacing's corner from literal day 0 & now on their management team)
Reddit is the best if you want to laugh and cry at the same time. The simracing stewards subreddit is the best, you just read 4-5 random comments and you know why we're at the darkest age of simracing.
I'll start by saying iRacing is my go to sim nowadays and I probably spend close to 20 hrs per week using it (a high % of my free time). However I wish they would sort out two things: 1) the contact physics - the slightest contact leads to major drama; and doesn't seem real to me; 2) the tyre model (needs no more explanation). Plenty of real world drivers say this and I personally think they should have fixed these ahead of debris etc (although I'm sure what they've done with debris will be amazing, much like the rain model). Anyway that's my opinion and it doesn't mean I'm correct.
This may upset the hardcore element, but most people don't care about tires. Most of us have never raced cars at iRacing speeds to know how tires react. What we do care about is clean, competitive racing. That is why Iracing is a success.
I feel like maybe it was just me but who knows. But it feels like at times iRacing was called ice racing because of the tire model. I remember trying emotion Sim with an MX5 in iRacing while at an IndyCar race. And the slippery tires was the same thing they may have needed time to warm up. I remember doing it again in 2022 at a micro center. And it was better and reminded me of the assetto Corsa F1 cars. particularly from RSS. I did it again in 2024 at the same micro center and did the lmdh cars and they reminded me of assetto Corsa and ams2. The tires should tell you what's going on and if the tires are just kind of there or on ice. Then it's an issue. The main reason I don't really go into IRacing those because there may be a time that I just want to disconnect from SIM racing for a while and I don't want to have to keep up a subscription or anything like that.
I once asked if I was alone in feeling disappointed in iRacing, I didn't add any context byond A) I was class D at the time and B) got it after taking part at a racing school. Man I haven't had insults thrown at me like that since middle school lamo.
I find it weird that people took that as a sign of war. If every sim racing game prioritized the same thing. It would all be so boring and id still be playing nascar craftsman truck series racing 😂😂😂😂😂😂 unless im missing something. I play different sim racers to see what their focus is on. Most importantly to have fun and improve.
People really are sheeple. Their ideas become an extension of their identity. Then when their ideas are challenged they experience a personal attack as if somehow challenging their ideas diminishes them personally. It is actually painful to have your deeply held beliefs challenged. I've realized that most people are not interested in the truth or reality. They just want to hold on to their dearly held ideas even if they are wrong. Its way easier to outsource your thinking to someone else than it is to actually use your own reason and critical faculties. Look at American politics. Suddenly now that one side has lost the amount of public figures flip flopping on a dime is incredible. If you are the one to shout the fact that the emperor has no clothes initially they want to crucify you. But it just takes a few people who have courage to break away from the sheeple. And in 6 months all the sheeple will have all changed their minds. Allot of people are not capable of independent thought. I'm watching the same pattern play out in all sorts of human interactions. Its as if people become fundamentalists and fanatics. All because they cant stand not being right or being wrong. Being wrong is fantastic news. Its a moment of true opportunity to make a change. If someone cant admit fault or wrong doing, there is nothing you can do for them. I remember when I first started online gaming with Unreal on a dial up modem(Yes I'm old). We had a serious online community in my country. I actually met many of those players in person and we developed many friendships. I'm not sure if it was after the introduction of FB or social media but I noticed after a long absence from online gaming that the scene suddenly became very toxic. One of the things I love about all of the other sims apart from iRacing is the fact that there is no real voice chat or limited text chat. We can just race and get on with racing. Back in the day I would've loved to have had a conversation with my fellow gamer. In 2024 I'm enjoying online racing without any conversation. Suites me perfectly.
You sometimes get on my nerves (and that’s on me, not you), but this is a great, well thought out, balanced view. I’ve also been sim racing since the early 2000s so seen most of the modern sims.
Yes people going crazy online over hypothetical scenarios and statements….Just another day… The only reason I go on forums is to find solutions to problems I’m faced with, who goes online to fight with random strangers? Everyone is welcome to their own opinions and it doesn’t effect me 1 iota.

After you’re on iRacing long enough, especially for oval, outside of a car or track here and there at 20% off my only cost is $82 for a year subscription every November.
Absolutely shocking that you are posting that comment as if it's some sort of positive that you're ONLY paying $82 per year to be allowed to play content you've already bought. And that $82 doesn't include any new tracks or cars 🤦♂️ How deluded to you have to be to think it was a good idea to post that?

Unless you're 1:1 (ie real world) then any sim is by nature limited by available resources, hence they are all good 'games' with some being much closer to an actual simulator than others. Is the compromise the devs have made acceptable to you? if yes then great if not then pick another..... me? I like Assetto Corsa, ACC and expect to like AC Evo...... but I also enjoy Gran Turismo and used to like Forza until "we've individually modelled each tree".....

in the end of the day, sim racing is not important. so its doesnt matter. LMU needs to stop talk about other video games and add historic stuff to their own. imagine gt40 vs ferrari vs porsche on historic tracks in a modern sim like LMU, that wold be reel cool.

I think a good shit post is great 👍 Manufacturing a totally garbled reality based on an out of context post is insane. Makes me believe more in dead internet theory.
Can't find my other comment, but I believe Forza, Gran Turismo, EA F1 are Sim arcade and the market for ture Sim racing titles is small. I believe that the developers who make Sim titles do it for the love, do it for the chanellage, do it because thiey like maths but didn't want to be accountants. Edit. F1 is bigger enough to have what EA does plus a licensed I-Racing game, and licenced stand-alone ture open-wheel sim game, things have came a long way since codemasters released F1 2010. Rally games will never be ture sim, to many variables. In I-Racing for example, it's called Formulae A, sim races don't need a career mode,.car upgrade, team building, thier want a Sim that closely resembles.the real cars with race ture car deliveries and a good online experience with everybody with equal cars, EA player want a team mode where cars can be upgraded over time, starting in a lower team and working up to a better team. Totally different.
At least we have competition and different developers. Other sports are stuck with EA and cant have a licensed game made buy anyone but them or 2K. Those games havent developed since 2009. You still cant pass the puck in open space in the NHL game in the year 2024. Thats not exactly a ground breaking feature to put in a hockey game......Also right now, you cant criticize AMS2, but the sudden loss of grip is much worse in that game for me right now.
They are people with jobs who work in sim racing. There aren't that many to go round. LMU and rF2 are both excellent games. All of that makes me think that working for S397 (and therefore MSG) is a reasonable thing to do. What MSG get up to is a mystery to me. But the two sims still seem to be going, so I've stopped worrying about it.

have you seen the other comments the dev made in the discord? he is clearly taking shots at the iracing devs and takes shots at the community. that one comment about the context makes no sense when you actually look at the context and it very much was what the rest of the people in that thread were calling out the dev for. cant just find the one post that agrees with your viewpoint, treat it like gospel and call everyone else crazy and wrong. i replied to that comment and their response showed that they are not an unbiased truth teller.
I agree you can't just find the one post that agrees with your view point and treat it like gospel and call everyone crazy and wrong , that's not what this video is about , I personally don't necessarily 100% agree with that comment either. The video is not really even about the specific content of what the developer was saying or not saying The point is 1) taking something from one context to another with no real context as it partains to the specific issue 2) magnifying it without posting linking or discussing full context 3) inferring a whole bunch of things and purposely mischacterising something in the most disingenuous way possible 4) thinking a single person from dev team represents the whole Dev team 5) taking a single Devs comments to mean some overarching narrative 6) taking the most disingenuous view of a comment / comments to then use it to bate negativity Ironically I think people could actually have a good productive conversation about MSG or things they like and dislike , about how much developers should communicate or whole bunch of things.
Look, the simracing hobby cannot keep growing at the same rate. The player base is not enough to sustain all the hardware companies and all simulation games. There will be a lot of hatred the next year or two, as everyone tries to survive.

Mate are u saying iRacing is now getting input from the RFactor model and therefore despite the 1.6 AMS2 update, the sliding is going to be even more sliddy because its all relative, and therefore Rieza should consider just buying LMU and take the RFactor model and place it into AMS2, even though the dynamic range will still not be on par with AC, because Max has said AC is the best and George is a liar. Talking of another George, a GT3 driver, he swears by ACCs dynamic range, and one mans boredom is another mans happy place he subscribes too, and talking of subscriptions are iRacing now bringing all these updates because of the pressure from AC EVO, even though its no threat because it plays like AMS2 i.e. a simcade designed to inflate your ego. Talking of ego, when are codemaster going to move away from the EGO engine, its old and doesn't look right and maybe EA and RIEZA should both going into a bidding war for LMU....... and breath lol This is the constant spaghetti of thoughts flowing through our heads
It is somewhat ironic that the people accusing the dev to have “iRacing to live rent free in their head” jumped to the conclusion that this dev was talking about iRacing and basically have “iRacing” live rent free in their head 😂

There's a general shortage of thinking for yourself which has been creeping in over the last 20+ years. I blame schools and parents.
I blame euro truck Sims lack of enforcement of correct wheel rotation to be honest.

Well my SIM is the best one and your CPU sucks so take that !

Stopped going to r/simracing now, I tried to pop my head in every now and then and help people out, but now you get one word wrong and a whole army will descend on you.
Same here. I like helping people as Simracing might be overwhelming, especially in the beginning, but the number of d-bags ready to offend you on every matter just bc they don't agree with a single part of your reply is shocking. Waste of my nerves
yep i had (and still have ) a UA-cam channel about simracing and VR and lots of other things , every video i made there where people telling me what i was doing wrong and how big a idiot i am.... I just made them for FUN its not to be taken seriously. So i stopped making videos ...because for me its just fun and not a income.
@channelvr1293 it just sucks man 🥺...don't let others ruin the fun for you, although I know it can get overwhelming. Sad that we all share the same passion but it seems like many people just try to put you down whenever they can
Honestly as long as what I'm driving resembles a car with tyres I'm happy enough.

Motorsports games calling anyone a scam is the pot calling the kettle black.
All those guys do is buy licences to bilk investors, then never actually release a product.
Chances are they are in the middle of an exit scam as we speak, They will 100% go bankrupt before they leave"early development".
If IRacing customers where as critical of the product they are paying for as the LMU dev, maybe the product would be as good as they think it is.
The "out of context" thing is the worst.
And when those two kinds of people - the ones that post that one quote without context from another source, and the ones who read and judge that quote without any interest in or knowledge of the context - come together, shit hits the fan.
As a result, everybody is upset and smells yucky for just... nothing but "internet stuff".
Hey GM, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the new discussion videos. I've enjoyed all your other videos as well but I also appreciate variety. Cheers
The most baffling thing for me is the fact that the average fellow sin racer is probably somewhere on his way to middle age and to think that middle aged men are willing to go full on tribal mode to explain how the driving game they are playing is the most realistic is just wild!
I mean, you can easily call ppl as "fanboy". In my opinion you are the part of the problem, you talkin about as well. I like some of your content and I'm having fun, and sometimes I just think, why are you so toxic?

Ironic thing to post on a video talking about how tribalism ruins discourse.
weird, that's not my iracing experience.
A Amsterdam I'd play that !
Yah the setting up is a huge problem
Agreed its gotten out of hand. So many false narratives lately. Dude but this happens with wheelbases also. You hear something about customer service then somehow the community then goes oh those wheelbases have bad ffb horrible wheelbases. When it was all about support. So now we are just seeing it with games/titles haha.
Btw GM ams2 just did another little update and or patch for grip and ffb. You should check it out. Almost like after you posted a video about getting more grip they then some how did it themselves with some changes. Pretty cool.
It will get worse and worse until the market stabilizes. Everybody fighting over quite a small pie. Both in hardware and in software market
(AC will always be my playground/ Wangan Midnight & Initial D Simulator)
Long as all the LMP cars have the same deployment ability, it's really a minor issue from a competitive standpoint and yeah it needs to be fixed, but it's probably complicated for CS reasons involved with their older engine.
Hence why they're building a bespoke game engine from the ground up.
We live in the GOLDEN AGE OF SIMRACING!
GOLDEN AGE !
@@GamerMuscleVideos GOLDEN COMMENT!
man ya keep releasing opinion videos and I keep agreeing with you. Straight up down to earth stuff! (all hail confirmation bias;)
Basically, 95% of the internet in 2024.
So you are telling me the most vocal individuals on reddit are suffering from brain rot? Telling me something I don't know.
Since we all here agree that AC1 is in first place, I’d say it’s funny to watch the other sims fight for who’s the best of the rest ;)
Why can't we just like instead of hate and stop bothering those who don't like? Sim or not, they are just game...

It's no wonder Stefano Casillo left sim racing years ago.

have you seen the other comments the dev made in the discord? he is clearly taking shots at the iracing devs and takes shots at the community. that one comment about the context makes no sense when you actually look at the context and it very much was what the rest of the people in that thread were calling out the dev for. cant just find the one post that agrees with your viewpoint, treat it like gospel and call everyone else crazy and wrong. i replied to that comment and their response showed that they are not an unbiased truth teller.
I agree you can't just find the one post that agrees with your view point and treat it like gospel and call everyone crazy and wrong , that's not what this video is about , I personally don't necessarily 100% agree with that comment either.
The video is not really even about the specific content of what the developer was saying or not saying
The point is
1) taking something from one context to another with no real context as it partains to the specific issue
2) magnifying it without posting linking or discussing full context
3) inferring a whole bunch of things and purposely mischacterising something in the most disingenuous way possible
4) thinking a single person from dev team represents the whole Dev team
5) taking a single Devs comments to mean some overarching narrative
6) taking the most disingenuous view of a comment / comments to then use it to bate negativity
Ironically I think people could actually have a good productive conversation about MSG or things they like and dislike , about how much developers should communicate or whole bunch of things.
Look, the simracing hobby cannot keep growing at the same rate. The player base is not enough to sustain all the hardware companies and all simulation games. There will be a lot of hatred the next year or two, as everyone tries to survive.
Where is the rant about LMU?
You are in the real world physical space? I’m not sure about that. My money is on AI muscle.
Honest question - are you trying to theme your channel to look like Tim Pool ?
Lol people are obsessed with me wearing a hat indoors.
As a bald git my head temperature goes up and down so I often put a hat on as it's comfortable also wearing hat on head means it's in a handy place.
Sometimes I wear a hat sometimes I don't lol I even sleep with a hat on sometimes.
I'm pretty ambivalent as to how it looks but it definitely can be handy for framing with some shots as a bald head can be hard to see where face starts and ends and cropping top of head with bald people can look a bit off 🤣.

Funny thing is that iracers told everybody else how realistic theyr tires were and tougth that rf2 tires were fundamentally flawed (they arent perfect off course) and now they hire people from rf2 to fix iracings tires...
Real time tires are really hard and then having things work on a specific platform and with all content is also really hard !
