Caleb, you're an exceptional film maker. Congrats to both you and everyone who participated in making this film. You should all be extremely proud. *Keep them coming!* ❤
Aw thanks so much. That really touches me :) I appreciate the love
Patiently waiting for a full length feature from director Caleb. This was amazing man. Made me laugh out loud and those match cuts between black and white were wonderful. Keep making these passion projects!
Aw dude. Way too nice! Thanks so so so so much 🥰🥰🥰
Welcome to the channel Bad Flatulence.
finally a short film to tear me away from the new Zelda
Aw nice! Glad I can help for 12min lol
A tragedy and comedy all in one... ::chefs kiss::
🧑🍳💋
Break ups are shit… I love this 🤣🤣🤣
They are!! Glad you like it :)
EVERYONE WAKE UP GRAINYDAYS AND BADFLASHES POSTED.
😴🥳🥰
@@BadFlashes another exceptional video 👍
This is just beautiful man! Keep up the great work and we’ll keep supporting you
Aw thanks. That means a ton! I’m glad you like it.
Beautiful. The Double X and Vision3 look great, and used thematically, too! So inspiring
Aw thanks so much!
@@BadFlashes I like the way you used Black and White, and then the shift back to colour... It kinda gives the effect of "Pleasantville" (1998) and then the "Kubrick" inspiration of a spinning fan. Such a simple element, but so hard to get right thematically to make the point... It's the detail orientation, not the budget that makes good film. Such a simple concept also:
"The pain of getting analog technology working in the twenty first century"
It's pretty much untouched... And all of that for I guess what would lead into something like John Wick.... What if that was the last message from your wife or something? It plays the harp strings of life... I did English literature studies as a minor in my undergraduate because I was bored and wanted to sit around basically talking shit.... But it does teach you a lot about literature analysis and "meaning making" which is also so important in the movie industry also.
This was Fantastic!! I enjoyed every second of it... lOVE THAT Kodak!!!
Ahhhh thanks so much 😍😍😍😍😍
What a Wonderfull and entertaining movie . loved it very much
🥳🥳🥳 thanks 🙏🏼
Loved it, Caleb. I hope to see more content like this on your channel. Well done, sir.
Aw thanks. Me toooo
What a delightful change of pace! It's great!
Aw thanks. I’m so glad :)
Love the look of those LUTs! So film-like.
Haha you know it.
That. Was. Genius. Thank you for bringing a ridiculously bright ray of sunshine into my day. I'm not saying my day was dark, far from it. But this just boosted it to the max. Brilliant. That payoff/twist, whatever, that's Einstein level thinking.
Haha I’m so glad it brightened you already awesome day 🥳🥰🚀
Love the color BW transitions, and ... best ending ever!
Awesome so so glad :)
I am so entertained. Did not see that coming. Well done 👏
Aw thanks I’m so glad! 🙌🏼🥰
This was great. Congrats, man! Very well done.
Thanks so so much 😍🚀🍕🥳
Amazing work dude. You're a massive inspiration to me.
Ah thanks 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the stuff
This was absolutely incredible Caleb! An absolute masterpiece! Hope we get soon!
Wow such kind works :) thanks so much
This is incredible, the cinematography is spot on, soo beautiful! I was on the verge of tears and boom, the twist! Simply amazing, congrats! Cheers from Brasil :)
Awww thanks so much! I’m really glad you liked it. I love that I can connect in that way 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Wow! Really great short Caleb! You are very talented. It was nice to meet you at that brewery in Chicago recently and I enjoyed our chat about your other film Bad Egg. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the love on this vid and the channel!!! I So enjoy meeting people at events like we had in Chicago 🚀
Amazingly done Caleb!
Oh wow. Thanks 😊
My son-he’s 11. And you just cracked his shit UP!
Haha nice. Best compliment ever
Great work, I think you linked to it a few months ago and I clicked through. Love it!
Glad you still dig it :)
Really enjoyed this! Well done :)
Yay 😁 !!!!!!!!
Wow so much to love in this…
I thought it was going a bit The Sixth Sense (I mean that as a compliment), then the twist had me laughing at nights I’ve lain awake wanting to record my husband’s snoring!!
I could have sworn that was Jason selling the My First Sony, but not credited, unlike George Lucas 😉
Masterpiece, thank you for sharing it.
Haha I should have had him sell it 🤪
Glad you enjoyed
@@BadFlashes I assumed that George blackballed him 😂
I loved the transitions from color to b&w that's such a great idea!
Ah nice. Thanks so much!!!!!
This turned out amazing!! Cant believe this doesnt have more views fr
Awww thanks so much. I’m so glad you liked it :)
Really entertaining and loved the use of film stock choices as visual cues.
Oh yay so excited
I love this dude. Also love seeing you venture into this type of video. Keep it up friend!
Dude, thanks so much!!! I definitely love doing it
Great short film, some visual rad shots, the skateboard wheel spinning was sickkk #chefskiss
Ahhhhh thanks yooooo
Well that was unexpected.
Hahaha good :)
Wonderful Caleb ♥
Thanks 😍
Maybe next one I’ll shoot some on your y16 😛
Honestly? Masterpiece.
🥰🥰🥰🥰 thanks 🙏🏼
Oh man I love this
🥰🥰🥰
Loved the twist 😊
Thanks :)
Not gonna lie, I expected to get rickrolled, but this is somehow better.
I am always reluctant to watch a short film on youtube, but i was more than pleasantly surprised, I had a great time!
Oh yay. So happy you enjoyed it :)
Nice work Caleb!
😛 thanks 🙏🏼
This reminds me back in college when I help friends who major in filmmaking shoot their final projects.
Those days were fun!
Very clever, well done!
Aw yhanks
Thanks 😊
Soooo well done 🎉
Awww thanks 🥰
@@BadFlashes Man really! You inspired me to start shooting short films on super 8🙏🏼🤙🏼
Oh awesome. I’m so glad 🙂
That’s so bad asss … happy to help 🫰🏼
This is so great!! Very cool! Hope you're doing well!
A thanks dude! So glad you liked it :)
Hope you’re still killing it. :)
Can´t get more caleb than this... 😂 Genius!
Hahaha ain’t that the truth :)
Thats hilarious. I didn't expect that. Nice one.
Ah thanks so glad you enjoyed it
I enjoyed it....
But I guess I"m a bit slow today....I was with you till the end...and well, not sure what happened at the end....?
I did, however, really enjoy the camera work....and the transitions were fun!
Also, is there a special setting on your old 16mm camera to get those slow motion shots like at the beginning?
Aw thanks so much. Maybe someday I’ll do a commentary to help explain the ending a bit but I like people to drive their own meeting from what it is. 😝🥰
Looks like Caleb is open to interpretations, so here's my guess. The farting sound is really interference from the power lines. But he smashes the tape and never finds out what the girl actally said.
Hahaha love that!!!!!!
Wait, what 😂 Loved it !!!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great short, did the flier for the van say Dodge Caravan, and the actual van a Toyota?
😝😝😝maybe
This is what it feels like when you fall in love with some thing, doing a lot of stuff to get the most of it, spending your energy and money on it, but what you get in the end is just a fart noises
Haha that’s the way it goes sometimes
Wow... this gives me feelings I did not know I had.
I’m glad :)
Yep, can't say I blame her for dumping his crazy ass, lol. Great work, next time hopefully it won't take me so long to finally watch. Keep it up!
Oh thanks! I’m glad you liked it :)
This is really great. I dream of one day directing a directing a short film entirely on Ektachrome so that I can project it. This has really inspired me, good work Caleb.
Wonderful. I believe in you!!!!!!!
Saw your IG post about how this is getting less traffic, but I hope that won’t distract you from posting more artistic work at least every once in a while. Your gear and film reviews are well made and fun, but imo youtube would be so much cooler if it were made up of more stuff like this over content that feeds the algorithm. Keep going man, you’re great 🙌
Aw thanks. I’m glad you liked it. I’m definitely not discouraged about … the only problem is I have no more shorts to post… maybe I have to get working lol 😆
Thanks for the love
@@BadFlashes I know it takes forever to make a short. Look forward to the next one whenever it happens!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was great beautiful and hilarious. You got more???
I wish. I don’t have anything as of now :)
I’m so happy you like it tho!!!!
Lovely film, but I do have 2 remarks:
1/ that is NOT a Maxell XLII tape in the case
2/ he says "how do I even play this", then pulls a drawer open which has... a cassette tape in it 🙂
I'll forego to comment the general availability of (bad) cassette players in every electronics store in 2023.
Fair point lol
I saw that as well.
Holy motion
🚂 choo chooo
The real OGs are already familiar with this… hehe…
Indeed 🥰
Hahahaha loved this 😂
Yayayayaayy
Lovely color palette, a very pretty film. Glad I'm not an idiot trying to date, though.
😜
That's an end i didn't expect for sure 😂
🤪😜😝
The next Spielberg!...🎥
I’d die to be lol 😂
@@BadFlashes Keep up the good work!
I’m interested in the production notes. How everything was shot. Light meters , f stops… etc. . Thanks! 😀
Maybe someday I’ll break it down :)
Was waiting for Jason to show up.......
Sorry to disappoint
😂😂😂
Nothing more millennial than buying a whole car to get a tape deck 😂
Lovely work their Caleb. And Jason for the uncredited role as ‘the cassette’, heheh #barbequemeatswears
haha truly!
Did you upload this in 4K and it just hasn’t rendered yet or did you upload in 1080p? You really wanna upload stuff shot on film in 4K even if it was scanned and mastered at 2K because the UA-cam compromise will just rip through the grain.
Yeah I didn’t think about that when doing it. But you’re right…. Maybe force the 1080 quality
did i hear grainydays? 😂
Hahaha maybe
Please tell me there is a making of coming! *.*
I wish I had one …. I will for my next short
So I noticed this is on imdb and you have almost 100 credits there? /Me thinking being subscribed to some guy making videos from his back room 🙂
Hahaha 😝
I’m a bit more than a back room dweller lol
@@BadFlashes
Lol, you have credits for Lucifer, Heros Reborn, 12 Monkeys and Doctor Who?!
At least I would be interested in a video about your job
If only I could 😝
Well that was completely different
I like to keep people guessing
Which lab did you process and scan on? And what resolution?
Fotokem, my buddy scanned, 2k
@@BadFlashes do you know what scanner? spirit? filmfabriek? Cintel?
I honestly forgot :/
When did Caleb have time to do all this?😮
Two years ago lol 😂
I wondered if its possible to develop 16mm film by self and scan.
Kinda??? It’s hard tho for sure.
Get us a vimeo link, I beg!
Why did grain simply not purchase yet another piece of outdated technology on ebay to play the tape?
Needd that day haha
Hello Caleb, what's it like to spend just about $300 just on film to get 10minutes worth of footage in 4k? Most of us don't because the cost of entry point to even get to where you can record this, and not stuff it up, on film is a larger budget than what the vast majority of us have 🤣 Oh it hurts.... 😌
