It’s because the government wants social media to pay Canadian outlets to use their stories. Social media refused so they don’t get to use them.

So various movies and tv shows which get subsidies in the form of tax credits from the Canadian (and provincial) governments, it won't be enough to be considered canadian content.

Wow he’s changed his tune (literally). In 2015 when Bryan Adams was hosting the Canadian music awards he called the Trudeaus, who were sitting in the audience, up on stage. He introduced Justin and Sophie as the “hottest couple in politics”. As though they were some sort of comparison to JFK and Jackie. I wanted to vomit.
Just more of my tax money spent on content I don’t watch and censoring stuff I do. CBC costs us 1.4 billion a year to fund, god only knows how much this is costing. Meanwhile I can’t even buy a house for under 800k.

For once I agree with Trudeau, as a Canadian film producer, I am subject to strict requirements in order to qualify a movie as Canadian Content. The ownership and key creatives are critical to this calculation. This report from NP is very very misleading and border line false reporting. Shame on NP.

@@shawnpitman876 The entire piece is filled with untrue facts. A Canadian Content production must meet a minimum of 6/10 points on the KEY creatives scale. So you can have a lead performer who is not Canadian, as a lead performer counts for one point. Also, the graphic that they put up says the movie has to be shot in Canada. That is false, I made two movies in South Africa,. and they are both classified as Canadian Content because they are both official treaty co pro productions. Canada has signed treaty co pro agreements with over 50 nations. Do you want me to continue. I would recommend you not challenge me on this subject, I am an expert on this topic I make Canadian content films for a living. How many movies have you made that qualify for Canadian content status on the CAVCO scale?
