I'm a genXer who's been following the modular scene since the early days of euro. I watched the original RYK-video 13 years ago in awe. It's potentially the most musical sequencing concept ever made. A modern classic. I have literally dozens of RYK-ish max projects. This one is right up there with the best of them. Good job!
AMAZING will turn them all 4 devices tomorrow day up - and will try all sorts of different possibilities and what they can produce, love pitch quantizer and bucket delay WOW man. UA-cam suggested this video to me, since I'm watching a lot of max for live videos :) glad that it did. Much Obliged !
Thanks @alex K! If you're willing to share I'd love to see it. Can you drop a line through my site and I'll follow up directly via email? secretadmiral.com/contact/
damed these guy nailed it simple cool .. but cant get my thoughts hold lback.sry.. . quantize control over the groove realtime plus probaility function and the range option for the other types Count ,Mode so you can place 2 or more options and choose over the range x y over 2 dimensional what is acessable would be cool ...nice tool.. ....thx... p.s. Push Matrix could control it...8x8 any link who does this...
I designed the sequencer but not the synth. I'd love to take take claim for the Sirin, but it's made by Moog. It's excellent - check the Moog website for more info.
Sorry about that! I've had some issues with Bit.ly links in the descriptions. If that link isn't work here is the link directly to my site: secretadmiral.com/product/catena-sequencer/
@J. Fogleman This is great If this had a direction capability for the sequencer ie random, backwards, ping pong etc. It would be the only sequencer id ever need. Please tell me this will be in a future update. Either way good work :)
Hi J. Fogelman, this is great! I’m searching for a device kind of this but imagine instead of the pitch quantizer after, we could be changing the notes in teal time by midi input, and interact the rhythmic cells by inputing data from grid controllers and controlling the polyrhythms from each note line from there too, but the notes, will always being input by midi keyboard and only play when there are midi data coming from keyboard. A kind of arpegiator but with a modular approach. Did you know something like this or is it easy to adapt something this way? Thanks.
Man - good question. I'm not sure of a device that does exactly that. But, two thoughts come to mind. First, check out one of my other videos using a different sequencer: ua-cam.com/video/7zL8HixmRW4/v-deo.html Similar idea but not quite the same as you're describing. Second, you can send me a note through my website (secretadmiral.com/contact-us/). I'd be happy to talk more about the idea and see if it's something that either exists or could be built in Max. Hope that helps!
I forgot the Grandmother had built in reverb - that thing is impressive. The Sirin is great, too. Not as many features as the Grandmother but the software interface is really, really nice! Oh yeah, and it sounds awesome, of course.
this is a game changer!!! So aside from the 185 is there anything else you took inspiration from maybe even other max patches out there in a similar realm?
Thank you! There are other great max patches out there that mirror the 185 but they all had something that I wished worked a little differently. I tried to capture all the little design and interface improvements to make this one unique. I’m working on an update that adds a few more features. Hope you enjoy it!
Good sequencer, thanks!

Thank you! Kind words from an experienced expert! I’m working on an update to this and another sequencer as well. Stay tuned!
been learning to work with arps and sequencers lately and your channel is a goldmine of advice!
Thank you!
This Max for Live device is seriously incredible. 10/10 would recommend.
Thank you so much!! Feel free to share it!

Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. I’m working on a few new ones. Keep an eye out for new devices soon!
Thank you for the device and the link. That looks very, very good!
Thanks! Glad you like it! Feel free to share any feedback as you use it.
Amazing! Been into modular for a while but hadn't messed with Max until this month. Opening up so many rabbitholes I should've started with haha
Exactly! Max is an awesome way to open up ideas with desktop or modular synths.
Super fun to use. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
fantastic. One suggestion (of course) is a sequencer reset trigger. Thank you for implementing the pitches the way you did
Thanks! Absolutely - a reset option for the sequencer is on the list of updates for the next version I’m working on. Thanks for the feedback!!
@@JFogleman I added a total step count that sometimes helps even out and take a sequence. Can send it over

@@JFogleman nice will do! i also added a midi in to transpose the outs. gimme a sec
pretty awesome lil device!
Thanks!!

any link who does this...
Anyone knows good drum sequencer ?
Will this work with Ableton Push controller?
Great question. I don't have a push controller so I'm not able to check. I welcome feedback from anyone who tried it with one though.
This seems very cool. What in the device is midi mappable? Could I, say, map the spacings in the count to the midi buttons of a launchpad?
I believe everything except the pitch control is midi mappable. Working on that for an update : )
@@JFogleman That sounds amazing, convinced!
Great demo of a nice lil sequencer. Where does one download the Sirin synth? I can’t seem to find it.

@@JFogleman oh, that’s what I meant. I don’t see it on the Moog site. :-/
Oh, I see. Yeah, hard to find on their site. Either google it or search “sirin” on the Moog site. Not sure if it’s still in production.
is this still available ? the link doesn't seem to have a download section ? thanks

Thank you!! Absolutely. I'm slowly chipping away at the next version. Sequencer direction and a few other added features are on the list to add.
@@JFogleman Be cool too if you could sum the Counts and present that number somewhere on the panel we can see how long a sequence is.. Cheers 👍

I prefer the sound of a Grandmother (s p r i n g r e v e r b) but SIRIN DAW integration is immense. Might just pull the trigger one soon

Why whisper when you have that annoyingly loud synth muzak?
