Hello Hello Hello!!! This is Episode 2 and we’re gonna be exploring the lives of the local ‘Mising’ tribe here in Majuli!
The Mising are Tibeto-Burmans who have been living here for centuries and are known for their unique culture, traditions and crafts.
Tradition Mising houses are made in a way to keep safe from the floods that happen here often. These floods have caused around 70% of the island to be washed off.. this is why Majuli is known as the disappearing island.
We took a tour to the largest Mising village in Assam. Here I learnt a lot about the culture, architecture and history of the tribals! I also devoured the yummiest Assamese food and Apong made by the locals while laughing and sharing stories💜
I really wanted my experience to be tailor-made and authentic and ChaloHoppo made sure all my needs were met.
Finally we visited the Berry Island for a beautiful traditional dance performance by the Mising people and that brings us to the end of Episode 2.
