This M.C. Toy Ferrari 250 GTO needed saving. Nothing much was particularly wrong with it except for that horrific shade of pink it was wearing. The faded neon look did not lend itself well to the classic Ferrari. I took an opportunity to compare two sets of 3D printed wire wheels with this video to see how different producers stacked up. I had a set from Diecast Dreams Custom Parts and another set from Creative One 64 with viewers voting for their favoured wheels.
The 250 GTO that this casting is based on is now a collectors item. But that wasn't always the case. A minimalist racing car from 1962 to 1964, by 1969 it was obsolete and values had crashed to $2,000 US from their original sale price of $18,500. The second most expensive car ever sold was a 250 GTO and that was for $70 million in 2018.
Between 1962 and 1964, the 250 GTO was the dominant GT car. It won its class at Le Mans each of those years and helped Ferrari win the Manufacturer's Trophy for GT constructors. Just 36 of these magnificent beasts were built and have gone on to become the ultimate icon of Ferrari's illustrious history.

That is a stunning transformation.
Really beautiful transformation Jason - couldn’t fault it
Nice one Jason.
G.T.O. - Great Turn Out. Looks superb.
Keep er lit ya boy ye.
looking good in red, yes? ;) that pink could have been a colour-change paint, I seem to remember seeing some in really funky colours. but the pigments eventually die from too much sunlight.
not sure about the wheels, but to me the more filigreed, the better. I wonder if replacement tyres for slotcars (AFX, older Carrera 160, and the like) would fit those rims? might be too thick, though.
I don't know much more about MC Toys, only that they got rebranded to Maisto eventually, and have had some more rebrandings since then, but with different wheels. I suspect that they started out casting for Matchbox before the production got moved again, and then came up with their own line of models. it might fall into the same time when MB lost all moving parts, come to think of it...
That's some top-shelf detailing job!
The Ferrari 250 GTO is the perfect blend of elegance and aggression. 😍
That's one of your best customs Jason, the chrome highlights really make it pop. Personally I prefer the Diecast Dreams wheels.
I think the Diecast Dreams fill the wheel well arch better. I am very impressed with how good this model looks after your restored it. You have truly transformed this from a toy to a true replica. Thanks for sharing this.
another fire resto!! looks great! love the content my friend!!!!
That casting is really nice….so many cool little things to detail. You detailed them well and it elevated the quality of this car about 1000% 😁.
Also, I liked both sets of wheels. If pressed, I would choose the Diecast Dreams over the One 64, but only slightly.
Great comparison video. Would like to see more of these!
AWSOME RESTORATION!
Congrats Jason,
You beat me as I am restoring the same model, mine is primed at the moment 😊
Très belle restauration!
Beau travail réalisé sur cette petite Ferrari, le détail est là et la passion aussi visiblement! 🙂👍
i have the same model, also pink...thought it was the sun but appearantly it isnt
Love the detailing you’ve done on this. Makes me want to pull mine resto apart and add a few more 😎
The second set looks better. Great build.
Great video as always.. I prefer the first set of wheels, creative 64 personally..
1st set of wheel
Beautiful work just wish the wire wheels looked chrome
Another great restoration is always there my friend I prefer the second set of wheels it looks much better have a good one and God bless my friend say hi to your dad for us
Beautiful work on the GTO. I like the Diecast Dreams wheels.
Thank you for the video.
Love lt detailing and commentary 👍 Die cast dreams wheels for me
Love the slightly larger wheels - could lower it a touch, too? Great job.
Great job 👍🏻
Maisto and Yatming: Great castings, mediocre everything else. Perfect for customs. This came out wonderful! A shame most modern Maisto models have no interiors and solid black windows. And Yatming doesn't even do 1/64 stuff anymore.
Very nice!
Nice restoration ,details and paint job 👌 👍
Looks like a million dollars, Jason! or rather, 70.
I like the new color and details. Good job. Congratulations
Larger tires look better, leave less space in the wheelwells. Nice resto.
I like the Diecast Dreams Wheels better. Not even close, actually.
Dorcas dream wheels are a better scale. Colour and trim are great.
Unico grande amore ❤
🤗👍👌👏
Full watch and share .

Tires 🛞 are cool 😎.
Your finish is amazing.
SOO KOOOOLLLL
