    I hate that people have made you feel like you should justify what you spend your money on!! It's your money, it's your choice! If I earned a decent wage, damn straight I'd be buying a Chanel bag (jumbo, caviar leather btw!) x

      @maraviiia 8 років тому +30

      I think from - viewer perspective it seems like this could be justification but I actually think from Amie's perspective, she's providing advice and insight based on her experiences (just like her bag videos). I think she took something that would make some people defensive and turned it into something so positive. :)

      I agree. Opening your life up on YT sometimes makes people feel like they can just crawl into every area of your life. Justifying what you do with your money is incredible to me... But that's just me I guess because I have the same reaction here in the Netherlands when people expect me to be open about how much I earn. Hmmm, maybe it's a British thing. I guess, we're just much more reserved on the whole...

    I don't want to sound super feminazi or anything, but it really irritates me when I have something high-end or luxury, and everyone assumes my boyfriend bought it for me. "Oh, nice bag! Did your boyfriend buy it for you?" "Your shoes are so cute! Were they a gift from your boyfriend?" What, just because I'm female I'm incapable of making my own money and buying myself expensive things? My boyfriend never gets comments like that on his suits, watches or car. It's really annoying.

    • @Joyce019610
      @Joyce019610 8 років тому +21

      So true! I'm in my maternity leave now, When I go to a high end store shopping with the pram, people always comment how luck I am. What does my husband do etc. I get so annoyed. I worked hard and saved enough money so I can take a full year off with my baby without putting any financial stress on my husband. And I bought most of the staff myself. My husband did gift me something, but I did the same for him. LV wallet, Armani suit, SF shoes, Hermes belt. No one ever asked him. How unfair!

    • @mvengarge9666

    • @pinknoted
      @pinknoted 8 років тому +13

      What's wrong with someone accepting gifts from their boyfriend anyway? Don't understand why this is looked down upon unless it is out of jealousy.

    • @hayleymarie6013
      @hayleymarie6013 8 років тому +20

      pinknoted Absolutely nothing. I actually love getting gifts from him :p My issue isn't gifts from my boyfriend, but people automatically assuming anything expensive I have was a gift, basically saying they don't think I'm capable of making my own money.

I avoided watching this video for awhile since i thought you didn't have to justify how you can afford them. but after watching this video i actually admire you a lot more than i did before! You weren't showing off but were very kind & honest about your background. You have what you have because of hardwork and wise decisions! This is a very helpful, insightful and well made video. Money is often an awkward subject but you talk about it so honestly and eloquently, it's like you're listening to a friend when watching this. Don't want to come across as patronising but I must have a good 5-10 years on you in age yet you seem wise beyond your years and provide advice here I wish I'd adhered to in my twenties! It's true, with a few exceptions, people who earn well do so through hard work and those who maintain their wealth do so by living well within their means. I think you're an excellent role model :)

    Do not let anyone tell you to explain how you got your money.....I'm a Psych Nurse in California and I used to make quite a bit of money plus my mother worked hard and I grew up watching her buy Luxury items from Rolex watches and Louis Vuitton bags. Obviously I too developed a passion for luxury items and when I could afford it I might buy a 2000K dollar bag, but I have been very sick and not able to work so I now buy just 300 dollar bags. Everyone should learn how to cut their coat according to their size and you have every right to do you and know that people like you for you and are not concerned about your pocketbook. I bought my first house 12 years ago at 24 years old, at that time i were a student, i had two jobs, i like handbags, i would spend money on a couple louis vuitton stuff, other than that, i live frugally, i buy my furniture at ikea, home decor at thrift store, until a couple years later i have a better job better income, i start replacing my home cheap stuff with pottery barn and restoration hardware products. I have two jobs and some other side jobs for like 14 years, i work weekends, nights, while other ppl are partying on friday night, i work… right now my first house has been paid off, i am working on the second house. The video was great, non-preachy and I hope you won't be scared to mention money as well! I think it's really important to address if certain items are "worth it" from the reviewers perspective (i.e. you spend a lot of money on bags, but if a quality or use isn't up to standard, then you might not deem it worthy)
    I hope it makes sense, but anyway thanks for some great videos! Your positivity shines through all of them!

I find the message they send out can be somewhat unhealthy and fake, creating a false image that's unreachable and that content to me is unhealthy. Yours however, if anything, is more of an inspiration to me. I really appreciate how down to earth and honest you are about life and living. Your videos calm me and motivates me at the same time. Thank you Amie, please never stop.

    Amie you are my favorite UA-camr. You are unapologetic about the things you love and never feed into all the hate you get. You always have an articulate and tactful response. You are clearly a highly accomplished, hardworking lady and you deserve every penny you've got and every beautiful piece of clothing and accessories you've bought with your hard earned money. I'm a student, but I really look up to you as an example of what kind of person I want to be when I start my career and move up in the world.

    I can't believe you had to make a video addressing how much you earn. People are so rude and while I know you didn't mind making this video, it is really no one's business to know how much money you make and where you spend it. You are such a nice youtuber, you don't come off as fake like some other gurus on here (not naming names), and I love your informative videos. I would hate for you to stop making videos. Keep up the good work!

      I agree that her videos are informative and that's all. She never tries to influence or force viewers to like her stuff. She simply gives out details and briefly speaks of her opinions. That's why I enjoy watching her channel.

    Amie good for you. I bought 15 designer bags year to date by working hard. Instead of liquor we spend it on bags. You don't need to explain to those who are whining. Hope to see you one day.

    Great video! I was inclined not to like it just because finances and YT seems to be a touchy subject, but yours was great. I am like you. I splurge on certain material items, but I can do that because I am frugal in most areas of my life. Hard work does pay off. I work in the home mostly now with my kids and it is the hardest job on earth with no salary. My husband works for a paycheck and I work for our quality of life. Our roles are very different but come together to create an organized happy life that we can enjoy as a family. Some would say it's too "traditional" but honestly it works great. I've learned that there is really no such thing as "having it all" but it is possible to have what you want if you are realistic about your priorities.

      Honestly, being a full-time parent is one of the most demanding, unrecognized roles that people preform. (And I'm not even a parent myself lol.)
      In a way, I would say it DOES sound like you "have it all." ;)

    At first, I felt really bad that you even had to post this video. You are such a wonderful, kind person, and you have a great sense of humor and are so open and honest with your videos. I could binge watch your stuff all day! Then I thought, you took experiences that could have made you bitter, and you could have lashed out at the haters, but instead you took the high road, thought positively, and filmed an excellent video giving concise reasons for your success, and how we could do it, too! Your hard work is really paying off, and I'm so glad I'm among the lucky who are benefitting from your UA-cam success! May you experience all the joys and happiness a positive, 'go getter' attitude can bring! You and Dan are the best!

    I subscribed to your channel a while ago because I was so impressed with your philosophy on money at such a young age. I see alot of young people who struggle with it and have a hard time with that concept, work = money = choices. I'm a woman in my late 40's and I can assure you that your money wisdom will give you alot of choice, freedom and security later in life. My husband and I have lived by the same philosophy, you and your boyfriend live by, for over 25 years. We are both retired and live very comfortably. :) I don't say these things to cheer myself I wanted to say them to let you know both your hard work will pay off! And what I love about your channel the most is you live within your means and yet you still make luxury purchases that make you happy. Others watching your channel, I'm sure, are inspired by that. Hard work can get you what you want. :) Bravo to you and your boyfriend!! And keep making these kinds of video's. I know there are others out there who will be inspired. :)
