Honestly, I find it odd that every Sonic racing game since R has opted for vehicles, instead of just… having the characters run around, like they do in the mainline games. If there’s a franchise, where that‘d be fitting, it’b be Sonic.
That’s what I always wanted out of a Sonic game. Could make the tracks wider on multiple characters can run side by side and have branching pathways and shortcuts to discover on the track. A mix of running, extreme gear and vehicles could be the ultimate Sonic racing game in my mind. But that’s just me and my imagination.

Sonic Riders is the only game that would make me drop Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in a flash
They could treat cars as a part of the extreme gear system instead and just make paths exclusively for cars in the game. Then they can have some cars that can fly or muscle cars that can go through obstacles. As for the speed paths they will remain exclusive to the extreme gear instead of character based. Basically only a board and hover skates can go on the grind rails. That way, everything works together

See, my TV didn't help much because there was a problem and the image was also full of noise. A point to point Tony hawk downhill jam style sonic riders is definitely my dream sonic racing game that I know will never happen. I want riders to come back it’s a perfect idea for sonic and it really was its own unique thing it’s why I hate that sega just defaulted to a making a kart racer. The all stars games were great except for tsr and are already established so it seems impossible to expect them to just stop but if they can mix the both with good fast gameplay then fuck it let me give you my bank information

I also think the Extreme Gear might be a part of the Transform gimmick along with other vehicles, though I'm still not holding my breath. I hope this game also gets the extras from the Apple Arcade game, such as the Green Hill race tracks and skins. I was thinking it would be an enhanced port of it from the logo. It'll probably be a celebration of a lot of eras of Sonic. I also think it might be a joint collaboration between Sumo Digital and Sega Hardlight. I hope that Tennis game is also on consoles. TSR was just so mediocre. I consider it the Forces of all the Sonic spinoffs ever. It wasn't a bad game by any means, it just didn't do anything too special or amazing. The updates were very lackluster. It's like they didn't know what to do and ran out of ideas. I like Free Riders more than that game. So I'm sure Crossworlds will be better. But if the Extreme Gear is part of the Transformed gimmick, it might play a little differently as there would have to be certain tracks reserved just for that, and they play very differently from the cars. I'm also concerned that we won't get that much Extreme Gear gameplay and cars will be more of a focus. While I wouldn't mind if the Racing/All Stars series continued as both series have great games, the Riders series was such a unique competitor to Mario Kart, and it's surprising that no one made a spiritual successor yet, even though they were never the most popular. It would be nice if they continued both and released Riders games alongside kart racers to please all fans, since the Racing series did actually sell a lot more and got generally better reception. There's also more of them, including the SA2 Kart Racing side mode, and some mobile games. The only other most similar racing series I know is SSX. I'm saying this as someone who grew up with Mario Kart. What made this series unique was that they didn't feature cars and they had in depth story modes, and that is something I appreciate as you don't really get that anywhere else, making the experience and characters more memorable, and that goes for the whole Sonic series. Free Riders is in fact my favourite one! Controls always worked well for me. I think it has the best track design in the series, and designing for the Kinect was a really neat idea, but they should have added a controller option. Honestly, optimising for the Kinect must have been really expensive, so in turn the story mode took a downgrade with those cutscenes and simpler plot, though I never hated it as the cutscenes are more expressive than most animated ones and the story is better written and suits a racing game more, plus I like how more characters are involved, plus Metal Sonic. Shame Zero Gravity scrapped most mechanics as it felt boring to play, almost as much as TSR, but it's story would have been really good in a mainline game. The first game didn't have a tutorial, which really affected it's reception, and something that Free Riders did really well. Its graphics look almost as good as Unleashed, and its locations were the most unique. There's just so much untouched potential! I'm grateful there are some fan games and mods that exist. I can't wait for the dx 3.0 update with custom tracks, as it's only in X at the moment! I Also checked out a Roblox fan game, and was reminded of the forgotten battle mode, and I thought, imagine custom battle arenas! Would you want the next game to feature this? I think it could be really good if they had bigger arenas and better items! What sort of story should the next game have? Should it play more like the first game or even feature the Zero Gravity gimmick? Free Riders played more like the first but slightly more simplified and had really cool setpieces and side modes, so I would love gameplay which takes that further! It would be good if they did something like that to make it more accessible, plus a detailed tutorial mode! This is why I disagree that their gameplay is way too in-depth for casual gamers, and that is proof that they can simplify it to be accessible enough while maintaining that core feel. And if you want more Riders gameplay, at least Speed Simulator has Extreme Gear. Anyway, thanks for the song suggestions!

Hold up, i just realized something. It's currently 2025, but what happens in 2026? It's the 35th sonic anniversary. Sonic Riders came out during sonics 15th anniversary. Maybe the extreme gear on the wall was a hint of what's to come in 2026, and this game is just to tide us over, or maybe it will come out in 2026 and have it all integrated.

And DANG I forgot the gameplay for this potential sonic racing game it mix between Dayton usa and ridge racer the with the drift mechanic being a combination of both drift mechanics of both series easy to do but at the same time very difficult to master but once you get the hang of it you're become an unstoppable drift monster but if don't want to there's also a grip option you can still get boost with a grip turn its a full on arcade style racing game and I know that this will probably never happen because of obvious reasons but this a crazy idea of mine that have in my head for a long while since may so what did you all think something like this actually happened feel free to agreed and disagree and feel to have your constructive criticism I no problems with that.

Bro I ledgit finished all of my Sonic riders games (and REPLAYED IT) over the newer ones. Sonic riders 1 (which I replayed on ps2) just has a better trick system. But both Zero Gravity and Riders is so fun and fast and it just Feels like a Sonic game. Plus im going to be honest. I hate the karts and how they look like, they are so bulky and ugly comepared to the sleek extreme gear.
Eh just get rid of cars, the extreme gears can transform so they don't need the cars gimmick, or unless they made cars a new class but idk is kinda redundant
If you have a PC please check out night runners prologue it's a racing game set in Japan in the late 90s. The is aesthetic is amazing and the music is great especially if you like breakcore. The game just oozes passion. Could not recommend it enough.
The band is tricot, and the guitarist is the lead singer, "Ikkyu," but I honestly forgot what concert it was. They're my favorite band, so I highly recommend you peep them!
