You Definitely got the measure of the guy with the vapourflys on uphill, he just get coming back at you on the flat and downhill...I was gunning for you at the end
I think he just ran out of steam as i was just running a constant pace, till the downhill finish to the line and picked up then. You enjoy parkrun also Ian?
That's so funny I was thinking the Same!
@@colrunswild4adventure781 he was racing me...i was running my own pace 🙂
Watched the whole video. It seemed to go on for ages! Very different watching a < 20 minute parkrun video (when there's no pace/time/distance overlays) than running a parking around 20 minutes. 5k is definitely an endurance effort! I'm 53 and am hoping to go sub-20 soon, and I've been watching a lot of videos lately for inspiration, hence why YT recommended your video. My PB Saturday just gone (22 June 2024) was 20:15, with previous PB of 20:42 a couple of weeks before that. That's on a flat course at the coast with a bit of wind.
Anyway, you're doing very well to be doing sub-20 minute 5.04kms at age 62. Inspirational. Well done, and long may you be able to enjoy running.
Thats is great to hear and welcome to my corner of UA-cam. Absolutley endurance for a 5k hence no editing my video to give that feeling. Showing stats is just a distraction LOL.....Having recently turned 63, i'm sure you will soon be under 20 and getting quicker. If you need any help, give me a shout.
@@PoetWithPace I managed a 19:43 today at parkrun. Well chuffed. P.S. Thanks for the offer of help by the way.
@@newbarker523 that is simply superb! Well done 🎉
@@PoetWithPace Appreciate that. Your video and others helped to fuel the fire and motivation, so thank you.
Nice running... 👍 I hope I can maintain my fitness like you when I am 62.. that will be in four years.
Nice reference to JC @17:23 in the video 🤣
JC is often in my videos LOL.....how long have you been running?
@@PoetWithPace Since 2015 but have always done sport. Hoping to go sub 18' 30" for 5k this year... actually 18' would be better but staying realistic 🤣
Well done, considering the twists on the route. 4 years older and hoping to break 20 by year end.
Thank you Peter and welcome to this corner if the internet! What are your current parkrun times?
Top effort 👌
Thanks Ian, this was hard work!
Great pacing, as always. Congrats. Inspirational. I'm only 60, you're setting some tough targets 😆
Thank you! What times are you running at moment?
@@PoetWithPace I ran 21.13 last July, but without any speedwork, just training for an Ultra 50K. I'm currently in Thailand and trying to get some speed in my legs again, and following a Garmin 10K training plan. The heat (it's typically 35C and 40C+ in the sun) is draining, but I could probably do 23mins for 5K; then hopefully break 21mins when I'm back in the UK for the summer, and with some luck, maybe 20mins. My main target is another 50K Ultra at under 5hrs 30mins.
@@st4331 good luck with the ultras! As you may know, running longer distances and can make us slower at the shorter distances
@@PoetWithPace Thanks. That's why I was surprised to run a 21.13 5k last summer. I had only been doing long-distance Z1/Z2 training, but I found that enabled me to maintain a good pace consistently; I could probably have carried on past 5k. Hoping the 10K training I'm doing now will improve my speed. Then, when I do the Ultra training I will still do a fast session once a week.
@@st4331 I guarantee you, once you have got your ultras out your system and focus on 5k training you will be around 20 minutes or quicker?
Fantastic run Donalto I was out of breath watching.
Thank you Rob. Good fun, eh?
Awesome running Donato, also brilliant camera work, Manchester or Landon Marathon is looking good, be there or be square, onwards & upwards to Manchester ? Or Landon? ✅😀🌴👍🏻✌️🏃🏽♂️🥳
Thank you Reece! Looking like Manchester....
Great running mate! 💪💪💪
Thank you Steve!
Well done mate!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Just wondering which shoes you run in for your marathons? Do you use a carbon plated shoe? Thanks 🙏
Good question Steve. My current shoe that will be used for first time in Marathon is Adidas Adizero Pro 3, but i have used the Saucony Endoprhin Speed & Pro, but non plated shoes like old Saucony Freedom ISO, Ride & Guide and also Brooks Ghost. What do you use?
@@PoetWithPace I was going to use my Hoka Carbon x 3’s but I’m thinking of trying a pair of Nike Vaporfly 3’s just because they sound like a faster shoe. I’ll try a pair on today and if they feel good I’ll get them 👍
@@Steveness100 go with what feels best on your feet 👍🏼
Great effort and fantastic pacing. You are such an inspiration for us older runners. I'm target a 10k in a couple of weeks for a pb in vets 55 category. Last chance saloon as I'm 60 next year. I don't want to say the time out loud 😂 ⁴⁸:⁵⁹ But aiming to drop it even more next year. You're that consistency pays dividend.
Good luck young man!
