Something I noticed during this declutter: in my subconscious there is an decision making scale!! Lol One side is logic and the other side is emotional. Some things I HAD to make the decision emotionally bc there’s still things I’m attached to. But when it came to moldy baby stuff: my logic kicked right in...I cannot keep moldy things!! That’s a new feeling because I’ve always been attached to things. I’m going to be thinking more deeply into this hypothesis but I wonder: have you ever noticed that too when making decisions?!

May I suggest you start putting painters tape on the floor for the area you want your gym space to be or your arts and crafts space to be. That way you could inspire yourself and give your decluttering a goal. Plus it will act as a barrier to putting anything back in your cleared out spaces. You are doing a great job!

When Your kids are very good behaviour all the time and always taking good care of their things, keeping their rooms very clean, loving their favorite things and want to make nice childhood collections of their things: books, clothes, toys, video games, clothes, DVDs and etc, then donataing is very wrong thing to do. If You have few space then storage boxes and shelves will help You out and Your kids will be very happy and thankful then, if they can keep their favourite things. Childhood things are very valuable and it is very sad, if they won’t see them anymore in their life. Every child should have the right to keep their things, if they can take good care of them all the time!!!

I hope that the things that were in your tossy tossy pile from last weeks video are gone from your house when you started this new clean out area. Since you take their toys and books for your boys to declutter, why is that baby stuff so difficult? Isnt their itens too? My mom holds on to dolls I have no atachment to and mostly live inside trash bags in attics. I will have to wait until she travels to trash them cause it is not fair to me. She is getting old and I feel overwhelmed for those decisions to make in the future. She gets pissed off, but she is out of reason. Think about that.

It might be rude of me to answer this in Ms Hearth's place but the short of it is; letting go of baby stuff sort of equals letting go of the dreams and desires of having another baby.

This is incredible! Your heart is so much stronger. And your boys since they agreed with your decision to pass those toys on to other kids. If possible hold off on building more shelves until you’ve made a bigger dent! You can see yourself getting stronger and stronger with your decision making and you get rid of so much every decluttering session. It would be a shame for you to have your busy hubby build all those shelves that you’ll just want to fill up with things. And who knows, maybe you will need more built than what you initially plan! Declutter first. Find storage solutions after the declutter. You’ve created amazing results in your kitchen just by flexing those decluttering muscles and letting your creative spirit fly. I can’t wait to see this basement completed by the end of the year!

And this has helped me so MUCH. For a LONG time money was an issue (still is but manageable) and I felt like I NEED to keep this\that because I spent $$$ on it. Often doing some emotional work with a therapist or a support group will help someone find other ways to handle difficult emotions, and then they are able to see their possessions in a different light and let go of the ones that don't suit the life they want to live going forward. I hope you are able to curate your stuff to help you build a future that makes you happy. Also, do you have anything that you could give away to bless others? That part has been really inspiring to watch here on this channel.

Mommy school. chuckled at that. We also had summer mommy school.
Expired, water damaged, moldy, missing piece, damaged by old batteries, Outgrown. YES!!! easy goodby.
Emotions under control don't really conflict with logic. Acknowleding strong emotions is logical.
looks like it is getting easier, even soothing to clear out the 'Stuff' !!!

This is so timely, tomorrow we are having a new hot water heater delivered and installed by a reputable plumber. But I got anxious when you were tossing that empty box. I don’t have children but I have multiple boxes of my own childhood toys, ice skates; I’m in my early 70’s and kept a chatty Kathy from 1960’s.

Wow you doing so great! You clear so much space. It's great to see your progress :)
And I really like the idea of mommy school! I'm studying education and I think it's just a wonderful idea to do these fun workbooks with your kids during the summer so they don't fall behind and are still learning :)

I'm slowly watching my war through the videos. And I don't have a hoarding disorder, but I still relate somewhat to your struggles :). I love how you let your heart decide if something stays or goes. I believe it's a good way for everyone to use. This is also how I do it, for me it's an adhd and emotional regulation thingy. Of I toss something I'm not ready to I know the ghouls of sadness and adult hissyfits comes for me
And honestly am so in awe of your tossing abilities, it's so fluffing amazing, I am seriously inspired beyond comprehension

With baby items, maybe you need to use the container concept when deciding how much to keep. Also, it may be easier emotionally to put the baby things on your towns giving page once you decide you can part with them. That way you know someone can currently use them. If you need baby items in the future, you will likely be able to find them through friends or through the giving page. My kids are 13, 11, 7, and 9 months. I hadn’t kept any baby items and we decided not to find out the last babies’ gender. 99% of his stuff has been hand me downs in great condition and he has more than we need. Once he outgrows his stuff, I pass it along on our Buy Nothing group for the next person to use. Most baby items are only used for a few months at a time so it doesn’t make much sense to save for years at a time. I do understand the sentimental attachment baby items have though so you have to decide what makes most sense to you.
