I had a discussion with some randos online about this topic, and some people suggested that the reason body types are more simplistic is because with the sheer number of cosmetics, making adjustments to all of them to fit a male and female body would be a lot of extra work for them.
TLDR: 343 might just be lazy

Agreed. They can add a premium currency for new cosmetics (so it makes sense to continue support from a business standpoint) but that currency also needs to be obtainable through gameplay. (even if it’s slow)

I've been displeased with this game from it's launch. This video is a perfect capture of hypocrisy or stupidity at its finest. They want the brownie points but can't even show us a woman.

The coating makes you look like a Christmas gift wrap they should’ve made a helmet accessory that was called Rosie’s Band or something
They could keep body types, but add different body types for which gender you select. Hence more masculine ones for males, and more feminine ones for females, you know, basic biology. That would make the body customization even better and add even more options

I understand that issue but from a lore perspective the halo 1 - 3 spartans are meant to be spartan II's they are supposed to be raised from children to be pure supersoldiers. They never had puberties and were pumped full of drugs, there is no reason to depict them as feminine. Halo reach has spartan IIIs which are basically just regular adult soldiers who were given the augmentation to become lesser spartan II's, and Spartan 4s are what we have in halo 4, 5, and infinite. They are just more advanced spartan IIIs.
Funnily enough, the person Rosie is based on actually quite working in the factory after 2 weeks.

I think saying they don't have a woman's body type is wrong. It's about our perception of what makes it a woman body and a man's body. 343 tried to make it ambiguous as to allow all types of people to exist as Spartans. I'm all for having a body type like we seen in the previous Halos as an option for those wanting that design. But, claiming that it's just dudes is not entirely true.

Actually, Hayla freed have me on Fo Spartans just not the body types. It was purely voice lines and even then those were incredibly rare. I miss people did actually forget existed i’m pretty sure it was just like voice lines of like when they took damage like death sounds)

I agree, they could've gotten the best of both worlds and included both options. Lore-wise it's difficult for the average person to determine the sex of a spartan from appearance alone due to their armor. Keyes was only able to determine that by observing their mannerisms. But for players who had reach to 5 as their first games, it's a bit odd for them to walk back on a feature that has been consistently present.
Halo 5's females had the most cake in the franchise, ironically, Halo 5's males come in second, honestly everything had major cake in that game
How to fix the skin
1.make it so that only the top part of the helmet is pock a dot.
2.make the body and legs blue with a blue ovrouls dezine on them.
3.The arms sould have a wight sholder pads and the lower arms and gloves are the color as the under suit.
It’s crazy how everyone I’ve heard make this complaint is a guy, feel like nobody remembers the whole episode in legends where Cal is called he by the ODSTS until her helmet comes off and they finally realise

I mean, the lore reason could be due to the augments affecting the physical proportions of the female body to suit the ideal physique of the Spartans
Maybe it has something to do with hitboxes? Pretty sure COD even has that problem with female characters having smaller hitboxes due to being less beefed up
Also remember that 343 doubled down and on mcc changed the male and female and male body type names to light armor and heavy armor. Dude, those are clearly men and women. Now Halo 5 is technically the only running halo game to feature male and female body types
It seems so simple just to have -1 to 3 instead of the current one. Make it vary with the cores too, Mark IV might have no difference but Mark V B would
I still don't get why they changed reach spartans in mcc to be ""light armor" "and ""heavy armor"" because it's physically impossible for a dude to be underneath that so-called ""LigHT ARmOr"" because that would have to be a curvy-ass dude to have back arch like that
Same with the ""HeAvY aRMoR"" because the shape of the models were designed for different spartan genders instead of a vague, and androgynous character model

I just assumed the skinny one was meant to be female, and I just assumed they didn't want to make it particularly feminine because it's armor it's designed to protect you not make it easy to distinguish gender. But to be fair I hardly spent any time in the customization, I kind of also just assumed it was the female version because of the female voices.

The reason you can't play as an actual woman in Halo Infinite is because according to DEI, the only way to respect women is to force the harmful stereotypes of men onto them, including much of the appearance of men. That's even less respectful than they make it out to be.

I doubt that, if that were the case there would be no reason for them to add three body types, it’s just large, small and medium spartan bodies , there is a clear lack of distinction in the body types to be able to differentiate between a male and a female, even my own sister pointed how stupid this is, i used played halo reach with her back then and that kinda got her into halo, and when infinite came out and i convinced her to try it, she was disappointed that she couldn’t play as a girl and jokingly said “why is this game so misogynistic” they try so hard to not offend anyone and in the end it comes back full circle and kicks them in the ass

What do you mean? Pick the thin body type, which I believe is either 0 or 1… and use that on the mark IV, I discovered it accidentally… the armor does align with body so you have a feminine spine or whatever.

Is it helping in any way when I argue, that nowadays you can tell tell apart male and an female soldiers mostly by height and maybe width at the shoulder sections? If you wear lots of gear and armour body features become a lot less distinguishable (is that a word?). Also modern body armor as of yet is not design to fit well on female bodies. That might change when the people who order that kind of stuff realize, that some soldiers today have boobs and wider hips which chaff on body armor designed for male soldiers.
TLDR female body types in older Halo titles looked cool (main reason for their existance) but were probably pretty exagerated. 343 being kinda lazy is still a thing and halo infinte cannot compete with MCC.
In other words, if you look at two soldiers irl who are decked out with gear,helmets,masks,etc,the first thing you look at is NOT their ass. 343 is lazy, but the only people who complained about this are honestly the horny mfs
