I have owned the brooks beast 12-18. Tried the 20 and man did Brooks seriously mess that shoe up. IT felt cheap. Literally they downgraded it. Brooks management cost cutting and it shows. Thank you for the review. Very informative.
I have flat feet. Bought Beast20 and they are awful for my low arch with the guide rails intruding. Beast18 is a delight. Will buy a few pairs and keep them
I agree each number up got worse. I'm really flat footed actually I'm Webb footed and glad I didn't by the 20. Come on brooks bring back the 14's. For now I will stick to new balance and Asics.
I bought the 18 on special via a friend's advice, and was instantly happy, I loved the soft top, I bought the 20 recently, the soft top does not extend past my big toe like the 18, and that toenail is still a bit sensitive to pressure after an injury. So I'm sticking with the 18s for a while still. I also noticed how stable my walking is, cos in my old shoes my foot would find any deviation in the level of the pavement and turn my ankle. This does not happen with the 18. 100% happy.
why? he is just basically reading all the marketing hype released from brooks without even running in these shoes or testing them for at least 1 day. this review is useless But as a person who has run in them alot i can say these are good shoes
Cheers from Mississauga Ontario Canada. I've been using the Brooks Beast '18 with prescribed orthotics for the past 2 years. Compared to my previous NB 847v2, the Beast is a better shoe. I developed blowouts on both of my NB shoes after 1 year. I also found the Brooks the more comfortable of the two motion control shoes. I have severe over pronation and a bunion on my left foot.
I totally agree. I've long appreciated the unrivaled support provided by the previous Beasts, but they were for the most part incredibly ugly shoes. Wife called them my "clown shoes."
I hope the beast 18 is what I’m looking for because I just bought it. I had bilateral foot surgery last year with a long break and I need to run again.
It definitely does not look as nice as the previous model. I got it and it just arrived today. It looks kind a like a Walmart shoe, but it is comfortable. I am hoping it holds up
I'm a longtime Beast wearer - mostly for refereeing soccer (football) on turf and dry grass fields. I have flat feet, and the 14, 16, and 18 were all much better for me . The current version has an unstructured top that allows my toes to slam into the front of the shoe, resulting in purple toenails that fall off. Not fun. As a result, my $160 pair of Beat 20s has been relegated to casual wear. Ridiculous. They need to go back to a firmer and more structured upper. All the support on the sole in the world is not going to help if your foot is sliding around because the upper is too light and loose.
I say they broke the Beast. I stopped looking at other shoes and only bought Beasts, but now I'm scrambling around to find another shoe that works. 18 was a downgrade from 16 and 20 just painfully sucks.
How could he really review and compare if he hasn't wore the 14 16 and 18. 14 and 16 were the best. And I have horrible feet flat Webb feet. Come on brooks don't forget about us guys. Maybe they should test guys like me out on their shoes I. Their facilities not some pretty boy with perfect feet.
I bought the 20 and got rid of them. Most uncomfortable expensive shoe. I have a slightly fused ankle from a car accident. They caused me pain and swelling. Unlike others.
I'm a heavier guy (250) and I experience a great bit of discomfort in my shins when running. I am a overpronated runner and am looking for a good pair of brooks. Any recommendations? Was looking at the beast or the GTS19. Any help is appreciated
I have the GTS 19 and the beast 18. The beast is what you’re looking for. The difference is immense in terms of relieving plantar fasciitis and shin splints . The GTS is a lot faster though.
As a heavier guy myself, I went with the Beast 16 (was on sale) and it’s the only shoe that doesn’t cause knee or foot pain. Now tracking down more 16s but couldn’t find any so settled on buying a couple pairs of Beast 18s yesterday before they sell out of their older stock as the 20s are out and many say they prefer the older shoe support (of the 16 & 18). Good luck!
@@jackwelsh3353 the gt 2000 8 would be better than the kayano. Much more support. The beast even more so. But the brooks gts20 and asic gt2000 are virtually identical in foot feel for comparison.
@@Cody-hr1xi I'm about as flat as it gets, the gt2000 have very adequate toe room. I did really want the brooks but the gt20 was too little support and the beast too much. But toe room was not an issue
Seriously, step up your audio game. Check out a shotgun mic if you're allergic to a lav solution. OR set up a dynamic mic and position it [very] near your mouth like any other talking head setup.

I've had the beast 14 - 16 - 18 and no shoe on earth comes close to the 14 , should be a national holiday for it .
Wayne Beard 14 is the ugliest but the best. I just wore mine out after years of not running and am looking for a new pair

I’m not certain what Brooks did but I walk far longer in the 20 compared to the 18. Initially I didn’t like it, fell in love with it over time.

18 was the best pair of shoes I ever bought. Less arch support is a huge no for me.

I've got several pairs of never used Brooks Beast 16s in their original boxes, size 15 4E. Let me know if that size works for you.

Beast 20 is a disaster...returned after 2 days. What was wrong with the 18...it was perfect
Big fail magic soul,upper deck mesh wears out before time. Moderate use scaled up, one with a bigger care factor would take them to consumer affairs.
