Late last year, we dedicated a cover of the Zombie’s classic “This Will Be Our Year” to everyone who doesn’t share our politics or our world view. Now we’re releasing it with none of the politics attached, so we can all look forward together as the miserable year 2020 recedes in the rear view.
"This Will Be Our Year” is one of my favorite songs of all time, and it’s more timely than ever. After such a catastrophic year - so much that we rely on just crumbling beneath our feet - it feels good to add a drop to the world’s bucket of hope and optimism. Like the song says, this year was a long time coming, and I pray we look back on it as the time when things got better.
The Zombies were a great band. This is one of my favorites.
It’s been 20 year since I saw the MTV video of Get Over It. I was maybe a week away from leaving the US to be a missionary for my church for two years. In my journal I wrote down two bands I had just discovered and which I didn’t want to forget while I was away: the Strokes, and OK GO.
Fast forward a bit and I got a “mix tape” with the Hi-Fi version of “This Will Be Our Year” on it. It has been a song of hope and perseverance for me since then.
In 2014 I became a choir teacher and had my students close out my first holiday concert with this song, it was a rough year as a first year teacher. But this song gave me hope and introduced my students to one of my favorite bands.
Damien, Tim, Dan, Andy, thanks for shining where you shine. You guys keep inspiring me, through good times and bad, to look for creative solutions to the challenges I face. We love you:)

This is such a beautiful song. I only got into OkGo last November but they helped me through some really difficult time. This really made me think about being hopeful for the future, and how I will have a good year next year. For starters, I learned I was autistic in December so that will surely help me have better year because I understand myself more. Here's to a lovely song and hoping for a great year!

With a president who has accepted bribes from China, has a history of lying, who is suffering from dementia and has just put back kangaroo courts in universities to strip men of their due process rights, while also allowing men to compete on women's sports teams, what could possibly go wrong? I mean it took Biden less than 24 hours to break his own mask mandate. He really knows how to get things done.

Like marshm3llow, I only discovered OK Go a couple months ago via UA-cam's algorithm, and I now they are my Obsession, you could say. ;-) Love this cover (and it's a song I had never heard before Damian posted it on Twitter prior to the election). Perfect for this moment in history. I hope y'all will do "#AskOKGo" again soon--I have so many questions. Looking forward to seeing you guys live after the pandemic calms down!
