Governor Green is the bully, IMHO. He prepared that Proclamation BEFORE the "natural disaster" that was NOT a natural disaster because the spread of the fire was caused by HUMANS in various ways - as well as the extent of the tragedy in not sounding the alarm, not sending text messages, announcing that the fire in the morning was 100% contained (per website), not alerting the people, not letting them escape in their cars so they were burned to death so horribly - now, I call THAT bullying! Furthermore, in the aftermath of the Fires, the Governor has not stood with the people of Lahaina, he has not emphatically repudiated the President's announcement o $7-- per household while sending BILLIONS to Ukraine, which is not even a part of the USA. Why didn't he do that? He let Biden bully the people also, treating them so badly. The Housing Chief also came off as a bully in her snide and snarky manner in which she conducted that meeting. Really a cold fish, very hard. I would say "obdurate". She reminds me of the Duchess of Windsor.
All these politicians have never heard of a deadline or had to step up at crunch time. In construction there a thing called liquidated damages, state officials need to be held accountable the same way.

The governor is trying to deflect and blame citizens/others for a government official resigning. When a citizen voices his/her legitimate concerns in a public forum, an elected/appointed official should be able to answer their questions/address their concerns. The governor is trying to make citizens feel guilty and take the focus away from how he and other county officials dealt with (or not) the fires that destroyed the ENTIRE town of Lahaina. Locals/islanders are passionate people-they love and care deeply about their families, communities and land..governor needs to stop deflecting and answer the citizens about why he made an emergency proclamation WEEKS BEFORE the fires in Lahaina and Kula (as if he was preparing for some disaster to happen in the islands) or why he stated that “the state can buy land”..WHOSE land is he referring to?

I did not know WHO BJ was when he spoke at that meeting, that he was a UFC champion and that he ran for Governor of Hawaii - when he was talking at that meeting, I thought wow, that's a very articulate guy who is really nailing the point about the people being the bosses - when Nani started to interrupt him and said that this was not a time for a political speech, I did not really understand WHY she said that, not knowing that BJ ran for Governor against Green. It just did not seem appropriate to me for her to put it that way, he was just exercising his First Amendment Freedom of Speech. Do not cast pearls before swine. Self-care is not arguing with those committed to misunderstand you. Know when to walk away from the table when you are being disrespected, when boundaries are abused, and especially in an environment of threats. The Build Beyond Barriers crossfire was hostile. Observe the patterns of behavior. Observe the similarities in how behavior signals, communicates, and innately broadcasts to others what is tolerated and what is complicitly accepted. Intimidation, disrespect. Same goes for interpersonal relationships, workplace dynamics, family dynamics, dynamics with kids in the halls of high school.
