The indian leopard is a real rarity. Wuppertal imported two orphans from india in 2004. The other one died last year. The lepard you saw ist the last indian one in the EU
Burgers' Zoo's second enclosure used to hold Golden jackals. It is now used by the male, who used to be held behind the scenes. The female is in the larger enclosure
In regards to American Zoos, we have some really nice ones, San Diego, Minnesota, etc. But they are mostly average quality with an okay amount of space and foliage, but we also have some really cruddy ones, Kansas City, Bronx, Sunset, etc. All zoos that have leopards except for Columbus and Fort Worth (generic) have amur leopards which are often in Africa sections in place of African leopards
Afternoon, back with my UK holding info. I won’t include snow or clouded leopards in this as I presume they will get their own videos. Since 2021 I have only seen one species of leopard and that is the Sri Lankan leopards at Banham zoo, at Banham they have a large grassy habitat with a few trees and bushes in the centre, the habitat is not netted over but does have incredibly tall fencing with a curve at the top to stop the leopards climbing out. In terms of holdings there are No African leopard holders 11 Amur leopard holders No Arabian leopard holders 1 Indian leopard holder No Javan leopard holders 2 Unspecific sub leopard holders 2 North Chinese leopard holders No Persian leopard holders 1 Sri Lankan leopard holder (Banham)
Ooh really curious about the non-netted over one, definitely will look that up! Interesting how the ratio amur leopard to other leopard is so different to the rest of Europe...
My Favorite Leopard Enclosures is from Blijdorp, Monde Sauvage, Safaripark Beekse Bergen, Burger's Zoo, Cologne Zoo, Zoo de Maubeuge, Allwetterzoo Münster and Pairi Daiza.🐆🤩😉👍✨ I like for Leopard to get Large Enclosure (For Amur Leopard like Russian Forest🐆⛰🌲, For African Leopard like African Savannah🐆🌍🌳🌾 or African Rainforest🐆🌍🌴🌺, For Persian Leopard like Scrublands🐆🌳🏜🌾, For Indian Leopard, Javan Leopard & Sri Lank Leopard like Tropical Landscapes from Asia🐆🌎🌴🌺.
Hi the difference between the black leopard and a black panther is that a black panther is a melanistic jaguar, whereas a black leopard would be a melanistic leopard. Overall I think most of the habitats were very nice. A lot of variation. Also are both of the cages in the Allwetterzoo connected?
I feel they might be connected through the backstage, but I'm not sure. They are adjacent so probably. In Dutch there really isn't a distinction between leopard and panther, both words mean the same afaik.

Wow, that's pretty cool! Had no idea

Nice variety. The Amur leopard habitats in Helsinki Zoo are very nice in my opinion, with a lot of height.
I've seen Amur leopards at Howlett's, the Big Cat Sanctuary, Port Lympe, Colchester Zoo, Marwell zoo and Combe Martin wildlife and dinosaur park.
