When it comes to the UK, unfortunately there aren't any giant pandas here anymore. ZSL London zoo did house them from the 1938 to 1994 and weirdly enough, they were housed in the Sobell pavilion which served as the main primate section of the zoo. ZSL Whipsnade zoo did house them temporarily during the Second World War but after that, they were moved back to London zoo. Edinburgh zoo was well known for being the only place in the UK to house giant pandas in which they were introduced to the zoo in 2011. In late 2023, the giant pandas from Edinburgh zoo were moved back to China and the enclosure now temporarily houses some markhor from Highland wildlife park. Interestingly enough, the markhor is one of the animals that's going to be in the Zookeeper pack.

There's nothing more relaxing that seeing a panda eating bamboo!

Pairi Daiza's simplistic naturalistic enclosures are the only one I like. The focus on plants instead buildings that aren't even close to the real buildings in that area. I'm not a fan of the politics and I feel like panda's are treated more like a mythological animal than what it is just a bear. The focus on that enclosure is on the panda's instead fancy theming which I love.

How big do you think a elephant should or needs to be?

ZieZoo used to house wolverines, but they temporarily removed them. Then, side-striped jackals (the only one in all of Europe to have them) were moved to it. The jackals are unfortunely gone now, but wolverines are set to return once the North-America section has been updated.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but one of the common hippos from Antwerp zoo Hermein, who's been in the zoo since 1981, sadly passed away recently at the age of 43. Her daughter Imani, has been moved to Dublin zoo in Ireland so then she can still live with another hippo to socialise live so at the moment, Antwerp zoo no longer houses common hippos.

Why isn't Rostock zoo in this video since they house northern raccoons as well?

I've seen northern raccoons at Hertfordshire zoo, Wingham wildlife park and Drusilla's though unfortunately, none of the three have them anymore.

Fun fact: raccoons dont wash their food to make it clean but the rubbing and water makes their nerve endings in the hands more sensitive to feel everything. By the way you can see wild invasive raccoons in natuurpark Lelystad. 2 weeks ago i was fishing next to it and saw a very big raccoon eating kfc trash. By far the biggest raccoon i ever saw and the only wild one. Ive documented racoon tracks and feces for over 3 years there.

Cuties! I've only ever seen raccoons in the wild. As an American, I live in their native range. Although I've seen plenty of other local species in zoos, I've never actually seen a raccoon in one.

My Best Raccoon Habitats is from Anholter Schweiz, AquaZoo (old & new), Artis, Blijdorp, Cologne Zoo, Tierpark Dessau, Eindhoven Zoo (Dierenrijk), Bio-Topia Dunkerque, GaiaZoo, Wildpark Grafenberger Wald, Zoo Hannover, Kasteelpark Born, Zoo Maubeuge, Zoo Osnabrück, Pairi Daiza, Wildlands, Dierenpark Zie-Zoo, De Zonnegloed, Zoom Erlebniswelt and Zooparc Overloon (new). 🦝😉👍⭐ I like for Raccoon🦝 to have Large Enclosure like Tongass National Forest🏞 with Ponds, Tree Branches to climbing, Nesting Boxes for sleep, Indoor Enclosure for Nest and probably to compatible with Striped Skunk🦨. 🏞🦝😉👍✨

I've never liked the Artis enclosure. Its overgrown with plants, you rarely see the cats and good luck seeing anything if you're in a wheelchair or handicapped. The thing is bloody impossible to traverse. I've been going to Artis all my life and I generally think its a very good zoo, but by God that jaguar exhibit sucks. In all the years I've visited, I've only seen each jaguar only once. And with the female, I literally only saw her ear poking out from behind something.

Artisklas is called this way beacause, the founder was an old employee of Artis. Who had wild animals in his garage to teach give stuff. So i got the nickname “artisklas” Eventualy the city of haarlem gave him a plot land, so he doesnt give any trouble with neighbours

Fun fact, in pairi daiza that one part with the balcony is actually how the Penguins go to there like private indoor area for the night, there is a time that they just walk trogh that part

Amazonica is being broken down because the roof was declared unsafe. so they are i believe gonna rebuild it with different material. And the bird of prey show i believe is never returning anymore from what i read because its not of this time anymore.

All three of Mandai Wildlife Reserve had gharials last time I went there. Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari.

The tunnel/walkthrough in Tierpark Hagenbeck looks amazing! What a fun idea.

Luckily enough, I've been to the only place in England that houses king penguins which is Birdland. I feel like Birdland has one of the more unique king penguin enclosures out there since it's an outdoor enclosures that resembles the coasts of Patagonia and they're housed with Humboldt penguins and weirdly enough, I think African penguins as well. The other place in the UK that houses them is Edinburgh zoo in Scotland which also an outdoor king penguin enclosure called Penguins Rock. It is a large penguin enclosure that's surrounded by faux rocks, has a large pool and it also houses gentoo penguins and northern rockhopper penguins.

The penguins actually walk on the balcony to go to the other side of the enclosure (for Pairi daiza’s enclosure)

So Perfect Enclosures for King Penguins, I like for them to have So Large Enclosure, like Antarctica Landscape and so verry water like ocean for swimming, of course as Underwater Viewing for ZOO-Guests to see them swimming underwater and I call it Penguin's Kingdom. 🧊🐧👑 + 😉👍✨

The Dutch canal aquarium was my favorite part of the zoo. It was actually for me a reason to go because I really don't like the rest of Artis because the enclosures are very much lacking in space and enrichment in the majority of the park.

You have to visit the new exhibit in Zoo Wuppertal, definitely one of the top 3 in europe. 1.250 m² big, self-sufficient with planted bamboo and socialize with crested deer.
