My dad was a good cook and he used to wash his whole chickens with soap and water, but he had raised the chickens, killed the chickens, and plucked them. I remember seeing the dirty water when he rinsed them. They were the best tasting I have ever had and that was 45 years ago. I don’t usually wash chicken, but probably should since who knows how clean the chicken packers are in their plants. Love your videos. You are becoming my favorite youtube person.
Another great meal prep video!! Your def one of my fav you tubers and helped me jump into keto. Just started on Tuesday. Had a panera green goddess salad for dinner which I know is a fav of yours. And have had those tuna avocado cakes for lunch the past three days and they were super yum.
I love your videos! I did realize that dried cranberries have 84 carbs a serving! I couldn’t tell if those were fresh or dried. I know you do a mixture though
I really can't stand coconut flour. I tried one recipe using it and could not eat it. Maybe if you mix coconut flour with almond flour if might be better. I love your grandma's loaf pan. I have 1 kitchen item from my gram, her salt box and I smile every time I see it.
I never wash my chicken either! I never even heard of that being a thing until I watched a few different UA-camr. Personally, the less I have to handle it, the better!
Thank you so much for your videos. I am a single mother of two girls and work out of the home with a full and part time job. Thank you so much for being an inspiration for me. Showing me that ALL women ROCK no matter what situation you may be in anyone can meal prep with real un Pinterest food. Thank you again and please keep up the amazing work. GOD bless you and your family.
I wash all my meats except ground meats for obvious reason ... simply because you don't know if the chicken or meat was dropped or came into contact with other things ect before you eat them ... I don't care for what the FDA says most of the time because they have made too many recalls on foods they have approved but like she said it's a preference and for those saying you get chicken germs everywhere I mean you kinda just second guessed yourself by saying it has germs... but it literally take 1 min to rinse all of that sticky white - clear build up off and when your done get your spray bottle with bleach and water and just spray your sink some and wipe with a paper towel.... BUT PREFERENCE!!!
I clean all meat unless it’s ground meat. Almost stop eating ground meat because I couldn’t clean it, lol. I think it’s a preference thing and for me it’s a preference. My sister in law works in a chicken plant and she said if people saw how meat is handled they would not only clean it but they would take a Brillo pad and scrub it, lol.
My uncle used to work in a place where they were making fruits jams. He said that a lot of bugs are cooked with the fruits and he would never eat anything of that kind.
I’ve never washed chicken in my life...sounds like too much effort to me! Everything looks delicious! Will definitely be trying a couple of these! Love your videos!
WW Journey to Healthy I will ALWAYS wash meat, if a bone saw has cut through the bone when the butcher preps it before sale, no matter what kind of meat it is: beef, chicken, turkey, pork, etc. (I just don’t like the idea of eating powdered bone (or tiny shards of bone) ON or IN my meats.) Also, if there are tiny pin feathers (like occasionally on turkey or chicken) I’ll pluck them out, & then quickly/ & briefly rinse the meat.
I'm in the UK but it is recommended you do not wash chicken, all to do with how the little specks of water you can't see spreads and the risk of spreading bacteria. As chicken had to be thoroughly cooked anything on the skin that you would wash would be cooked off
Your meal preps give me great ideas. Perhaps washing meats is cultural. I dont know one person in real life that doesnt wash and thoroughly season their chicken. We just disinfect after. But as long as it works for you. 🤷🏾♀️
I have always had an aversion to ground chicken because of the slimy texture (and extra cost). Boneless skinless chicken breast in our area is about 1.99/lb but ground chicken is close to 4.00/lb. About a month ago, i tried to make my own ground chicken and it turned out fantastic! Much better texture and not slimy at all. It was very simple too. I just chunked up a couple chicken breast and threw it in the food processor and pulsed until it was the right consistency. It took maybe 10 pulses. Super quick and cheap. Made great Chicken burgers.
Way too high of a risk of cross- contamination rinsing chicken...glad you recommended doing research because it's definitely not recommended. Love your videos!
I am watching this at the airport, craving MY food!! Cannot wait to meal prep this weekend. I don't wash my chicken, either because Alton brown told me not to.🤷🏻♀️
Washing meat isn't recommended by the USDA is not recommended because it can be transferred to other areas. If you state a source, do so in it's entirety.
Hi👋another awesome video Jen!! I burst out laughing at your reaction to the bread!! My younger son would’ve said the same thing, he’s very serious about his food!!😄 🌷 Until next time be well💐
Sorry the zucchini bread didn't work out. Sounds about as successful as when I tried to make my own vegan sausages. Never doing that again. Just a note, when we made the keto cookies we didn't have erythritol so we used powdered 1 tbsp + 1 tsp powdered swerve. Worked out perfectly. We also only used 1/8 tsp salt because we found the 1/4 was too salty.
I never wash chicken, but rinse it. I'm not sure what everyone is touching when talking about cross contamination, but have the cold water running, open the package, rinse the pieces, place on a paper towel covered plate & wash my hands. It's the way my grandmother & mom have always done it, so I do it the same way. I'll even rinse meat, especially if it's in the packaging tray with one of those absorbent pads underneath. I don't like knowing the meat (or chicken) has been sitting on the pad full of juices, so rinse it off & pat it dry. I've never had a problem & it certainly doesn't change the taste or texture. Just a personal preference to rinse it first. Thanks Jen, I find your videos very inspiring & often wonder how you keep from eating some of the chicken when cutting it to put away -it looks so good. LOL
Me too. As a student I worked in catering/hospitality and food retail and have seen packaged meats in all kinds of states. Even in expensive places. I rinse everything! 😂
Yes exactly. And I always wipe my counter down and sink with all purpose cleaner after handling meats and then I continue cooking. I always WASH my meats!
So grateful i found your channel! Gives me so many amazing ideas. I have already started making the egg bites for the last 2 weeks and love them!!!!! Thank you for all of your great recipes and making your content so amazing and fun to watch :)
I always washed chicken until two years ago when the articles started coming out about how much chicken cooties you spread around your kitchen by washing it. My mom hasn't quite come over to the dark side but I'm working on her :-)
Hi Jen, your systematic, informative and concise preps are so helpful! Great editing and steady camera perspectives to see what you are doing - you're a natural conveyor of info and glad I found your channel to help me organize my keto meals! Keep up the great work :-)
Thank you for your thoroughness, honesty, and hard work. I appreciate it. I am struggling to get back on keto WOE, so a big thank you for sharing variations on regular recipes.
I actually worked in a UK kitchen that produced food for other people and you are not supposed to wash the chicken as it then spreads any bacteria over other things - if you just cook it then the bacteria dies whilst cooking - obviously you need to wash your hands, chopping boards etc - and I love your meal prepping - never get round to doing it for myself but I do get some great ideas - thanks
I don’t « wash » chicken, but I rinse it... And wash my hands everytime I need to touch something else... We can never be too cautious with chicken... It’s personnal preference, but I don’t trust them🤷🏻♀️😂 Love your videos! Great ideas🤤😋
Great video again and I wash all my chicken too do more to it but that's another story. Ya that zucchini bread I don't think I would touch that haha!!!😎😉😁
Hi, quick question about the zucchini bread...can I ask if maybe it's cause you used coconut flour, the reason I'm asking is because I just made a peanut butter cookie recipe with coconut flour & they came out so dry & disgusting my son & I couldn't even chew them they were literally taking the spit out of our mouths. so I've read up on this & it said that coconut flour tends to have a much dryer consistency...so I was just curious as I am fairly new to the Keto end of it, I'm good with low carb & never really played around with the almond flour or coconut flour exchange...so that's all....absolutely love your videos been a subscriber for awhile keep the meal prep & cooking videos coming! 😊
Love your videos!!!! I had never meal prepped a day in my life until I found your videos. Maybe the zucchini bread would've tasted better with all the eggs it required.... 🤔😊.
I rinse my chicken and I soak it in a little water with vinegar, & lemon for a few minutes... it’s a Caribbean thing... any who, my comment is about that keto cook book you used to make the bread... all the recipes I’ve tried from them are so disgusting I haven’t liked not even ONE 🤮 love your channel so much ❤️
I always wash any meat that I i’m getting ready to cook, but I agree with you, it is a personal preference. Which is why I don’t eat from every and anybody. Just the African and Caribbean in me. I’m just here for the meal prep ideas.
I started placing the egg yolks and other ingredients in the plastic bag for the deviled eggs. I started doing this after using the hack for camping. You can mix the ingredients by using your hands and cut one corner for the piping. Save one bowl from being used.
I have found that my eggs peel better when they are steamed. I do not have an instant pot, but I have a George Foreman veggie and rice steamer. I have chicks so my eggs are super fresh and didn't always peel when boiled. But with steam- no problem!
Jen I love your ideal recipes I rinse my chicken tho just to be careful but I realize you have to substitute a lot which is maybe the cause of the change of taste of your recipes also I don’t know if you looked into using other natural sweetener products like honey or maple syrup for sweetener instead for man made replacement (artificial) sugars they end of not really being good for you take care
Cooking hard boiled eggs in the instant pot is steaming them. This method separates the membrane between the egg and shell from the egg. When you peel the shell, the membrane easily goes with it.
Hi there, I am so loving your recipes! I am all the way from Suriname and just started with low carb meals. I have gotten so many good ideas... Thank you very much and lot's of warm love from Suriname xx
My dad was a good cook and he used to wash his whole chickens with soap and water, but he had raised the chickens, killed the chickens, and plucked them. Aw thank you so much Leilani!!
Lol I almost died of laughter when you said the zucchini bread was terrible. Immediately subscribed!! Love your content!
I just received my salad spinner from Amazon yesterday. Looking forward to using it!!!
Oh awesome! I hope you love it Katy!
I love your videos! I did realize that dried cranberries have 84 carbs a serving! I couldn’t tell if those were fresh or dried. I know you do a mixture though
The only problem seems to be the frequent use of the microwave which is not best for your health
I really can't stand coconut flour. I tried one recipe using it and could not eat it. Maybe if you mix coconut flour with almond flour if might be better. I love your grandma's loaf pan. I have 1 kitchen item from my gram, her salt box and I smile every time I see it.
You have the best meal prep videos! I don't know why but there so relaxing to watch.
Thank you so much!! 😘
I don’t mind seeing repetitive food preps.
Thanks Shelly :)
I don't mind either
sameeee
Thank you for telling us when a recipe doesn't work so we know too! Love your videos!!
I never wash my chicken either! I never even heard of that being a thing until I watched a few different UA-camr. Personally, the less I have to handle it, the better!

I love that you use your grandmas baking pans and your meal preps are so inspiring Thank you for sharing
Thank you Annie!
Love that roasted cauliflower and sausage recipe. Making that for sure!
Love that you love making the videos cuz I sure do love watching them! Think you are the best meal prepper out there! Very inspiring!
I get the same comments on not rinsing my chicken. I always comment back the USDA's article on that. Love the video!
Good to know I am not the only one! Thank you! 😘

I totally get it!
Very good chicken needs to be cleaned before cooking
Did she rinse the knife off she dropped on the floor?
My uncle used to work in a place where they were making fruits jams. He said that a lot of bugs are cooked with the fruits and he would never eat anything of that kind.
If I worked in a chicken plant, I’d never eat it! Lol!
I’ve never washed chicken in my life...sounds like too much effort to me! Everything looks delicious! Will definitely be trying a couple of these! Love your videos!
I don't know your background, but you are a born teacher! These videos are so clear, fun to watch, and inventive! Love these! Thanx
Thank you!!
Wash chicken? I’ve never heard of that! I love meal prepping and love watching your preps! Really jealous of your butcher block counter!!
Thank you so much!
I always wash my chicken before cooking it because I'm super conscious on how the butcher handle the chicken.
WW Journey to Healthy

Appalachian Herbalist it's not a new thing and I'm not being racist but it's more common in other cultures most white people dont wash their meats
Your meal preps give me great ideas.
Perhaps washing meats is cultural. I dont know one person in real life that doesnt wash and thoroughly season their chicken. We just disinfect after. But as long as it works for you. 🤷🏾♀️
Thank you
So much!
Love this Jen!
Thanks lady!!! 😘
Marriage & Motherhood you two need to do a collab! You both are full time mom's with careers! Love the women power between the two of you! 💪🏼💓
Girl power! 😜

I do this all the time for chicken lettuce wraps!

I am watching this at the airport, craving MY food!! Cannot wait to meal prep this weekend.
I don't wash my chicken, either because Alton brown told me not to.🤷🏻♀️
And bummer about the zucchini bread!! Have you liked other recipes from that book?
Lol I love Alton!
Yes I have so I was really surprised that the bread was a flop!
I have the same juicer! I never wash my chicken...I didn't even know that was a thing! Love your videos :)
Love all of ur ideas especially the greek chicken bowl. Keep em coming!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for being real and saying the bread was disgusting!
Woohoo! Love your meal prep videos! Thanks! And thanks for your encouragement regarding working moms. I needed to hear that!

*I love how this video provides such a wide range of healthy meal prep ideas. Thank you for sharing!*

Another great video full of useful tidbits, thanks!
Thank you Sarah! 😘

Thank you so much! Have a great weekend!
All of those dishes look great! I want to try the chicken sausage/cauliflower bowl but I take your advisement on skipping the zuchinni bread. Cheers!
You are awesome my friend. Love watching you
Thank you so much Betty!
You are hilarious, great video 😂
I love binge watching these videos while I do my Monday food prep. Thank you for doing them!
I write reviews in my cookbooks after I make the recipes too.

Thank you for being so dedicated to meal preparation
You are so welcome!
I’ve never washed my chicken before cooking 😎
Thank God I'm not the only one LOL!
No you are not. I don't wash mine either.
I don't wash mine also. It tells you not to wash. 😀
Jennifer Chapin That is a carry over from when people butchered their own chickens. No need to do that now.
Very interesting!
Hi Jen, your systematic, informative and concise preps are so helpful! Great editing and steady camera perspectives to see what you are doing - you're a natural conveyor of info and glad I found your channel to help me organize my keto meals! Keep up the great work :-)
Love your meal preps! You have awesome stuff to make it all happen and agree about your butcher block counter. Thanks for sharing!
Love watching your videos.. It's like I'm addicted lol.. But I'd love to have recipes to some or most of the things you make
I stumbled across your videos last month. I absolutely love watching all of them!
I have never washed my raw chicken.
Thank you for your thoroughness, honesty, and hard work. I appreciate it. I am struggling to get back on keto WOE, so a big thank you for sharing variations on regular recipes.

thanks for honesty about the bread - refreshing! Chicken wing meat balls look great!
Thank you Karen!
Thank you for the recipe ideas!🤗💕
Our Daughter was hospitalized from deviled eggs at our local church pot-luck. No more eggs consumed in this family. Loved the video, Jen! ❤️🤗
these videos make me wanna meal prep for the whole month 😭
I think the zucchinni bread needs less coconut flour and some other flour like almond flour.
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Nicole!
Love your meal prepping videos! You’re great inspiration ^^ ;) greetings from Ireland
Thank you Patrycja!
I don’t « wash » chicken, but I rinse it... And wash my hands everytime I need to touch something else... We can never be too cautious with chicken... It’s personnal preference, but I don’t trust them🤷🏻♀️😂

Great video again and I wash all my chicken too do more to it but that's another story. Ya that zucchini bread I don't think I would touch that haha!!!😎😉😁
LOL!
I wonder if the taste of the sour cream is what made it awful
Thanks for keeping it real about the zucchini bread. I have that cookbook and was interested in trying that recipe. Thanks again!
You are welcome!
I always wash my meats. USDA is not the only resource to read. They've gotten a lot of things wrong actually.
Great prep video! I have learned so much from you! Thanks!
Thank you for your kind comments Debbie!

Well I was kind of thinking that....but the taste was just way off....not good!
I don't wash my chicken 🐔 either. I have heard that you are not supposed to. Love 💘 your channel!!!

Having a beer 😅 disgusting bread 🤣 adding pasta to dressing 🤩😎🤗 Loved it all!!!!
I have found that my eggs peel better when they are steamed. I do not have an instant pot, but I have a George Foreman veggie and rice steamer. I have chicks so my eggs are super fresh and didn't always peel when boiled. But with steam- no problem!
Great tip Christie!
Looks like your dog wants Keto scraps!
You are so awesome! I love your meal prep ideas♥️
Thank you Amber!
Washing your chicken is a thing that people from warm countries do, I think.
Loved everything about your video, but the inclusion of techno music. Don't see the need.
Washing chicken is not a personal preference the USDA says do not ever wash any meat!
Food is what I find most difficult about being an adult. How much food does a single, adult need? 🙃
Love your prep videos! Does your cooked cauliflower get soggy when you reheat them? Thanks
Not too bad if you roast it!
I love your videos. So many good ideas for low carb meals. Thank you!
Cooking hard boiled eggs in the instant pot is steaming them. This method separates the membrane between the egg and shell from the egg. When you peel the shell, the membrane easily goes with it.
Woah you breezed pass 10k subs! So excited for you! Well deserved xoxo
Thank you Brie!! 😘😘😘
